Lara lowered herself onto the edge of the roof and watched her feet dangle dangerously over the side as she watched the bastards across the street go about their business. As far as she knew it was a rival gang with a serious attitude problem and the job was simple, fuck them up, take their stuff and burn the place to the ground. She sighed loudly and turned to look at the tall man sitting down on her left, he had dark hair messily standing to every side and a dark glare in his jade eyes. Lara couldn’t help but smile almost proudly with a simple finger to her lips to shut him up.
“If you’re pouty about dying you gotta join the little gettogether in the corner?”, she gestured to the small group of strangers all huddled together in fear and confusion. They all had that odd translucent shade to their skin that told her they were spirits. Normally the more there were, the harder it was to function but when she was high on her reanimation tricks she was a little more resilient to their ghostly visages.
“Always knew you were a bitch”, his voice was gruff and she hated that she used to like the sound of it. Turning she smiled at her small group of corpses all gazing at her expectantly, she tried to keep them clean but one off the bastards fought back a little too much and he looked like he stepped straight out of a zombie film. Still, it was a minor inconvenience for a mindless soldier ready to do her bidding.
“One of you dumb assholes bring me my jacket. No, not you!”, she chuckled as the bloodied corpse stood back almost appalled at her rejection as the pale corpse of the tall fellow brought her jacket instead. Lara slid the jacket over her shoulders and tied her hair back. Short after her moment of vulnerability with Sean she ended up dying it back to a deep brown, it was more comfortable to look in the mirror now.
Lara glanced at her watch wondering when he’d get there, she opted to leave earlier in search for a small army of corpses. She pulled one knee to her chest and watched the gang busy themselves below as she waited, she wasn’t sure what was going on between them but having a job to do made it all the easier to concentrate than having complex thoughts about something she didn’t quite understand.

Sean walked along a grassy path. He was whislting though no sound came out. He had on his shoulder a baseball bat. It rested neatly against the cool leather of his Fool's Dice jacket. Reaching up with his free hand he combed his fingers through his hair. He walked up behind a thug. All tattooed and holding a sub machine gun. Sean stopped behind him. Still whislting. Ash and grey ember rained from the sky all around them. The sun was high and bright in the sky and it sweltered down on him with a greyish monotone. He was in the traveling lands. Sean was in the shadow dimension. He was nothing more than a shadwo on the wall behind the guy.
Sean took the bat off of his shoulder and lined it up with the head of the man's shadow on the wall. He took a few practice swings. Making sure that when he conenected, it really connected. The man didn't really notice the shenanigans going on on the wall behind him. Instead Silver Shadow had all the time in the world to line up his shot. It was all a game to him for the moment. He enjoyed his work a little to much. He felt untouchable in the traveling lands. Maybe because he was the only one who could travel to it. Though he thought more and more about bringing Lara back for more silent vacations. He closed one eye as he line up his shout.
"And a hush falls over the crowd. Silverman digs in at the plate. The windup and the pitch." Silver Shadow swung the bat as hard as he could at the man's shadow. It connected with a silent nothing. In the real world. There was a nice juicy cracking sound, generated by nothing. It balanced out. The Yings and Yangs of the universe were together and happy as the scales were consistantly balanced.
As the man cried out and collasped to the ground unconsious he accidentally squeezed the trigger. Gunfire went off sending randome bullet's flying everywhere. Silver Shadow got hit with a few bullets, but being just a shadow on the wall it did nothing too him. The only thing that happened was some sparks flew off his stomach in the traveling lands. It was odd, but no biggie. One of the random bullets burried right in the brain of one of Lara's zombie friends. More specifically the one she wouldn't allow to get her jacket for her. It got a bullet to the head and fell down dead. Um... redead.
Silver Shadow shifted out of the shadow realm. Departing from the traveling lands he looked across the wway to the roof she was on and shrugged his shoulders as if to say "Didn't mean for that to happen." Then he heard everything. The world of color and sound flooded back to his eyes and ears and he could hear shouting. Angry voices asking someone to go check it out. It was show time. It was time for the world of chaos to breath life into the world of shadow. He turned to smoke and bled into the wall once more. All shadow and smoke and bad intentions. He looked back to the roof where Lara hid. "Just be careful." He urged. He said the words but no sound came out. It was a silent oath, he didn't want anything to happen to her. He cared about her deeply.

Lara was getting bored, the night’s sky was only so interesting and the bloody corpse behind her was starting to smell in the slightest. It wasn’t necessarily a rotting stench more than it was thick iron scent lingering in the air, almost blaming her for the unfortunate death. She would have missed the man’s sudden collapse if she didn’t hear the obvious touch of bullets firing from the gun. She stood to her feet, looked down to see Sean’s figure behind the dead thug. Her brow lifted to turn, she could feel the hold of one corpse relinquish and she saw the filthy bastard sprawled out on the ground. Turning back she couldn’t help but lift a single, rude finger with a playful grin.
Her dark hair blew in her face from a slight breeze as she turned to the remainder of her undead puppets. Lara gestured a polished finger to them before grabbing the crowbar from the thick railing separating her from a two story fall. There was a new energy to her steps down the sets of stairs and she didn’t know if it was because her mind was begging her to meet up with Sean or because she didn’t mind letting her frustrations out on other people.
Moving across the street in an almost graceful saunter she looked to the shadows with a taste of irony. She wasn’t sure where Sean was about then but she was certain she’d run into him soon enough. Moving around the side of the building she tucked her finger over the knob of a door, her small group of undead standing in wait behind her. Lara tucked the crowbar behind her back as the door burst open and a bulky man stepped through with an angry sneer.
“What the fuck are you doing?”, he wasn’t exactly fun to look at with more beard than face and an ugly scar littering the skin on his thick cheeks but she faked an almost fearful glance and turned to the corpses. “I was just trying to get away, please don’t hurt me”, for the split second his gaze shifted to her unique group she felt a smirk light up on her lips and she swung the crowbar at his head. For a big guy he fell pretty fast, she obviously gave him more credit than he deserved.
Lara turned to look at the corpses with a sarcastic glance, their doppelganger spirits whispering senselessly in the background was beginning to get on her nerves. Complaining about dying wasn’t much good to anyone. “You know what, one more won’t hurt”, she dug the swung another hefty hit to the man’s cranium and the touch of death to the air was almost deafening.
