LIFE IS SHORT
chase the stars, fool.
[attr="class","boldtext"]
Nothing in the world seemed to be real anymore. Two days, five hours and 45 seconds ago life had just seemed to stop in its tracks. One phone call ended every single plan for what she thought would be her life. They say that you should keep busy just to get up each day and put one foot before the next one. The home that was once the place of hopes and dreams had a grim essence about it. People were here but since the call and the retrieval of the body. Lulu had been just in a state of shock that wouldn't release her.
Everyone was tip toeing around her and waiting on the mental breakdown that was supposed to happen. Instead she sat in front of her vanity in a black dress. Lulu had combed her hair and left it down with a few braids woven into it. He always loved it when her hair was down. Bloodshot eyes were painted in hues of gray and black. Her painted nails gently placed on fake lashes and made herself presentable. Truthfully she hadn't even left the room since the original calls. A lot of the girls and other fools had come into town and planned the viewing.
Originally it was discussed for a funeral but Lulu refused and he was to be cremated. This thing was just for everyone to pay respects and say goodbye to a brother. She had other plans for Johnny's final resting place and due to their relationship. No one was going to argue with her on this matter. When her bedroom door opened jataya darted in followed by queenie. "Lu...ITs time to head to the church." She spoke in a quiet voice. There was a soft smile on her face but it was only to keep herself from crying.
"I'll be down in a moment." Lulu spoke as she stood and slid into the heels by her vanity. Looking in the mirror she would pin the veil to her hair before taking Jatayas hand and heading downstairs. It was only Queenie and Simon left in the house now. Everyone had left or was already at the service building. It was the church she had picked for the wedding. Ironically it was fitting the place where she had dreamed of was to become the death of her future hopes. Sliding into the car she silently rode and held her little sister closer to her.
At the church she could see the gathering of fools from outside to the ones moving in and out the doors. Carson was there as were associates and business partners coming to honor the life of Johnny Rome. As she stepped out of the car and gripped her sisters hand she moved up the steps. There were people staring at her just waiting for her to snap. Others were giving her the customary sorry for your loss. AS if that could just fix things and make up for her future that had died.
Moving down the aisle she let jataya runoff to kieth and the other kids. Her eyes followed for a moment but the minute they found kieth she turned her gaze away. Right now she couldn't look at him just because of the past. Not by his wrong doing but her own pain was just too much. At the end of the isle there was a very nice black coffin she bought just for the viewing. It had beautiful silver marble accents that her fingers gripped as she stopped infront of it.
There he was looking handsome even for a dead man. The suit was her favorite, that she had bought him. His hair was perfect and slicked back just the way he liked it. Though his skin once bright was now dull and ashen. His lips no longer pink but a duller tone and slightly grey. Both hands were crossed and gripped withing the other on his torso. "You broke your promise Mr Rome. Forever and then a day, Remember?" Her voice spoke softly but cracking in the words. One hand extended to his and she slipped off her engagement ring. Leaving it in his hand she walked away to find her seat.
The ceremony was mostly fools talking about memories. People laughed and others cried but Lulu stayed silent. At the end she stood to speak to the line of those giving their sorrow but half way through she just couldn't keep it together. Seeing Jataya playing with the other kids there was a peaceful thought.Sliding out the back she took her keys from her purse. The tears from her tired eyes had already caused her makeup to run. Now she was running and quickly she slipped into her car. The engine roared to life and before anyone outside could stop her.
Lulu was gone down the road in a speeding pace. By the time she rounded the corner, her eyes were blurry. She was crying hysterically as the engine roared and caused her to fly through intersections. Lulu was feeling every bit of pain she had repressed and every bit of anger for the loss of the man she loved for over a decade. Through blurry eyes she didnt see it there. No time to stop and miss the truck carrying a load of rebar. The sound of metal crunching was heard and then her car horn.
Her body was slouched in the seat and there were three bars keeping her in place. One in her shoulder, one in the arm and the other was in her abdomen. Emergency responders came to the scene and to the hospital she was taken. Half conscious as the rolled her to surgery. There were doctors rushing and nurses including one with blue eyes. "Is the baby....baby...." Was all she could get out before she passed out. Luckily for her in the womb a small hand gripped the rebar and kept it from piercing the tiny chest and heart.

GREASED LIGHTNING
This was horse shit. It was a horse shit sandwich with no mayo. The worst kind of shit to swallow. Everyone was real fucking respectful, paying their respects and just accepting things at face value. It pissed him off, and Buster had more reason that usual to be pissed off. Buster was the first to arrive at the church. There was some minister or priest or shit standing by the coffin with an undertaker, prepping the dearly departed for the loved ones services. Buster didn't go near them. He only offered them a snide look from the corner where he settled in at the back of the room.
When the house did fill up, Buster watched as everyone came out to pay the man respects. Even fuckers who Johnny shook down in the past. Former business associates, even the leader of the Diablos showed up when it was all said and done. Which was fucking weird, but there was a sort of truce going on. Not that it had stopped one of them from killing Kenny; though the Fools hadn't found that out yet. They hadn't discovered that little bit of information that would seen the truce spiraling into oblivion.
