3249 Hollywood Lane, Mohegan Lake NY (Westchester County)A hacker's job never stops for anything, Elise thought as she watched the illegal downloads of music burn themselves onto CDs and USB flash drives, thoughts of the money to be made selling the ill-gotten gains at clubs around the suburbs of the Big Apple...it certainly helped pay for this house, she mused, smiling as she leaned back in her downstairs office chair, the downloads proceeding at a decent clip. As she leaned back, she thought about the past two months and everything that had transpired - her romantic affairette with Hannah dominating her thoughts and attention most days. She often thought about Hannah when she wasn't working on computers or hacking into everything she could get her hands on.
To Elise, the rules were very simple: it ain't cheating if you don't get caught. One of the first things she learned to do, after learning she was a mutant capable of hacking into various computer systems, was to hack onto music and movie websites and illegally download everything she could get her hands on, the products of which she would then sell to classmates and others - at first, for pocket change, then for larger amounts of money. It wasn't just downloads either; as soon as learned how to work on computers, she would often times use her repair work to both hack into businesses' computers - sometimes the very same businesses she was doing work for - and download and steal their trade secrets, secrets she would then sell for lots of money....enough to get my repair business really going, Elise mused with a sly smile, getting up from her chair to stretch out her muscles a bit.
Then came her brief affair with Hannah, an affair which, while it didn't entirely work out, left Elise feeling better about a lot of things in her life than she'd been feeling in quite some time, enough for her to take the opportunity and chance to move out of Brooklyn and out into the country - or, at least the New York suburbs, Elise thought as she withdrew the flash drives and CDs' and put them in storage cases, replacing them with another set of each kind and turning the downloader back on. Shouldn't take too long now, she thought, deciding to go ahead and shower and change while she had the opportunity.
Rushing upstairs, Elise stripped off her sweatshirt and denim shorts and threw them onto the bed, grabbing a large towel and going into the bathroom; cutting the water on, she waited until it was steaming and then stepped inside, taking a quick but satisfying shower. She had plans for tonight to go out clubbing and she wanted to look good doing so, so she showered and cut the water off, drying herself off with the towel as she stepped out into the bathroom. Looking at herself in the mirror, she began fixing her hair and thinking about what she was going to wear tonight, figuring a good night out would do her some good. After making sure her hair was the way she liked it, Elise wrapped the towel around her and went back into the bedroom, where she opened up her sliding-door closet and began rifling through her clothes, looking for something to wear out tonight. "Ahh, there we go," she whispered, taking out a mid-length black dress and laying it out on the bed. Dropping her towel to the floor, she slipped on the dress, which seemed to hug her curves in just the right places, and looked herself over in a nearby mirror...damn, you look good, girl, she mused, making sure the back zipper was fixed in place. Slipping on a pair of lace-up 4" heels, Elise looked every bit the beautiful woman going out for a night on the town; after checking to see that everything was in place yet again, she headed out of the bedroom and bounded down the stairs, going down to her office and removing the other set of flash drives and CDs and putting them in storage cases - all of which she placed in a sling purse she carried over her shoulder. Hopefully, I'll get top dollar for these downloads, she thought, as she walked back upstairs. Grabbing her car keys, she stepped outside, locked the front door, and walked confidently over to her Tesla Roadster; climbing inside, she set the sling purse in the passenger seat and fired up the Tesla, backing out of the driving for the trip into the city.....what Elise didn't know, however, was that one of the flash drives had a small tracker on it and it was sending out a signal - to whom it wasn't clear - but unbeknownst to her, her activities had caught the eye of certain individuals and there would soon be a reckoning for her.....
Ever since Abigail had gotten a taste of freedom she savored the taste. Air smelled cleaner. Life seemed richer. She wouldn't be stuck in some hellhole prison cell any time soon. The fact of the matter was Abigail was a bit of a bad girl. She had a pension for getting herself into trouble. Writing checks with her mouth that superman couldn't cash, and yet she never learned her lesson. The alarm went off in a jewerly store as Abigail smiled and gave a sarcastic little salute to the proprietor.
Abby's eyes glowed red with the devilish smirk splastered across her lips as she hopped up on a swirling vortex of flames and rode it out the shop door like a fiery comet. A fiery streak blazed across the sky as Abby comically looked like a bandit from a cartoon. She had pearl necklaces and jewels simply dripping off her and a priceless tiarra sitting haphazardly on her head slightly tilted.
Abby was just looking for a little fun. She didn't need all this bling, but the fact that it was so easy to take was too easy to pass up. Abby rode her streak across town until she found a little cabin out in the middle of nowhere. It was Elise's house. Weather or not she was returning didn't matter. The house was empty now.
Abby settled down on the grass scorching the front yard and burning the grass on her landing. She pushed up several slinky bracelets that adorned her slender wrists and with a confident strut walked right up the front steps of the hacker's humble abode and let herself in. "Hellloooooo?" She called out playfully. With no answer and a shrug from Abby she tossed her stolen loot bag on the couch and headed into the kitchen. She was starving.