“What’s happening? You fucking bitch!”, she turned to look at the new spirit over her shoulder, he still looked the same except for the bloody mess at the back of his skull. “You’ll get over it soon enough”, the rest of his confused whispers went painfully noticeably against her skull but it drowned out once she reached out to touch his corpse. An almost dark shade of blood grew visible in the veins running over her palm and the corpse twitched to life.
“Let’s have some fun”, Lara didn’t shut the door behind her, it was dark inside but the dim light swimming through the door at the end of the small room was enough to lead her steps. The whispers of the dead were becoming louder, more deafening so she focused what control she had with a dangerous glare. At some times she managed to control the voices, it was easier when she used the other perks of her mutation and having that many corpses by her side was enough adrenaline to ward off the apparitions.
Her steps were silent, she was almost curious where Sean was. Or anyone for that matter, she wasn’t sure whether it was ironic that the first door she came across was a bathroom or if it was just terrible luck. She half expected someone to barge through but instead she rounded a quick right perfectly into the barrel of a gun. If it wasn’t for her corpse jumping in front of the bullet with purpose she’d have been dead.
“I bet you didn’t see that one coming”, her lips tilted into a playful, cocky smirk as she kicked the heel of her boot into his crotch. It wasn’t her first choice but it gave her the opportunity to take his gun, at least most of the assholes were checking on the unlucky bastard Sean killed. It left her a rare opportunity to blend into the background where the chaos wasn’t raging but building. Her mind drifted, for a second she lost concentration while two of her corpses drifted into various directions to add fuel to the fire while another stayed by her, she wondered where Sean was. Lara didn’t want him to get hurt, he meant to much to her.

Swimming through the darkness searching for the lighted world. Silver Shadow was fingertips away from her. He saw her standing in a dark room. The dark shadowy pools of potential bathing all around her. He loved her for that. Silver Shadow burst into the living world and spilled out of the floor like rising black smoke. He pooled around her ankles for a moment before rising to meat her. Slowly he started to form. The smoke turned to boots, then jeans rising and rising a studded belt became more tangible. The smoke gathered behind her and quickly assembled a man with a beating heart. When he was fully present in the world his arms moved around her waist.
He didn't care that they were in the middle of chaos. He didn't care that the undead stood by watching. She was his. At least in his mind. He was so possessive. Days had passed since they first kissed and truly he hadn't been able to think about much else besides the taste of her lips and how they didn't feel dead. There was some foolish thought in her mind that if he had touched her she'd feel as cold as a corpse but that wasn't the case. Her lips tasted like wish fulfillment.
They made his lips tingle and spark with life. Spirit medium or not she made him feel alive. His arms smoothly moved over the roughness of her jeans. His chin rested on her shoulder and a smile painted his face. His stubbly beard pressing against the skin of her neck. "You didn't kill them all did you?" There was a playful tone to his sweet nothings. "You're one hell of a girl." He assured her.
Silver Shadow's hands found her hips and he spun her around roughly. She was so god damned beautiful. How he hadn't noticed her before he would never know, but he supposed that their time in the traveling lands had opened his eyes. That breathless soundless kiss and all the noise that followed had awoken him somehow. He reached up and cupped her face with one hand. Silver Shadow noticed that her zombie pets were staring at him. He gave them a moment of his attention before returning his eyes to hers. They hadn't barely had time together since that kiss.
They had barely spoke since that night that followed. Rough, aggressive atonment of the flesh, but it was more than that wasn't it? He had to know. No more of this coy shit. Dancing around the issues. He fucking hated dancing. "I want to give you a jacket." He said as excitedly. He almost sounded out of breathe with excitement. The words spilled off his tongue in such a way that made his eyes dance with light.
He was of course talking about a Queen's jacket. Meaning that things were official. The Fools didn't give those out unless they were sure you wanted to commit to that person. It had been a few days an a one night stand, but he felt like he knew her better than he had ever cared to know any woman. Sean was never much for settling down. In fact, he kind of avoided it and made a point to do so, but he found everything about her spoke to him.
Her sassy nature. Her thirst for life. Her not only willingness but eagerness to breath in the fumes of the traveling lands and take in it's silence. How can you resist a woman who speaks to you a million different ways when sound literally doesn't exist? You can't. Sean didn't wait for an answer. He kissed her again. A rough forceful kiss that was passionate and honest. When he pulled away he struggled to read her face.
There was no time for answers. They stood in the center of a large room. There was angry voices running their way. Sean didn't even bother to turn around as 4 men spilled in the room holding automatic rifles. With a peek over his shoulder he saw where their shadows lied on the wall. Without warning their shadows were fighting each other. Every punch and kick their shadows landed, landed with a heavy impact on the shadow's owner. They were fighting each other with Silver Shadow's shadow puppet trick. He turned around and pulled out his smokes.
Sticking one in his mouth he lit up and took a deep drag. The gangsters were beating the shit out of each other as shadows on the wall. In reality they were stumbling around the warehouse in almost comical fashion acting like they were wrestling invisible assailants. "Your boys hungry?" He asked Lara over his shoulder. Maybe watching zombies rip the flesh from their bones would be entertaining? He wasn't sure, but it was damn hilarious watching him shadow puppet their ass whipping without lifting a finger. He took another deep drag and watched the carnage.

Lara knew his touch by heart, not because she’d felt it a million times but because that one amazing night was enough to bleed into her memories for an eternity. She could be blind and deaf and she would still know when it was him. the close touch brought an undeniable grin to her lips and for that second he might very well have pulled her back into that silent realm, everything died down, the chaos and the screams and the ugly stares from her pets, all that mattered was him. Every moment she spent with him was a moment the voices in her head grew silent, as if they were waiting for her to join them in their lifeless eternity but Sean seemed to breathe life back into her and they let her be, they left her to the touch of life and it was absolutely intoxicating.
“I was trying to leave a few for you”, she smiled leaning back into the warmth of his presence. Her lips were still stuck in the true echo of a happy smile, she didn’t know being with one person could feel that good but it did. Lara felt her palms reach down over the rough touch of her jeans and interlaced with his, his words left her mind feeling a little foggy as if she soared to a new type of high with a far more satisfying touch to her mind.