When the church was full Buster kept his spot at the back of the church by the front door. He leaned against the wall with his arms crossed and glared angrily at the crucifix hanging above the alter. It was all just fucking bullshit. He watched people cry over the casket. Others just wanted to drink a beer and reminisce. He didn't know where Sophia was he came alone. He didn't bother to get ready with her and he didn't even bother to put on a suit. He stood at the back in a leather jacket and a pair of dusty jeans. After so much tears he had all he could stand. Buster swung his fist at the wall and thudded the wall before exiting out into the bright sunny day. It was sunny and warm like everything was fucking peaches and gravy. It was not.
Sometime later.............
The clock read 11:46 pm. Buster was thoroughly plastered working on his 3rd bottle of scotch. It would have put a normal man on his ass, but even without his powers Buster was more than a normal man. Or at least he thought so as he fell asleep at a desk with his face in a puddle of drool and his angry hand still clutching a bottle. Some fucking cat in the alley way knocking over a trash can woke him up. He was in a hotel room. A shitty one at that. There was $3 paintings on the wall and the bedsheets looked straight out grandma Edna's spring collection. Buster rubbed his eyes not really knowing where he was or why the fuck he was there then it all came crashing back on his head like a pile of shit. Johnny was dead.
Buster looked at his hand and took another swig from the bottle before pushing back the chair, knocking it over in the process. It clattered noisely as he stumbled around and made it to the bathroom. Not sure he if he was going to puke or punch a hole in the wall he prepared himself for both. Buster stopped cold when he saw the look of his face in the mirror. The bathroom light he flicked on flickered wildly reminding him that life was fucking fragile. Buster only made a sneering face at his reflection before turning the bottle back again.
Fuck this! Buster stumbled out of the bathroom and out the front door. There was some hillbilly yelling at his wife upstairs and a few kids from some other room trying to steal shit out of the vending machine. Buster wobbled on his feet using the sleeve of his jacket to wipe away the drool bubbling in the corner of his cracked lips. Some desperate working single mother tried to coral tonight's dinner out of the backseat while yelling at her two dumb ass kids. She left the door open to chase after them and Buster slide into the seat like it was an old friend. Key still in the ignition he started her up and slammed it into reverse.
The lady dropped her groceries and yelled after him "Hey! You Bastard!" Buster kindly replied with a shower of dirt from her own spinning tires as he peeled the fuck out of there barreling through the parking like at 50 mph and loosing a hubcap as he swung onto the main road. He was in a yellow mustang and rocketing towards the funeral home like a yellow missile.
Buster took out a fire hydrant and left the yellow beauty parked half on and off the curb. He turned up the bottle he had been drinking the whole way over as he stepped around the sprays of waterfalling fire hydrant magic. Every step was a little uneven. Every stumble was a little justified in his rage. The light of the moon casting approving light on his mission as it seemed to illuminate the front door like a god damn light house beacon in the middle of violent storm. The light shined over the skull on his jacket as he made his way up to the front double doors. Fuck picking the lock he kicked the doors open.
The place was dark, moody and a little bit fucking creepy. He had no plan. Not really, he moved uneasily down the isles knocking over floor displays and making his way to Johnny boy. Buster was pissed at the world. First his speed was taken, then one of his best fucking friends. He couldn't be dead. Johnny Fucking Rome can not die. It didn't make sense. He was honestly more pissed at his club for buying into this shit, but his head wasn't on straight. It was twisted fucking sideways and shoved up his ass. His mind a 50 proof blur and his thoughts were all driving down denial boulevard.
Buster stumbled right up to the still open casket and put his foot on it. "Time to wake up you son of a bitch!" He shouted angrily and shoved the casket off the table it rested on. Johnny's limp body hit the floor and rolled out of the casket. There was a peaceful smile on Johnny's face as his dead head lulled around before coming to a stop. Buster walked around the mess and over to Johnny's body. He took another sip of his ill advised encouragement and squatted over Johnny. Grabbing him by his suit jacket he pulled the corpse up to look him in the face. "I said wake the fuck up!" He reitterated as he broke the bottle over his head. Booze poored down over Johnny's perfectly slicked back hair and off his chiseled features.
Buster stared at him a moment. Half expecting a smile or a smirk. Some playful dickhead moved to tell him this was all just an elborate prank, but there was nothing. It made him angry. Blind to common sense and angrier than he had ever been. He grabbed some rope that was lying by the alter. Spare rope for the church bell and he tied it around Johnny's feet.
Hoisting the rope over his shoulder he began to drag. He drug Johnny out to the car and slumped his ass in the passenger seat. He even playfully pat him on the shoulder. "Just rest buddy. You keep up this playing dead shit alright? You might have a career in acting some day." He was truly convinced that this was just a gag. Mostly because of the alcohol that poisoned his grieving brain, but also because he couldn't fit together how johnny could just fucking die. Maybe he lost his powers like Buster did and couldn't recover from some fucking accident, but Buster hadn't even considered that possibility. Even though, that's exactly what happened. Chalk this death up to old Dylan Walker who was directly responsible.