Well, that was a nice profit I made tonight off all that hacked stuff I got today, Elise said to herself as she turned into her driveway; shutting the engine to her Tesla Roadster off, she sat and quietly smiled, holding the three $5,000 packets of money - 3 packets each with 250 $20 bills - for 12 USB flash drives, 6 large-storage CD-ROMs and other items she'd handed over. I just wish he hadn't been so damn handsy, she thought, remembering that he'd tried to paw at her so much that she told them she didn't date guys, just girls. That, of course, had made him angry and caused him to sulk away but what were you going to do? Elise had had her eye on a beautiful autumn-blonde that reminded her of her late girlfriend Ashleigh but once the memories came to mind, it was all she could do to rush out to her car and get in.
Once she was outside, she quickly walked to her car, got in, and drove as fast as she could back to the house. Several times she had to remind herself to slow down lest she get pulled over, and she'd have the devil to pay in trying to explain the 15 grand in her possession. Didn't stop me from showing my charms to that one state trooper a few weeks ago, Elise thought with a sly grin; once she'd been pulled over for speeding 70 in a 45 zone.....after hacking the trooper's cameras in his vehicle as she sat waiting to be arrested, she'd somehow - with a combination of her womanly charms, her looks and a few illicit acts behind the trooper's vehicle - gotten away with just a warning. Just remembering it made her feel all warm inside and calmed her nerves down.
Pulling into her driveway, Elise got out, money safely ensconced in her purse as she walked up to the front door, unaware of the burn patch in her front yard. Pausing as she looked around, she thought, Someone got the grill out this later? as she opened the door and stepped inside... and with a confident strut walked right up the front steps of the hacker's humble abode and let herself in. "Hellloooooo?" She called out playfully. With no answer and a shrug from Abby she tossed her stolen loot bag on the couch and headed into the kitchen. She was starving.
I wasn't expecting anyone, Elise thought as she closed the front door and called out, "Who's in here?" walking towards the dining room and kitchen because that's where she thought the stranger's voice was. "Come out where I can see you," she called out, trying to work up the courage to confront the intruder as she quietly slipped off her heels, holding them in one hand as an impromptu weapon, ready to swing for the fences if she had to....
At first everything was quiet. Whoever lived here didn't have shit all in the way of food in the fridge. The cabinets were about as bare as could be, there was some protein shakes mix and a few boxes of stale crackers. Abigail was beginning to think that this place was just abandoned, but there were the little touches that proved otherwise. There was no layer of dust, practically anywhere. The place just had that, lived in feel and it was hard to shake the feeling that it wasn't but recently that someone had even been here.
Abigail didn't notice warm cushions on the couch or anything like that. She wasnt Sherlock freaking Holmes, but she was observant enough to be on her guard as she munched away at her sandwich. Then a voice out of nowhere startled her. Abigail flattened herself against the wall. Through sheer will alone she shrunk her body and pressed it tightly into the shadows along the pantry wall. Fuck. She thought. She wasnt trying to reinact goldilock and the three bears. Someones been eating my sandwichs said the pappa bear... Let me get my fucking shotgun.
People were crazy now days and she definatly didn't want to escape on hell only to be treated to the end of a double barrell shotgun from some crazed hillbilly. Her first reaction was to jumpu out the open kitchen window until her mind registered the sound she had actually heard. It was a female voice. A lovely sounding one at that, soft and sweet and maybe a little scared. Abby's fingers ached against the wall as she decided to step around the corner, sandwich in hand. "You're out of mustard. What the hell do you eat in this place?" She commented with a smirk.
Her arms folded across her chest after tossing her sandwich casually on the coffee table. It was so just..... Non chalant. LIke it wasn't completely odd that she was here in someone else's house. But then again, That was Abigail to a T. She was ballsy and brash and she stepped on toes on purpose. Once she was fairly sure there wasn't any real danger she was more than happy to flash her pretty smile, bat her eyes and see if she could work this sucker for something valuable. After all, a girl's gotta eat.

Taking cautious, small steps across the carpeted floor of her home, Elise's senses were on fire, ready to spring out and defend herself against whoever had entered her home...then she noticed that whoever had entered was in the kitchen and by the sounds of it, enjoying something to eat. What the hell are they doing, eating? she wondered; she had just stocked up her cabinets and refrigerator that morning and was going to go through everything, sorting it out the next morning but that was obviously not going to happen. She just didn't want anyone to find out the crap-ton of money she'd made that night selling illicit hacked material and as sure as she'd call the cops, that's what would happen, somehow. Someway, that's what would happen.
Taking several more steps, Elise soon found herself standing face-to-face with a woman who looked as though she had tattoos from every freak show on earth...