Lara indulged the moment with all her will, for a while after their time together she was worried about the feelings sparking to life. Sean was a fool, he could have any women he wanted but he was there with her, a girl who spoke to the dead. Her eyes were vibrant as they gazed up at him and her hands reached up to his shoulders, she noticed the brief glance at her friends and she was almost certain they were staring away at the two of them. Still, they were pretty mindless. All this was to them was the person who commanded them taking a blissful pause in the middle of the chaos raging about.
Her lips were agape for a second, those weren’t words she dreaded but words she didn’t expect to fall from his lips. In actuality, it brought an ultimate smile to her lips with an excited glint to her gaze. Commitment was never truly something she thrived at, purely for the fact that men didn’t stick around when they found out she could see the dead and some way or another they always found out. No one could ever drown out the whispers. But then, out of nowhere Sean was a cure to the madness whispering away to her mind and while she never expected him to even consider being with her when there were dozens of others probably begging for his attention she found pure, raw heaven in that single moment.
Lara drowned in the ecstasy of the kiss, it left her breathless and almost begging for more. Her mind was being torn into so many different directions, not because of any doubt but because she could feel her corpses growing restless and the voices were evident in the air. The men were coming. Her brow lifted in amusement at the raw potential of his power. Besides, he was getting rid of the problem without barely lifting a finger.
She had to keep herself from laughing aloud at the sidesplitting events unfurling in front of her. Lara turned to look over her shoulder at his question with a wink to the corpses all staring at her, almost expectantly. “Pretty sure the dumbass on the right already ate”, she wasn’t sure when he gnawed on someone but the blood on his chin and hands was enough to tell her he definitely ran into someone made of flesh and bone. “Dig in boys”, she saw the horrified looks growing over the dim apparitions of their spirit but she shrugged her shoulders, waved them off and watched their images dissipate.
Lara was almost sure that Sean alone was enough to help her control the voices and to some extent the faces of the dead. she didn’t know why or how but somehow it all just worked out. While her puppets rained down on the poor bastards she gently took the cigarette between her two fingers, took it from his lips and leaned up for another passionate kiss. Inches from his lips with one hand holding onto his shoulder she whispered in an almost playful tone, “Yes, to the jacket. I’m not sure what this is but it feels right and if you’re not changing your mind any time soon we might as well finish up here and celebrate”, she offered him a brief, teasing wink before holding the cigarette back out to him.
She turned back to see her copses knee deep in blood and guts, their hands ripping the flesh of the men to shreds and their eyes ablaze with a taste for death. Lara always thought their anger came from the lack of their souls being anchored to their bodies but she couldn’t be sure. One of her puppets stood up and walked closer to her, almost asking what else he could do.
“Hey, back up buddy. You’re filthy and these are new shoes”, he stood almost painfully rejected for a second as she reached out a palm. An almost iridescent fog rolled from him to her palm and life slowly left him, it wasn’t long before he fell limply to the floor. His friends didn’t fall limp a long time after him.
“So, that’s my party trick. It’s not really pretty but I got used to it”, she wasn’t sure if she meant the words to Sean or herself but they drifted in the air nonetheless. For the majority of her life she was ashamed to share this part of herself with anyone else but she wasn’t scared to be herself with him. With Sean she’d divulge every last secret drifting afloat in her complex mind, who him every scar and every cut because she felt something with him she hadn’t known in years. A purpose, a home and someone who cut through the chaos in her thoughts to reach the purest version of who she truly was.

There was only one problem with Silver Shadow's little proposal of sorts. They needed Lulu's permission. Lulu may have lost control of the club to Carson's daughter showing up, but she still held dominion over which girls in the club got a Queen's jacket. It was symbolic. Being a Queen didn't mean you were instantly a full member. At least not in Lulu's eyes. A Queen Jacket just meant that you were that guy's girl. Offically. And everyone knew it. It was like an engagement ring. It was just that serious.
Sean was sure he wanted to give her a jackte, but he needed Lulu's blessing. In the excitement of the moment he had forgotten that, but then again he just didn't give a fuck. Sean kissed her again, and grabbed his cigarette back from here. "Let's get the fuck out of here." He said finally. When all his smooching was done. He turned around. Behind him were a few oild drums. They were rust colored and old, but they still contained what he thought they did. He kicked them over with his foot. They fell over and spilled gasoline everywhere. Taking one final puff of his cigarette he flicked it at the gas and threw his arm around Lara's waiste.
He pulled her close to his body as if saying without words that she already was his queen. A bold step for a man wo was just this morning wondering what lied between them. Lulu would just have to accept it. Otherwise he would drag her to the shadow dimension and keep her there until she changed her mind. Silver Shadow wasn't one to fear her tempers. Sure Johnny Rome was indestructable and he could heal from any injury. Lulu had killed him more than a few times. She wouldn't get that chance with him. Sean walked out with his new girl in toe. He had to admit. It felt nice. You couldn't pry that smile off his face with a fucking crowbar Jack!
Outside it was still daylight. Bright and beaming with the warmth of the sun gently kissing the sky. Overhead some birds flew by. They chirpped happily. Somewhere on a nearby street an icecream truck drove down the road. Distantly Sean could hear it's childish jingle blasting through the megaphone's on top. And behind them was a burning warehouse. The smoke was already rising into the sky. An explosion errupted out of nowhere. The burning gas must've found more oil drums. Sean laughed out loud. He loved his fucking job. He loved his fucking life! Oranged and black flames licked the sky as he pulled Lara away from the scene. He was super casual like this was just another Tuesday for him. "You like tacos? I know the best little taco truck down by the peer." He said.
He walked, assuming she would walk beside him. He moved over to his motorcycle. Sean was one of the few fools that prefered a bike to a fancy expensive super car. He straddled the bike and smiled at Lara. He watched the area just beyond her shoulder. He saw the smoke of the burning wearhouse and realized that her zombie pets weren't with them. Fuck. He had accidentally exploded them in the warehouse. He hoped she didn't know any of those corpses before they kicked the bucket. That would make lunch rather awkward. He sighed inwardly and kept the smile breathing life to his handsome face.
Without a word he reached behind him and grabbed his motorcycle helmet. He only had one and he handed it to her. He didn't care about the merchandise. He would tell Bastina that the warehouse was empty of guns and drugs. Honestly he didn't even look for them. He didn't give a fuck about impressing the new boss. He didn't give a fuck about appeasing the old boss either. He had priorities and Lara was number one on that list.