Buster got back in and drove for quite aways. He didn't have a place in mind, but he did pull over when he saw an out of the way abandoned farmhouse. Pulling over the headlights caught flecks of dust from the gravel sparkling in them like fireflies. "You want to stop this shit?" Buster asked looking over to the corpse. He was greeted by silence. "Okay man your call." He shrugged and stepped out, conveniently finding another bottle from the boozy single mother lying in the center console like a bottle of champagne on ice.
He took a swig of Captain Morgan "Come on big guy." He joked. He even uttered a little laugh as he walked around to pull Johnny from the car. He drug him off to the side and put him sitting up against a tree. Johnny was sitting in front of the headlights. That peaceful smile almost cruely taunting Buster. "I'm going to show you how i know you're full of shit." Buster bragged as he pulled a pistol and empty the clip into his chest. BLAM BLAM BLAM BLAM BLAM BLAM BLAM BLAM BLAM! The final shot sinking into Johnny's forehead right in the center.
Buster walked over on rocky legs that didn't want to hold him up any longer. Finally he had had it and doubled over and puked right there by Johnny's feet. bits of puke and spit strung from his lips. Buster looked up to see that Johnny's eyes were open now. He was smiling wider than before. Johnny tilted his head down at the pathetic Buster... "How's it going Benny boy?!?"
Buster noticed Johnny was looking pale and dead and for the first time he was convinced Johnny was dead. He blinked a few times unsure how to respond as Johnny stood up and stretched. The combination of alcohol, grief and general trauma had caused him to start seeing shit. Johnny scratched his chin. "You know.... You're right. Maybe we should be sure I'm dead." He said happily as he pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed himself in the neck where he began sawing off his own head.
Buster stumbled backwards desperately reaching in jacket for his phone. Dialing William's speed dial number, 7 He backed all the way up until his back was against the car. When William groggily answered Buster was screaming. "William get out to the old Pritchard farm Johnny's fucking alive!!!" What Buster was seeing and the truth were two different things. Johnny still sat slumped against the tree with all kinds of bullet holes in his body.

Sitting right next to Lulu was Hannah. She had her feet tucked underneath herself as she sat in the chair, holding Lu’s hand. Her eyes were bloodshot from what had happened so many hours before hand. Dark circles were forming under her tired eyes, but with coffee, and caffeine tablets rushing throughout her bloodstream keeping the nurse fully awake while she had her thumb gently sliding back and forth across Lulu’s knuckles. Other members had been coming in and out of the room to see how the boss was doing. There was a reason why Hannah was in there inside of the room. Not only was she a nurse, but her and Lu had been spending more and more time with each other for the past month to a month and a half. The first time was actually on the day Aurora had broken up with Hannah at the Club’s Grill out when Lulu seen the powers the nurse had. Even though it was wrong in some ways, Hannah did it so that Lu felt alive again since Lulu told her about the lack of attention she had received. Which proved to be a very wild ride, one that she will never regret. But since the day the call came in about Johnny’s death, Lulu had shelled herself inside. Not fully talking to anyone, including Hannah. Most of the information she received was via by other members. Hannah tried send txt messages, tried calling the numbers she had for Lulu, but Lu was keeping her at a distance.
“I would have been at the funeral to be at your side babe...but they were understaffed and needed as many hands as possible. I was going to meet up with you and Jataya at the club house and drive you both to my place. You’ve seen how quiet my house can be...you had me so worried hun...” More tears ran down her cheeks. Jataya was laying in the bed next to Lulu’s asleep. “When I heard about the accident and the description of you over the Radio, my heart stopped. When you arrived, I was one of the nurses that rushed you into surgery....I won’t leave your side Lu...” Hannah explained as she wiped the tears away with the other hand. Sniffing a couple of times, Hannah tried her best to keep her strength up and not break down again. The urge for a cigarette was strong for her as she sat there in the chair. Lifting up Lulu’s hand up, Hannah leaned to it and kissed it. Running the side of her face across the top it. She set the hand down. Walking over to the window, the nurse went transparent and sat inside of the window with a leg hanging over the edge of the windowsill. Reaching her hands into her pockets, she took out a smoke and lit it. The cigarette was outside of the room as Hannah began to smoke. None of it was able to pass the glass as the smell would only be outside. Exhausted wasn’t the word she was feeling. Thanks to the caffeine, she was feeling rattled that left her feeling drained. While sitting there, she began to remember everything that happened earlier on that day.