"Whatever I can afford, thank you very much," Elise replied, watching as the woman - whose name she didn't know - casually, almost nonchalantly, threw her mostly-eaten sandwich back onto the kitchen table, standing there with the biggest smirk Elise had ever seen someone have. It was a look Elise had never seen before, the look of someone who knew what they wanted, when they wanted it and didn't hesitate doing whatever it took to get it done....things Elise had never had to face in her life and it froze her, it stone froze her for some time as she tried to process what to do, what to say. I can't reach for the phone; its' on the other side of whoever this intruder is, Elise thought, so I can't call 911...not that I'd want to call 911. What and let a bunch of flatfoots in here? Not doing that...but what do I do?
Taking a few moments to set her heels down on the floor alongside the wall where she was standing, Elise got her confidence back and stood there, arms folded her chest, hips set a\just a little aside as if she were merely amused over what was going on rather than scared out of her damn mind at the sight of the intruder in her home. "Who, uhmm," Elise asked, "who are you and what are you doing here?"

Abigail was honestly kind of stunned. She hadn't expected the face she rounded the corner into to be quite so adorable. Still, she kept her poker face strong. Abigail's smirk was all but gone. She crossed her arms in a show of defiance when Elise coldly declared she got what she could afford. It wasn't like she was trying to be a bitch. It was just part of her personality. Abigail was used to being the big dog. And the big dog always ruled the yard. Only, this wasn't her yard. She supposed she should play nice.
Afterall it would be all so easy for this chick to just call the cops on her. And while Abigail was more than capable of just frying the cops who wanted the hassle? She was trying to lay low. She was fresh off a prison escape. Surely someone was looking for her. 'Look here short stuff.' She thought in her head . Her arms were still crossed. Abigail shifted her weight to her back foot. "Name's Pepper. I'm kind of on the run from some mutant hating assholes." She wasn't sure why she was being so up front and honest with her.
Partly maybe because she was still wearing an orange prison jumpsuit. "I escaped from a G.A.D.E.M. facility, but don't worry I'm not dangerous." With a wink she smirked. "Not too dangerous." Abigail opted to give her, a mutant codename rather than anything more personal. Moving towards the door she sighed. "Look, I"m just going to get out of your hair. You seem like a nice, respectable chiore girl. Wouldn't want to drag you down." She started to reach for the doorhandle. Even though she didn't really know where she was going.

Watching the woman standing in her kitchen fold her arms across her chest, Elise's demeanor went from cold detachment to a sincere thought of, for starters, just wanting to know who this woman was that had, somehow, entered her house. Leaning a little more over towards the wall, Elise - still wearing her little black dress - listened as the woman spoke... "Name's Pepper. I'm kind of on the run from some mutant hating assholes." She wasn't sure why she was being so up front and honest with her.
"Pepper, huh?" Elise replied, glad to at least finally know who the woman with the tats was and while it should've shocked her to also hear that Pepper was running from - Elise assumed as an escaped con - mutant hunters or cops or some authority or something. "Nice to meet you, Pepper; my name's Elise and this is my humble abode. I'm also on the run from the authorities as well, unfortunately. Apparently, they hate it when someone tries to download and illegal sell music, movies and stuff like that. They especially hate it when you hack secrets out from under their grasp," Elise said, not with any kind of arrogance or braggadocio in her voice; just humbleness. Humbleness at staying ahead of the cops, humbleness at not getting caught...humbleness at actually having feelings towards others and not being, as one ex had said to her years ago, "a cold, heartless bitch."
The more she looked at Pepper, still wearing her orange prison outfit - Elise could still see the USP lettering on the side - the more she really wanted to know her, if not for any other reason than to just have someone to talk to... "I escaped from a G.A.D.E.M. facility, but don't worry I'm not dangerous." With a wink she smirked. "Not too dangerous."
Before Elise could say anything else, Pepper headed for the door... Moving towards the door she sighed. "Look, I"m just going to get out of your hair. You seem like a nice, respectable choir girl. Wouldn't want to drag you down." She started to reach for the doorhandle. Even though she didn't really know where she was going.
"Hey, you're not dragging me down," Elise replied, racing over to stop Pepper from leaving. She just didn't want Pepper to leave; why? Elise honestly didn't know; she just didn't want to be alone. Reaching out, Elise's hand was on top of Pepper's, holding her hand fast to the door handle. Elise could feel the heat coming off of Pepper's hand; it felt tingly, like someone was lightly tickling her hand but she didn't care. "Don't go, okay?" she said, looking at Pepper. "Don't go; stay." Looking down at herself, then back at Pepper, Elise said, "Look, let me change out of this dress, alright; I just got back from the club and apparently struck out tonight...umm," pausing as she bit her lip and nonchalantly gave Pepper a look-over, "you look about my size and build; maybe I got something you can wear so you can get out of those overalls or whatever they were, okay?" By now Elise had given up all pretense of coldness; she just wanted someone near, even if it might've been for one night. "Come on, let's go and see if we can't find you something to wear? We'll do that and maybe we can talk a little bit; that couldn't hurt, could it?" Elise said, trying not to stutter or appear nervous but failing at it.