Lara watched eagerly as Sean kicked over the oil drums, her senses were itching to see the lick of flames over the building. The smell of gasoline was almost intoxicating to her senses but then again she didn’t mind strolling through the mess back into the touch of fresh air. She truly enjoyed the touch of his warm arm laced around her waist, she was drowning in a sense of happiness knowing they were finally more than a simple hookup. He’d been on her mind for weeks and every thought left her begging for another taste of the addiction.
Lara couldn’t care less about being a queen, the only thing that mattered to her was being with him and that in itself was the closest she’d ever get to the meaning of life. The world outside welcomed her skin in a soft touch of the sun’s warmth. A smile lingered on her lips and she wondered if she’d ever been so content. The warehouse was burning in the red hot touch of flames and she quite liked the sight, maybe chaos was the ideal atmosphere for her to thrive in. her eyes glanced up at him as he chuckled with a playful glint.
“I love tacos”, she nudged him lightly with her shoulder. Lara easily kept pace next to him all the way towards the intriguing sight of his bike. She wondered just how long this fire would burn or how long it would take for the embers to die down. Either way, she preferred leaving it in hindsight. Her mind trickled to the thought of her pets boiling away in the fiery touch of the burning oil, she honestly didn’t mind. It saved her the trouble of draining their life herself.
Lara balanced her open palm on the bony prominence of her hip and watched the smile on his face with a grin lingering on her own lips. Her mind was slightly overwhelmed before she came here in thoughts of the job they needed to do but now she only cared about Sean. Still, she didn’t see anything in the warehouse except a bunch of dicks with zero aim.
She took the helmet to her palms with a small smirk playing at the corners of her mouth and rolled It over in her palms for a second. Lara set it down onto the ground by her feet and swung her legs over the bike behind Sean. “I’m sure I’ll be safe enough”, her palms reached around and grasped onto him before pressing herself against his back.

Silver Shadow was on top of the world. He was the king of the sunken place. He mastered the shadows a long time ago. What he was finding difficult to control was his rising feelings. He had never experienced them before. Honestly, he was more of the love them then leave them type. Always perfecting the art of being long gone before morning. It was easy. Sean would lie there in the sheets of a strangers bed and bleed into the mattress. Becoming one with the shadows in the creases of the sheets and drip over the edge of the bed.
He would sink down and puddle around the soft shadow beside the bed and cross the vast wasteland beneath it. He would slither across the dusty floorboards to the door and find his way under it without ever making so much as a creak when he stepped or opened the door. No, Sean was always gone by morning. He looked at Lara now. She was the first girl he ever wanted to stay through the night. Looking at her now he just wanted to whisk her way into a dark shadowy place. A play of greywash and crushing silence. A place where he could make her scream, and no one would ever hear it.
A place where the mood lighting was always somber and the shadows lingered just a little too long for comfort. He even thought about it too. It was the middle of the fucking day but so what? They could find a little privacy nestled in the cracks of an old building. People could be right in the room with them as they went to town on each other, exploring each other's sensitive senses. They wouldn't be any the wiser. They might see the disturbing sight of two shadows doing it on the floor and scratch their head but they wouldn't exist in their shadowy world. They would only be moving shadows crossing against the wall and nondescript silhouettes of, nobody fucking cares.
Sean smirked at the thought. He actually wanted to take her in the middle of a crowed room in the sunken place. If he ever asked her where the craziest places she had ever done it was, that had to make the top of the fucking list! The smirk grew a little wider when she put the helmet on the ground. "Okay Billy Badass." He chuckled. He was about to rev his bike when the sound of sirens caught his attention. He expected them sure, but he expected them distantly. These were close. "Hold on!" He snapped. Suddenly the fun and games were over suddenly the time for daydream about stripping clothes away was a distant memory.
Sean started the bike and turned it towards the alleyway. He was looking for a quick escape, but he was cut off. Blue and red siren lights blarring angrily at them. The cops shouldn't have gotten here this fast. This warehouse was out in the middle of fucking nowhere man! Were we set up? Silver Shadow's mind raced with the possibilities of who and how and why? Instantly he thought of the little power struggle going on between Lulu and the new girl. The blue haired spawn of Carson Falco himself. Sean grinded his teeth together and pulled the bike in another direction. He was cut off again down the other alleyway. They were boxed in.
Sean didn't like using his powers out in the open. It was fucking sloppy, but he also wasn't going to fucking jail. Not today! He revved the handle bar of his bike. The bike was pointed right at the cop car. "Pull over and shut your vehicle off. You have no where to run!" A voice came out loud and authoritative. Sean only sneered at them. Revving the handle bar again the bike took off. He sped the bike right at the cop car. Right before it hit the bike and the two riders exploded into a gray cloud of smoke.
The bike continued through the shadowy shape of a cop car in the sunken place. Angrily screaming the rip roar of it's engine. Dirt kicked up behind the back tire as they tore down the alley. The bike was upsidedown. Riding on the ceiling. As usual when Sean traveled to the sunken place everything was upside down and flipped on it's ear. We were fucking set up. Sean thought. He couldn't tell Lara shit right now. Even the banshee scream of the bike we silent as the grave the engine vibrated between his legs but made no sound, here in the traveling lands.
He had to put some distance between the cops and them. The cops showed up way to fucking fast. Like they expected them to be there. Hell, maybe they half expected to find them dead in the warehouse. Who knows? Sean only knew that he was fucking pissed off. The sky started to split at the seems. The horizon where the sky kissed the sand was breaking away and bending in the middle. Sean's eyes went wide with horror. No, he was breaking through to the dark dimension!!! A portal ripped open in the gray, dark gray sky; where the road met the horizon and Sean drove them straight through it. He didn't mean to he was just so pissed off. They both disappeared into the dark dimension. They were fucked.

The world felt foggy at first, and then the strange landscape invaded her vision as painfully as the gash in her side. The blood slowly oozed into her shirt and even though it couldn’t kill her it stung like a bitch. The voices tore through her head with a tenacity she wasn’t entirely used to, it left her head thundering as if someone was beating her with a hammer. She knew Sean didn’t see the dead but she wondered if the loud sounds of dread reached his ears too, either way, she couldn’t be entirely sure. The fog that rolled over the ground engulfed her pale palms and she had to stop from losing all her concentration to the unique dimension they were thrusted into. There were tendrils of darkness begging her fear and they were truly terrifying until her sights truly took in Sean’s visage.