Earlier on that day.... Walking towards room 221, she had the patients charts in her hands studying it. Her dark blue eyes scanning the pages of the patient that another nurse had asked if she could cover while he went on lunch break. Being busy was good and all, but her mind kept wondering back to Lulu. Worried about her, she had asked a couple of the members if they could keep her informed since she was part of the club by being the group’s nurse, especially when she heard that Lulu use to patch them up and that it was on the borderline of near butchery. There was no new updates from Queenie, Simon, or from William or Nova. But since it was quiet, she figured it was going on now, the actual viewing. There wasn’t anything she could do about it now since a few nurses weren’t feeling good for some strange reason (was partying the night before a little to hard. Hang overs, gotta love them). So that left Hannah flipping out because she was going to be pulling a double shift at the hospital then and she wanted to spend time with the friend she liked so much. Between the two shifts, she took a quick shower and dressed in her blue scrubs. Always pays off to carry spare clothing in one’s locker encase this sort of shit happened. Walking up to the door, she saw that this woman was in her 50’s, name and prefers to be called Mrs. Stark. Her charts showed that she had a twisted ankle, possibly broken it at the train station when a group of guys began following her around. Looking over the X-rays, it wasn’t broken. Just Sprained. So she went in and wrapped it up. Sadly, it didn’t mean she wasn’t spared about her tale about how she was looking for her true soul mate that moved to New York. All Hannah wanted to do was to punch the bitch in the face t get her to shut up...but she was a lawyer, so there was that. And plus she was on the clock at her place of work. Finishing up and Gladly discharging the elderly lawyer who liked to think that she was some sort of prized cougar, Hannah quickly left the room.
Yawning a bit and stretching her limbs as she went to the nurses station. “Wow Hannah, you look like shit.” One of the voices of a nurse behind the counter said with a bit of a snarky humor like tone and it was the nurse she’s always had a tough time with. The one she broke the nose of. “Yeah, Your nose looks like how I feel.” Hannah replied as she dropped the file after finishing her writing in it. “Well, since you guys have up here under control finally, I’m gonna go for the rest of my shift to the ER and see if they need a hand.” Before any of the nurses could cheer, say or complain, ?Hannah was already walking out of there. Taking the stairwell, she pulled out her phone and saw no new messages. Frowning a bit, she slid the phone back into her pocket as she descended the stairs at a quick pace. All she wanted was to get out of there, pick up Lulu and her younger sister, take them to her place. Either make dinner or to just order out and spend time with the both of them. Slamming the heavy steel door open, she hurried to the ER. It was quiet except for an accident that happened just moments ago. “Hey Kathy, what’s going on?” “Car accident on...” and the nurse Kathy gave the details of the person, vehicle and what road it was on. Her eyes went wide as the worse feeling hit her like a baseball bat in the gut. Running now, she rushed towards where the ambulance was coming in. The stretcher was being unloaded as she came running to her, hearing the question, her eyes saw the cut rebar sticking out of different points of her body. The burning feeling began in her eyes as she helped wheel her into the building. Keeping an eye on the heart rate monitor, she looked over towards the one EMT who was coming with and was holding a new IV up, he said. “We used the Ultrasound and the baby is fine....for the most part. It was holding onto the rebar.”
That was a sign as to how strong the baby really was. She was going to have a baby who’s more then likely going to be stronger then the mom. Everyone rushed Lulu into surgery and Hannah had to gear up by washing her hands, slipping on the gloves and putting on her face mask and face shield. Once she put on her head cap that had Skulls and cross bones like the Jolly Roger, she pulled her phone out and texted Queenie. “Queenie. Get to my hospital ASAP, Lu was in an accident. Taking her to surgery now.” As she closed out the app, she looked at the background image she had up on her phone. It was of herself, Lulu and Jataya in the back yard of Hannah’s house. All three of them were smiling in the selfie as Hannah and Lulu leaned their heads against each other’s. Tears began to rush down her cheeks as the phone went into her pocket on silent mode. Going into the surgery room, Hannah began to help out by cleaning up the blood around the injuries as the doctors began to remove the pieces of rebar out of Lulu. When it came to the belly, they were seeing this as tricky since they weren’t fully sure if the rebar had pierced the sack protecting the baby. So it meant that they need a better look at it. The doctor asked for the small scope in which was sent in and showed the baby holding the rebar. It pierced into it, but it wasn’t leaking much of the fluids. Cutting open Lulu’s belly a bit, the doctors and nurses had to do everything almost at once for what was about to happen. Taking a hold of the rebar, Hannah was the one who had to pull the rebar out while another nurse pressed gauze onto the injury. Then the doctor began to sow the injury shut while the nurse took the gauze pad away. Tossing the rebar into the bio hazard trash can, she picked up a medical needle and began to sow up the other injuries as she looked down at Lu who was knocked out. Lightly saying to her, “The little one is fine babe.” Cleaning, removing foreign objects, patching her up, giving her pain medications that won’t affect the baby all took many hours as she sweated under her masks and tears soaking them and splattering and running down her face shield while she worked on Lulu with everyone. Everyone was keeping eyes in her and the baby.
Hear my shapeless songs i'm singing and painting this morning light, bit by bit, hoping I'd get to that summer sky. I'm feeling alright I can see your palm reaching out to mine. ---In the orange sky, there is glowing fireflies.