If ever she needed a light at the end of the tunnel, he was it in every possible way imaginable. His eyes shone in vibrant light reminding her of a hope that only he seemed to instigate in her soul. His hair reminded her of the beautiful licks of a fire, only this time a red hue was absent and replaced by an absolutely enticing white light. She couldn’t believe her eyes. While her mind still rolled into the abyss of fear in a place she didn’t understand she was confident in him. she knew somehow he’d keep them safe, get them out and they’d figure out what the fuck went wrong in the first place.
She wasn’t a telepath or an empath but it was impossible to deny the almost pulsating power emanating from his touch, he left her awestruck and truly shocked at the depths of his unique abilities. “Just a scratch”, her soft humorless chuckle ended in a slight cough before she tried in vain to hide her discomfort under the mask of a smirk.
Her hands reached up to tangle her slender fingers into the brilliant white flame of his hair and she felt herself smile at the striking light. His name echoed in her mind and she wanted to pull him down for something of an impulsive kiss, something to celebrate their brief survival but the happy thoughts brewing in her mind were replaced by an eerie, raspy sound of something that made her blood run cold.
She couldn’t figure out where the scary echoes came from, all she knew was that they burnt through her mind with more severity than the touch of a hundred spirits. Although, her mutation still persevered and soon the eerie echo of something dark and dangerous was challenged by the voices of every spirit she ever came across.
Her shoulders ached from the fall but at the sound she couldn’t help but shoot upright and grasped onto his shoulders worried for his safety. Lara’s own safety inside this new dimension was shoved to the back of her mind, it didn’t matter to her, all that did was the safety of the man next to her. It was almost ironic to think that they finally addressed the relationship between them moments back and now they were stuck in some kind of dark dimension with creepy voices and tentacles that had her cringing.
“What the fuck is that?”, she ignored the landscape begging her peripheral vision and stared into those brilliant white lights that replaced his otherwise addictive gaze. A shiver travelled down the length of her spine and suddenly she wished she’d at least shoved a jacket over her shoulders before they left for the job. After years of seeing mangled bodies in fogged up mirrors and being followed by horrifying corpses through the dead of night she didn’t fear much but this new territory that she didn’t understand had her terrified.
Sean was practically a god, she could tell that much but she was useless, powerless and it left her stomach sinking. While the pressing matters on her mind was the dark touch to the eerie voices calling out to Sean she couldn’t help but think he made a mistake choosing her when he was immensely skilled in his amazing abilities and all she could do was talk to the dead and make a lumpy corpse walk and talk.
“How much do you even know about this place?”, she felt vulnerable hunched over on the cold ground among the caress of the mist. Her lips opened in a painful grunt pushing to her feet, her side stung but her head hurt more. She looked to Sean hoping he had some idea for what they needed to do next. For the first time in her life, she truly felt lost and that in a place that turned her otherwise brunette waves a pale blonde as if the touch of death was begging her end.

They went from dead silence to the most unnerving noise you could imagine. A low, throbbing consistantly chruning electronic buzzing sound. It sounded like robotic teeth gnashing against one another. It was an electrical feedback loop as they passed through the portal to the dark dimension. That low electronic buzz infected his ears and festered in the back of Sean's head. He tried as best he could to keep the bike up right but the handle bars hit a rock and the bike swerved out of control.
Weight felt different here. Gravity was stronger too. He could't compensate for the force of the handlebars jerking in his grasp and he felt Lara fall off the bike. Sean however wasn't so lucky. The bike sped foward as he accidentally revved the handle bar while trying to correct his steering. The bike flipped and landed on top of him and skidded across the road. Hundreds of pounds coming down on his ribcage like a hammer of justice. Sean skid a few dozen yards with the bike on top of him. He was crushed beneath hundreds of pounds and going top speed. The bike and Sean finally came to a rest when he slammed up against a large cliff face.
In the background that low electronic gnashing filled the air. It was relentless. Black tendrils swam around in the sky like tenticals. What they were attached too no one could really know for sure. They extended through a darkness hard to see. The ground was covered in a heavy fog. The world around them was black and white and monochrome colored. The only color was the vibrate bright white of the fog settling around their feet. Whisp of smoke drifted all around them, black and heavy and tasting like sutt.
Sean coughed up some blood as he pushed the bike off of him. The blood spilled onto his lips bright white and looking neon. Pushing the bike over, It fell over with surprising ease. He felt supercharged somehow. As if this dakr energy floating all around them made him better. Made him stronger. The same slip streams of black tar oozed out of his nostrils only this time when Sean opened his eyes they were blank. No pupils, no iris... There were only white eyes ghostly and horrible, with those dark streaks trailing from each nostril to accompany it. Sean's silver hair was now white fire.
It seemed to glow as did his eyes. He looked down and groaned. There was a few ribs sticking out of his body. Broken from the crash. He pushed them back in and hissed in pain. Dark energy, swirling around like a mischvious omnipresent force crawled up his leg. It was stringy and wild, erractic and scary, though Sean did nothing. He simply looked at it with his glowing white eyes. It was moving and dancing across his leg.
Heading up his thigh and too his torso. Sean noticed more sentient strings of dark energy moving on the ground, under the fog. They were coming towards him. They crawled up his hands. They crawled up his arms. He screamed out in anger and fear. His scream tore through the sky like a lightening bold. A white flood of bright light spilled form his open mouth and tore apart the darkness over head. It flinched away from the light and crawled back against the sky from where it burned it. Silver Shadow was the keeper of the light here. He was the white light that commanded the darkness here. He wasn't sure what any of this meant, but the little dark energy creatures that attached themselves to him started to heal and sooth his body.
He looked down at his broken mangled ribs and they were healed. His cuts, his scrapes they were all gone. The dark energy fused with his blood to make him whole again. Sean stood up. He brushed himself off and looked at his hands as if he couldn't believe the power that he had here. This was better than the shadow dimension. This place he felt godlike. It was painful to open a portal here, but he had done so with ease by just being angry. Anger was key. Sean was so stunned and abosrbed with what was happening with him he didn't even think about Lara at first and then it hit him. His heart sank. He saw her form slouched on the ground across the way.
Running too her he exploded without thinking about it. He teleported right over too her. He moved through the shadows much more easily here. Here was nothing but shadows. He was the only light in this dark place. It was almos too dark to see. Silver Shadow held out his palm and pressed it against the ground. It glowed for a few moments. He was almost pulled back into his trance again. It was so remarkable. He breathed a little easier when he saw Lara moving. He swooped over and craddled her carefully, pulling her into his lap as he kneeled on the ground. His hair was white flame.
His eyes were gone, only two piercing balls of light and pure light spilled from his mouth. "Are you okay?" He asked. It seemed so odd to see such a being talking so normally. Sean wasn't sure how to get out of this place but he felt as if they were safe here for the moment. That was until he heard the voices again. Those terrible raspy, evil voices. "WELCOME HOME! SEANY BOY!" The voice snickered. He was scared. Real scared. More scared than he cared to admit. He pulled Lara close and squeezed her tight. He wouldn't let any creatures of shadow have her. Or him.

Silver Shadow stood there, in the center of the fog. The only light in this place was him. He was a beacon shining among the darkness. He almost didn't hear her when she asked him that loaded question. She wanted to know how much he knew about this place. He was sad to say that he didn't know jack shit about it. He turned to her slowly.
"Not much. Every time I tried to break through to this place, my head felt like it was going to explode and i got a nose bleed." As if he relieved that pain just now he touched his fingers to his nose. His fingers came back stained in white luminous neon. It was blood. The world around them moved and swayed. The shadowed whipped violently. Jet black and angry swirls dark venom lived in the air. This was not a safe place. Not for Lara.
Not for Sean. Not until Sean learned to control things in this world. The electronic buzzing grew louder when you tried to tune it out. It was as if the more you tried to ignore it the louder it became. The only way to get the noise to stop was to actually listen to it. Listen for it. It was backwards here. The silence only came when you wanted it to go away. It was hard to think with the noise, but when Sean listened to try and tell where it was coming from it grew softer. He listened harder, trying to pinpoint it and it disappeared entirely.
"Motherfucker, i can think again." Silver Shadow said. He was surprised at the sound of his own voice. That fabulous white light didn't spill out of his mouth when he spoke, but you could see it there lining the back of his throat. "We have to find out how to get out of here." Suddenly his problems of who set them up didn't seem so important. Suddenly the only thing of any importance was getting out of this place in one piece. It was a part of his ability and he craved to understand it, but not here. Not now with Lara's life on the line. He would trade answers for her safety that wasn't even a question.
Silver Shadow started to walk. "I think if we..." He was cut off by a shrill scream. He turned around to see that a black tenticle made of dark energy whipped out of the fog. It was attached to something wicked and foul. Though what controlled the suctioning arm could not be seen in the black dense fog all around them. "LET HER GO!!!!!!!!!!!!" Silver Shadow screamed. White light poured out of his mouth like a beam and pushed back the darkness to reveal rows of razor sharp teeth hiding, lingering in the dark. He couldn't see it all but that flash was terrifying. Like catching a glimpse of the boogyman in a flash of lightening.
Another tentacle shot out of the dark and wrapped around Sean's waste. It jerked him wildly and tossed him into the darkness. The light went out for Lara. She was surrounded in pitch black nothingness. Unable to see around her in anyway. Sean was flung far off into the distance. He landed with a thud on something soft, and wet and spongy. His eyes still glowed though his hair wasn't white fire. The fire HAD gone out.
It was yet one more thing he had to learn to control here. He could see through the darkness. His white glowing eyes cut through the dark in whatever direction he looked like a flashlight beam though it was limited. He had to find Lara. "LARA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" He screamed there was no beam of light. There was no eruption from his mouth that cut away the darkness like a machete through the vines of a dense jungle.
" I have to find her!" He panicked. Back with Lara hot breathe touched her skin. It was like steam it burned. It blew her hair back like a tornado and it smelled awful and rotten. Something in the dark hungrily lingered. The tentical was gone. Scared off by the white light of Sean's good soul. It was his goodness that was his light. Silver Shadow was a criminal, a thug, but his goodness was what controlled the white hot flame here. It was his moral upstanding and his convictions that commanded the darkness. He had struggled with moral rightousness his whole life.
Though his inner emotions and thoughts of mischievous acts is what corrupted the soul and put the flame out. He had to realize this if he ever wanted to get out of here. He had to realize this if he ever wanted to save Lara. Silver Shadow began teleporting through the darkness. Searching blindly. He was looking for a needle in a needlestack and he was beginning to loose faith. He tried tearing open a hole to the shadow realm. Hoping it could spill more light into this world, but he only got shimmering staitc and deflated ego for his troubles.
"YOU CAN NOT HIDE FROM US! LICKED IN FLAME.... AND BOUND BY JUSTICE, COMMAND THE DARK AND SEE .....YOUR BRIGHT FUTURE SILVER SHADOW!" The voice sounded snakelike... Slithery, vile, venoumous and pure evil.... It spoke in pauses "IF YOU WANT TO SAVE THE GIRL, BEND DARKNESS TO YOUR WILL AND RULE THE WORLD. FIND YOUR THROWN OF BLACKEN POWER TICKING DOWN HER FINAL HOURS....RUN RUN RUN LITTLE WHITE FLAME HERO.... BEFORE HER TIME TICKS DOWN TO ZERO" The voices echoed inside his skull but he didn't wait. He took off running through the darkness. "I'M COMING LARA HOLD ON!!!!!!!"

Lara could easily recall the moment they’d truly connected, the night she worried for the black tar like blood dripping down his nose and suddenly she didn’t want to think about what pain it caused him to tear through to this dark, ominous dimension. Just because the world around them changed didn’t mean she didn’t see the luminous coating just under his nose, she knew it was blood even if it lacked that special crimson touch and it left her stomach churning in worry and fear for the safety of a man she cared more for than every single person she ever came across. He made the world feel less like a shadow over the looming dead and he brought a taste of life to her lips that she begged for with every ounce of her being.