When you think someone will live forever and that turns out to be untrue. It really gets into your head and when that person happens to be one of your closest friends and someone you've called brother. The toll it takes on each soul of these tight-knit-outlaw family members is different. Seemed the whole club and business associates had come into new york. The police force had doubled seeing all the new leather reaper jackets around. Even opposing groups that the fools worked with had leaders coming into town. All of it to Honor the memory of Stuntman Johnny Rome.
It was all bullshit and had William drinking himself stupid since he got the call. Between the booze and the drugs he was always in a blunder of the mind. The last 4 nights Nicole had been called by the officers that the club owned to retrieve William from random places. First it was him passed out in the chuckie cheese ball pit. Then he was found wearing a poofy dress in some ladies fashion store. He barely evaded jail when he 'commandeered' an expensive yacht dressed as patchy the pirate. He actually had a sword he stole from a museum that was keeping the workers off the deck.
Today he had woken with a splitting headache on the couch where he had been banished as of late. Nicole had been getting tired of his shit but she still came to get him every night. William was grieving the loss of a best friend and since buster was distant grieving his own way. There was no one who understood the pain this caused. Maybe Carson got it because it was like the loss of one of his three sons. Johnny, Buster and William had been the first members of the growing family. All of them had done time together and bled together when things got bad.
At the service William was in a dark corner in the back of the house. Nicole was out amongst the other members talking but his eyes stayed on the coffin. As much as he wanted Johnny to pop up and scream just kidding. William knew it wasn't the case. It took him and a few of the guys to get into the room Lulu had locked herself in with Johnny's body. Johnny would've woken up from worse injuries within 24 hours. 48 later and it was time.
They had to bust the door open and William had the honor of holding the crying woman back as the guys carried out the body. His body was luckily iron because she spent a while punching his chest before finally collapsing in tears. That was four days ago and the service seemed to drag on forever. When it was over the place emptied and the body remained to be cremated in the morning. William left before Nicole and by the time it was dark he was snorting various drugs in a clubs somewhere. It wasn't long before Nova and salic dropped him off to Nicole.
He was playing games still stoned and blitzed off his mind when buster call. Grabbing his keys he stumbled for the door to go save his friend. The man was screaming about johnny being alive so he knew buster did something stupid. Heading down the halls in his metal form he stumbled and crashed into walls before taking the stairwell that was closest. Tripping on his feet the sound of dings and clanks as he fell down flight after flight of stairs. Thank god for being iron man.

LIFE IS SHORT
chase the stars, fool.
[attr="class","boldtext"]
Death was so much simpler than life and then you had no worries. Passing was easy if people would've just left her be. Instead the Emergency responders cut the rebar down enough to remove Lulu's body from the wreck mangled sports car. She was taken to a hospital and the doctors tried calling a certain Mr. romes number but that was only picked up by Queenie. That sent some of the club to the hospital and the rest were scattered into the wind dealing with the lose in their own ways which meant a heavy cut into drug supplies.
The few sober headed members showed up but Lulu was in surgery for hours. It took time to remove Rebar from the home of the life in her stomach. Eventually she was put into a recovery room but she was gone in her mind. Lost in her sadness and her mind didn't make it any easier because her mind was on a loop. It was the greatest hits of Johnny and Lulus past. Memories every moment alone with him starting with fights. So many times she saw him walk out the door and she watched her self in the moment go the other way.
Lulu stood there in a hospital gown calling out for the Johnny in her memories just begging for him to hear her. all she got were various slamming doors. Those memories stopped and she found herself in what happened to be the worst day of her life. The day she walked into the room and found Johnny's lifeless body on a bed. Pushing people out of the room she locked the door and moved to a chair by the bed. Lulu was desperate to believe he was somehow still alive. "You werent suppossed to die... How could you leave me alone like this."
Lulu spoke to the pale lifeless man on the bed. Sitting on the side of the bed she gripped his hand. "Please come back...I cant do this without you..." Lulu leaned forward in her dream and pressed her face into his chest as tears escaped down her cheeks. How in the hell was she suppossed to even look at the club members again? She didnt want to wake up and she kinda hoped that she was just die in her sleep coma of sorts. "Johnny Rome. Please come back....Please dont go where i cant follow"

Four walls and a roof. The quiet, steady rhythmic beep of the heart monitor and the faint mumbling of people trying to save her. It was all a fog. Indiscernible white noise that seemed washed in from a tide on shore. Standing on a lake of still water was Johnny. Smiling. He seemed out of her reach, but also at peace. His collar was turned up and shiny leather touched the skin of his neck.
His hair seemed to flap in the breeze and hold it's slick back nature all the same. His hands were stuffed into the pockets of his jacket as he looked out at an old cabin peeking out of the woods. That cabin would be familiar. It was one of the first actual times they spent the night together. It was some hideway of Carson Falco's. Off the books and way off the radar, but Johnny knew of it. They were young, stupid. Just a couple of crazy kids that couldn't bear the idea of being apart from each other, even if it was for a single night. It was the good old days, the all or nothing days, after
Johnny had did what he did for her and stopped the trouble at home he knew he was hooked. He had blood on his hands that he had spilled for her and he knew nothing was ever going to be the same again. From that point on they had become insperable. Johnny was hard to get rid of to start with. If it hadn't been for his persistence and his boyish good looks he might've never captured her heart in the first place. A gust of wind sent ripples across the water.
Johnny who seemed to be surrounded by this fog, only moments before was now standing right in front of her. Within the lash of a blink he was there. Still smiling, only now it wasn't a king of the world smile. It was a soft, sincere smile. The kind that touched his lips at the thought of touching hers as he reached up a finger to her cheek and brushed away a tear. His thumb moved down her face and crashed against her lip pulling it slightly to show her teeth.
Any other time Lulu would have been pissed he messed up her make up, but here he simply put his forehead against hers and pulled her close. He was real. Real enough for the moment. Four walls and a roof, the quiet steady rhythmic hum of the tune on the radio and the mumbling of Johnny, whispering sweet nothing as he breathlessly kissed her and ran his hands across her shoulder. They were on a couch. Soft velvet and slightly lumpy. The song on the radio was of no consequence.
Though it was a long time ago and memories were foggy on the details, the same song that played that night was playing now. Johnny's eyes were dynamite. Explosive. Reliving the past so painful and so harsh that it might as well have been a dagger twisting up her insides.... Only it wasn't that night. This wasn't memories lane, this was a new memories. This was a dream. Johnny seemed..... Different now. Now as he paused his kisses across her shoulder and looked at her silently. Johnny's smile was soft, sincere.
The It was a king of the world smile, because he had lived a life beside his queen and it was more danger and fun than he had ever hoped for. "Ain't your time to follow Lu." He said quietly. His thumb brushed softly against her cheek once more and now he wasn't just looking at her. It seemed he was trying to take her all in; as if he wanted to remember her face. The cabin was filled with bright light. From behind him it showered over his form like a solar flare. Johnny's smile was soft and sincere. It was a king of the world smile. He placed something in her hand. Something she had had in her hand when she got in the accident......
Something she had been holding... A sonograph picture. "I'm not gone Lu....I'll always be with you, both of you." He said kissing her forehead and stepping back into the light. He was barely able to be made out over the bright white that enveloped him. He lit a cigarette. The collar popped up on his jacket and touching the skin of his neck as he turned to the light... The song on the radio still playing as he exited.... Four walls and a roof. The quiet, steady rhythmic beep of the heart monitor and the faint mumbling of people there to check on her....
The bright blinding light was softer, fluorescent; hospital lighting. A sonograph picture that Carson brought resting in Lulu's hand as he smiled down at the daughter he had always loved, but wasn't biologically his. "Scared us there kiddo..."

LIFE IS SHORT
chase the stars, fool.
[attr="class","boldtext"]
Everything in her dream world was surreal. She could see that old cabin that her and Johnny would run off to. They spent so many nights in the beginning of their story in that cabin. Just to get away from the club and have time to roll around in the sack. Those moments were ones she always cherished even after they became king and queen of the city. The cabin had been given to them by Carson and it still stood because Lulu kept it maintained over the years. Everything inside still the same including that old lumpy couch.
There was fog around her and she could see him there. So far out of reach and no mater how fast she tried to go it was like she was stuck in place. Though after a moment he was right there in front of her. His hand touched her cheek and she actually felt it there wiping her tears away. As his thumb touched her lips they just quivered a bit. His forehead touched hers as he pulled her closer. There was soft music going in the back ground and it was like a dagger making everything so much harder. His lips were on hers and she gripped his jacket as she kissed him in return.
His hands rubbed her shoulders and she felt warm before his lips moved to them. Lulu let her eyes close wanting to just get lost in the moment and maybe she would die herself. He paused and pulled back before looking at her. The smile on his face was soft and peaceful. No regrets in his eyes, but she had so many. All the time she wasted making him gain her trust. More sweet time she could've had with him but in this moment time was paused.
Johnny spoke softly and told her it wasn't her time to go. "I dont want to stay without you." She sniffled and cried but he just took in her face. She wiped her tears away as she looked at him. He slid something into her hand and she looked down to see the sonogram of their child. His next words just made her heart skip a beat. Saying he would always be with the both of them as he kissed her forehead. The music kept playing and she watched as he moved towards the bright light. All his features so soft and peaceful before he popped his collar. That did cause her to smile but it was a sad smile.
After that he was gone and back in the real world she opened her eyes. The sound of machines around her and a familiar voice. Carson was there and Queenie had come to take Jataya home for a while. "J....Johnny...dont... go..." Her soft voice cracked out as she became more aware of where she was. Lulu was alive and the very thought made all the pain come back. Since Johnny was gone she still felt him around everywhere the last 4 days.
Now she was here and she was in so much pain. Not from the wreck because astounding her wounds had rapidly started to heal. With the baby sharing her blood stream she gained the ability to heal from her child. AS she became more aware her body shifted as she sat up. She could feel the stitches in her skin and flinched in the pain. Pulling off the monitors and then jerking out the IV she was soon off the bed. Carson was in the room telling her to stay calm.