“You don’t have to tell me twice”, getting out of there was a pressing matter that eft her nauseated wondering if they’d ever find a door out of this dark realm. Still, she had faith in Sean, in the power of his abilities. She didn’t hesitate for a second as she followed after him, he was the beacon of light in a world where the darkness was so thick she could hardly see her own pale fingers. Lara would have kept pace with him if there wasn’t a harsh tug against the bleeding cut on her side, it tore through her veins in a blood curling scream and left her hunched over with palms set firmly against her knees. The pain was immense and she could hardly think, a moment of clarity was spared to her at the cost of Sean’s authoritative command. The pressure against her skin released and she could find her feet again.
“Sean!”, Lara was almost certain her own voice never touched that dangerous volume, he was being ripped away from her and she lost the only light leading her way through the darkness that surrounded every inch of the dangerous dimension. She could feel the hot, lingering presence breathing down her neck. It was eerie and uncomfortable, she turned in every direction with no true success. Everything was dark, so dark she could barely even see her pale blonde locks swirling around her shoulders.
Her nose was assaulted by a horrible stench, something much like the rotting skin of a corpse left to disintegrate to the elements for too long. Lara held a palm over her nose and mouth in hopes to shut out the fearful scream building in her throat and the awful, rotten stench begging the sight of her breakfast. “Fuck off!”, her voice was loud and fierce albeit coated in a layer of true fear she hadn’t known since she was a child haunted by the visages of corpses who couldn’t truly find peace.
“Sean!”, she tried finding her footing in the dark void but something ripped her foot from under her and she met the foggy ground with a harsh thug. She could already feel the obvious pulse of blood oozing through her broken temple but she forced past the pain and dreadful feeling washing over her and sprinted in the first direction that pulled her. Her head felt heavy, as if someone was breathing a toxin down her throat and an impact met her back, she wasn’t sure what it was, seeing anything was impossible but it tossed her through the air and she screamed loudly at the burst of pain as her back met something solid and sharp.
Lara felt tears prick at her eyes, not for the fear pulsing through her veins but for the sharp pain shooting through her body, even if she wanted to run her entire body was anchored to the misty floor. Something ethereal and unseen wrapped around her wrists, even if she scrambled with her feet against the ground she couldn’t see there was nowhere to go with the solid rock tearing into her back and the ghostly darkness tearing at her skin through the darkness.
“No!”, her voice broke slightly at the feeling of something inhuman tearing through her skin, at first it was a razor sharp cut through her palms and she felt the blood oozing through her skin although she could hardly see anything through her shut eyes. Sean was gone and she was certain she was going to be killed by whatever the fuck whispered to Sean when he hadn’t been torn from her side. It didn’t take long before more cuts tore through her skin, blood coated her jeans, littered her arms as she kicked and screamed against the agonizing burns of the wounds coating her slim figure. It felt agonizingly horrible, like something unseen was sucking every ounce of hope and life from her. Pain wasn’t something she was unfamiliar with and neither was fear but in this dark world, alone and in pain she couldn’t help but beg for sanity and freedom.
“Just fucking stop!”, her voice was soft, pain laced her words as a new cut bore through her cheek and she felt the hot touch of crimson stain all the way down her neck. She almost wished light didn’t come back, she’d be as horrifying as the ghosts she was haunted by. For a second in time she thought she heard his voice, like an echo that started nowhere and drifted into an abyss where she could never find it again. Her mind whispered his name, over and over in hopes that somehow she’d survive this fucking nightmare and douse her terrified mind in a good drink and forget all about the pain and fear tearing through her.

It was hopeless. Shawn felt like he had been searching for hours, not minutes. Time crept to a halting crawl here. It was just one of the many lovely elements of the dark dimension. Silver Shadow heaved and sighed with gasping breath. He teleported so many times. He had no clue where he had begun or where he ended. Everything was masked in a shadowy film of nothingness. He felt hopeless. He dropped to his knees sobbing. "No!" He cried. "Bring her back to me! TAKE ME YOU FILTHY FUCKING PARASITE! LET HER GO TAKE ME!" He screamed into the abyss.
Suddenly his hands caught fire. Soaked in white flame it burned so bright he winced away from the light. "Ugh!" The unfathomable brightness of his pure light burned his pupils and sent a shock wave of light pushing through the darkness and he realized as the world lit up around him that he was in a forest. A dark and terrible foreboding place that sent chills through his body. Trees all around him were petrified and unforgiving.
Their long sturdy trunks encased in dark energy. Everything here lived off of it. This place was the personification of his own mind. Every dark and twisted thought he ever had lived here. Hidden away in this massive wasteland of pure contempt. Every sick fantasy and hate filled sentiment made the foundations of this toxic environment. It was much like hell. His own personal hell, and yet... If he could control the elements he could be a god.
Not only in the dark dimension but he could pull his evil intent through the world to the real world. He could siphon out bits of dark matter and mold and shape it like a vengeful wraith. Silver Shadow was much more powerful than he realized. It was hot here. He was sweating and struggling for breathe, but his unselfish act of self sacrifice had giving him light in his hands. He was overcome with a martyr feeling.
Wising more than anything that he could trade places with her. That thought alone caused his hair to burn brightly. His hair swayed slowly as if a gentle breeze moved withing the white licking flames and his eyes shined bright white... Pure light and honest intent poured through his soul and he was the living embodiment of righteous justice. He had to balance his evil with his light.
"GOOD! YOU FOUND YOUR FLAME, NOW PIERCE THE DARK AND SEARCH IN VEIN. YOU CAN NOT HAVE HER SHINY HERO..... SHE BELONGS TO US NOW. YOU FAILED HER. SO SORRY THAT YOU HAD TO BRING ABOUT HER END, BUT EMBRACE THE DARK AND MAKE AMENDS. TICK TOCK, DO YOU HEAR IT? DO YOU HEAR IT SHINY HERO? THAT IS THE SOUND OF YOUR LIGHT RUNNING OUT. HOW MUCH INNOCENCE IS IN THOSE TIRED BRUISED BONES OF YOURS? HOW MUCH SUFFERING HAS BEEN CAUSED BY THE MALICE OF YOUR SELFISH DEEDS? RUN RUN. ENJOY YOUR NEW HOME. THE DARKNESS FEEDS ON HER BRITTLE BONES. YOU SHALL FIND YOUR THRONE HERE SHINY HERO. YOU SHALL RULE THE DARKNESS AND BECOME OUR KING. THERE IS MUCH EVIL TO DO. MUCH EVIL INDEED."