Her hands gripped her bed and with no effort it flew into the door stopping the doctors from entering for a moment. Grabbing Tv and ripping it through the wall she threw it through the rooms window and it rolled across the floor of the hall only stopping at the computer desk. Now men and nurses came it some with needles wanting to sedate her. Lulu had snapped and the pain was driving her anger in this moment. All she wanted was for someone to kill her now.

Time went on as her body was screaming at her to get rest, but since she cared about Lulu Hannah was forcing herself awake. Flicking the cigarette from her fingers, she watched as it took full form while flying down towards the ground. Pulling herself back into the room, her eyes fell on the still sleeping Lulu. Phasing back into the realm of the living, she moved over to her hand and ran her index finger across her forehead moving loose hairs out of the way. Leaning herself over the rails, Hannah gently kissed Lulu’s head while running a hand through her hair for a bit. Standing up straight again, she went and took her seat again and tried to get comfortable. Sitting there, she reached to her phone and unplugged it. Sliding her thumb over the little nodes to unlock the screen. Once unlocked, that image of her, Lulu and Jataya showed up due to it being her background image. Seeing a txt message, she brought it up and saw that it was Queenie, one of the gal’s that worked with Lulu. She messaged Hannah to let her know that she was coming over to pick up Jataya and take her home. Nodding her head a bit, she replied that she will get Taya up and ready. Setting the phone down onto the night stand, she pushed herself back up onto her feet. Moving through the room, she began to pick up the different things Lulu’s little sister had brought over to stay busy. Siding everything into the backpack, she sat down on the side of Jataya’s bed and gently shook her shoulder a bit. “Hey sweetie, Queenie is coming over to pick you up. Time to wake those little tired eyes. Maybe later, I’ll take you out for lunch.” Running her hand through Jataya’s hair, she stood up as the door knocked a couple of times and then opened.
The first person in was Queenie. Smiling tiredly, she picked up the backpack and helped Jataya get her shoes on. Holding her hand, she walked out of the room with them. But as they walked out of the room, there was a good bit of people standing out in the hallway. It was good to see so much support for Lulu. The one man, Carson, she had heard about him a couple of times and was the over all leader and badass of the club. Everyone was waiting to hear an update on how Lu was doing. “Lulu is going to be fine physically and is recovering from the surgery. She hasn’t woken up yet, so she needs her rest. The baby is fine as well, no permanent injuries that we have seen so far. You guys can go in and see her, but keep it down though. Other patients on this floor are asleep and not to mention her. Would hate to someone get hit by one of those heavy beds.” Walking down the two different halls. Yawning slightly, the three of them reached the elevators and Hannah pushed the down button. When the doors opened, Hannah handed the bag to Taya. When she said goodbye, Hannah smiled at her and said. “I’ll see you later today sweetie.” And the elevator doors shut to take them to the ground floor. Turning around, she began walking back towards the room Lulu was in, but before she did she went to the bathroom. Going to the sink, she turned on the cold water. Reaching her hands in, she felt the cold sting of the water hitting her hands. Cupping her hands together and splashed it across her face. Rubbing her hands up and down her face a couple of time, she then slid her wet hands through her hair.
Opening her eyes, she looked up at the mirror as she set her hands on the sink to hold her up a bit. “Damn....you looook like shit.” She said to herself. And she felt and looked like shit since she hasn’t slept in a long while. Turning the water off, she left the women’s bathroom and continued her trip until something caused her to stop in her tracks. Glass breaking was heard and then a TV that her and Jataya were watching a few hours before hand came flying past her and crashed into the nurses station counter. Then hearing a door beginning to be bashed in caused her heart to beat fast in worry as she ran down the hallway until she saw Nurses and some security slowly getting the door open. Running to them, she pushed her way into the room, but there was already a few nurses in ready to stick her. “Everyone...please calm down....” Hannah said as she raised her hands up and moved into view of Lulu. Deep down, she wished that she looked better for Lulu, but seeing her awake was a mutant good sign. “Tabitha...please girl, you need to calm down for the babies sake. To much stress can harm the little guy and he’s had a rough day already. Please doll....” Reaching for anchair, she turned it to face it towards Lulu. “...come and sit down with me.” Her Heavy bloodshot eyes watched Lulu. In her Scrub shirt pocket, she had a needle with a strong sedative inside of it. It was in case Lulu woke up freaking out and Hannah needed to calm her down. Feeling a bit bad that she wasn’t here to provent all of this to happen, she slid the chair a bit closer towards Lulu, hoping she will at least sit down.
Keith had thought everything between him and Lulu had been good, great even. But everything came crashing into reality when he was told about her engagement to Johnny. He’d never felt any kind of betrayal like that before. Sure they hadn’t been completely exclusive or anything and he was mostly around to help with watching Jataya. But in some ways his heart was crushed into ash and so were his siblings.