The slithery venomous words tore through his mind like a buzz saw. It sounded like his inner thoughts but the voice was cold, satanic. He didn't realize because it was so dark, until this moment that the words were not coming from inside his head but from behind him. Piercing out through his back were four tentacles made of dark energy. Each had the head of a snake. A venomous viper representing his four most evil personality traits. GREED. BRUTALITY. EVNY. AND LUST. One of the tentacles slithered in front of his vision. He stared at it with piercing bright white unblinking eyes. It spoke to him. It's razor sharp rows of teeth shined in the light.
"WHY.....DO YOU WANT THIS.....ONE SO BADLY??? THERE ARE A MILLION OTHER WOMEN READY TO BED WITH A FOOL. LEAVE HER HERE TO ROT. LET HER INNOCENCE BLEED TO FEED YOUR POWER. YOU CAN MAKE HER THE ULTIMATE TOOL!" Another tentacle moved over in front of him from over his other shoulder. This one was brutality. "WE SHOULD KILL HER. RIP HER APART. PIECE BY PIECE AND LETS TASTE WHAT HER ENTRAILS TASTE LIKE. SHE LOOKS VERY FILLING. A KINGLY FEAST. YOU COULD SWALLOW HER DARKNESS TO FEED YOUR LIGHT." Shawn said nothing. He turned his head from one ghostly dark viper to the next. As they took turns speaking.
A third viper came in front of his face. Wrapping around his back and hovering in front of him lower than the first. "AND WHY NOT?!?!?!? SHE WILL ONLY TAKE WHAT YOU HAVE! SHE IS USING YOU. YOU'RE BETTER OFF WITHOUT HER SHINY HERO! SHE WILL NOT STOP UNTIL SHE BLEEDS YOU THROUGH." A sneer formed on his face. HE was growing tired of this, but still his thoughts did not stray from the innocent. He didn't think of anything but her rescue. He was not tempted by these villainous vipers of darkness.
"THEY'RE RIGHT YOU KNOW! THE PRETTY PROSPECT WANTS TO CLIMB THE LADDER. YOU ARE BUT A STEPPING STONE. YOU SEE THE WAY JOHNNY FAVORS HER. HE HAS EYES FOR WHAT IS YOURS. GIVE HER TO US. THAT IS THE ONLY TRUE COURSE." Silver Shadow had heard enough. "ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!" He screamed. The dark vipers vanished in a whisk of black smoke as his white light sent out another shock wave through the darkness. He closed his eyes and concentrated. "LARA. LARA. LARA. LARA." When he opened his eyes he was standing in front of her. There was a horrible bloody beastie tearing her apart. Shawn moved so fast.
He whipped around and held out his hand. A beam of bright light pushed through the darkness and evaporated the beast. It exploded into sparks of fire that burned up in the thick atmosphere and was gone. He turned back to Lara. His face softened. "I'm so sorry i lost you. Are you okay?" He still had those demons clawing and chipping away at his psyche, but for the moment he had pushed them back to his subconscious where they couldn't whisper dripping temptation into his ear.

The sound of his voice tore her from a place shoved in thoughts she’d never voice aloud. It was almost impossible to recall the depressive taste in her mind as more and more cuts bled to the darkness around her. Lara was lost in her thoughts, wondering she’d see her own spirit in that fleeting moment where she passed from the touch of a lively spirit to a forgotten corpse lost in the darkness so thick it swallowed her whole. For a few moments she truly thought she’d live long enough to see the transition, feel the very last breath of life leave her lungs in a final puff of air. She thought she’d feel the pain diminish and instead welcome the numbness of death with open arms.
Sean changed that, he tore her thoughts from a pit of fucking misery to a place she could think again. Her entire body ached, it felt as if someone tossed her into a meat grinder and every single shift in her body, regardless of how small or irrelevant drove her closer to a painful, agonizing scream. Her eyes felt heavy as if someone punched her time and time again and left her skin and flesh swollen, nevertheless the sight of his face was enough to drive some measure of liveliness back inside her veins and it warmed her heart enough to drive a soft smile to her lips.
“Just a scratch”, she ignored the painful tug in her skin, shoved the worry about how horrifying she must have looked to the back of her mind and pushed painfully to her feet. Her slender, pale palm reached out to him, fearful he’d vanish again and she’d meet another aspect of this dark hell consuming everything in sight. Lara didn’t understand where they were or what it meant but she wanted to get the hell out.
“Let just get the fuck out of here”, her brows knit together as a painful hiss slipped through her lips. Whatever licked her skin and tasted her blood made every second still feel unbearably tender, slithers of crimson still tainted her skin and stained her clothes. There were a million other questions burning in her mind, she wanted to ask him where he went, what the hell was out there and if there was even a way out but her lips were tense and stiff as if the words clogged in her throat.
Dread washed over her and she swallowed the painful tug of tears lingering in her eyes, “I just really need a drink right about now”, a grim smile licked over her lips as she looked up at him hoping that somehow she’d be able to do it in the touch of sunlight again or perhaps the silent grey horizon of the realm he shared with her, the realm that didn’t end up beating the living hell out of her, “and maybe a new shirt, and a nice hot shower”, the words were masked in a solemn tone but her eyes glanced to the darkness in fear that something would rip her from him again.
Lara hadn’t felt so powerless in her life, his power was immense and left her awestruck and there she was a useless soul crippled in minutes. She contemplated diving back into the darkness, perhaps it would benefit him more than babysitting someone who could barely do anything compared to his intense abilities. By then she hardly even noticed the salty trails of tears running over the crimson stain on her cheek, she was scared and terrified to admit that, even if only to her own subconscious.
“Can’t believe I thought the ghosts were terrifying”, she took a deep inhale of air, trying as best she could to force the painful tug of her broken skin to a place she could ignore. The last thing she wanted was to look weak as hell in front of a man she’d grown to care about in a way she didn’t fully grasp or understand. “Just please don’t disappear again”, even in the brief taste of the thought she felt immense agony and despair at the thought of being alone in the dark again. Lara rolled her shoulders with strain and waited for any lead to a door out of this hellish landscape, she just wanted to put this whole fucking thing behind her.