A month and a half ago after everything had happened, the bigger surprise of being sent to Detroit caught him and the kids off guard. Keith at first hadn’t known how to feel, but the kids were devastated. Donnie didn’t show it, but it had bothered him quite a bit, Xavier and Tommy were upset having to leave all their friends and school to something completely different, and poor Ellie couldn’t stop crying. She had asked why, asked if it was something she had done, if Keith could make Lulu change her mind. And that broke his heart more than anything.
In recent times he was starting to resent the Fool’s, wishing he had never met any of them. He spent most of his nights at illegal fight clubs to let out his anger and pain. Honestly, he didn’t want to go back to New York when hearing about Johnny’s death. He knew it would mean seeing Lulu and that had not been on his agenda. Though he knew it would help Ellie seeing Jataya.
Having made it to the church Keith had made eye contact with Lulu for a swift moment. He could see the hurt on her face. His eyes drifted down towards her abdomen and he couldn’t help but think about how that kid wouldn’t be able to talk to his dad. Everything went by at a slow pace, but eventually it was over. Ellie and Jataya played for a while until the call came in about Lulu being in the hospital. Keith had taken the kids back to the clubhouse to try and get them settled back in. They decided to stay in the apartment as Keith headed down to the bar and got himself a few drinks.
Losing someone is never an easy thing to deal with. Nicole kenw this in some way, but this day had been one of the worst. Ever since everything that had happened in Detroit, Johnny and Lulu had been her family. Like an older brother and sister. She didn’t believe it at first when the call had come in, but seeing Lulu as upset and distraught as she was it slowly sunk in.
Nicole knew this would trigger another drunken and drugged stupor out of William. She knew how close the guys were. Though with her hormones being all over the place she couldn’t keep her feelings hidden well enough. A few times she had lost her temper much quicker than anytime before, and tears would fall swifter down her cheeks. Whenever that happened William always disappeared and eventually it was back to Nicole sleeping in their big bed alone. His side of the bed always so cold and empty.
Her dreams though, consisted of nightmares. Always being haunted by everything that happened those months she was gone. Now with William focused on himself again, it was harder for her to sleep. She’d find herself lying awake in bed, too scared to get any sleep. Afraid of the doubts coming out and Davie’s face in her head. The added stress of having to pick up William from wherever he wanders to when he’s all doped up and drunk didn’t help.
The day of the funeral Nicole had gotten ready, and sat wiping at her eyes at the touching service. She paid her respects and chatted with others. Occasionally she’d look over at William seeing that distant stare and she wished somehow she could take the pain away. Though things went back to them separating to their own places in the apartment as pain had shot through her abdomen. Being on her feet so much was starting to be painful.
As the night went on she had made dinner when William’s phone had gone off. Before she knew it William was out the door and she heard clunking down the hall. A sigh of frustration left her lips as she grabbed her phone and jacket following after him. Taking the elevator down she’d occasionally hear a thunk against the wall and she had to cover her mouth to keep from laughing. This wasn’t a laughing matter but she couldn’t help it.
When the doors opened in the car garage she saw William stumbling his way to his truck. Waddling as quickly as she could after him she huffed as she got closer and took the keys from his hand. “You’re not driving like this. Get in and I’ll drive.” It was hard to get into the truck, but she wasn’t letting him get into an accident on her watch. Her abdomen pinched with pain again and she did her best to muffle the groan she gave. Buckling up and starting the truck she waited for the address before getting on the road.
Stuntman Johnny Rome, the big brother of the Fool’s. The go to man… and he was gone. Snuffed out from this world in a single night. It was so unbelievable that he was gone. It had to be a very very very unfunny prank. It had to be that. To Harper, everyone from her past was just disappearing, changing or leaving. Her mind couldn’t wrap around the fact that even after how long it was, Johnny was gone. He was never going to come back. Even though she’d only known everyone for about seven years, she felt so torn up.
Tears hadn’t stopped since finding out about Johnny and it wasn’t just that he was gone. But poor Lulu was alone, pregnant with his baby. For a few days she kept herself locked away, if only to keep from the temptation of dealers and other drugs to drown her system. Since the bbq party Draven had her under house arrest. Almost overdosing in the bathroom she had been on the verge of dying herself. But now that she was alive, someone else had to die in her place. Though it had absolutely nothing to do with each other at all.
Eventually though the day of the funeral had come and she was coaxed out of her room. Her blue eyes bloodshot, cheeks and eyes red and puffy from all the crying. She and Draven still hadn’t talked about the months they were in that coma, but that didn’t matter much to her anymore. It was already solidified in her mind she ruined any chances of being the woman he wanted or even needed in his life. He’d be better off with someone better, prettier and smarter. Not someone so broken that a soft breeze could break her.
The service had dragged by as she sat in the back. Her eyes never left the floor as she had done a hasty paying of respects and dodged out back to the clubhouse. Taking two bottles of vodka she had gone back to her room and popped the top off one. Chugging most of the contents she curled up on the couch not wanting to be part of the world.
