When one has lived as long as Hades, you tend to lose track of hours as one moment is day time and the sun is just rising over the horizon, the next, the sun is setting. A lot of his time was divided with opening new clubs in New York, and Rhode Island and the repairs to the first club when a massive fight broke out and the place was flooded when a water manipulation mutant had lost control of his abilities. So he had to over see the reconstruction of the different sections and the spending for the three new clubs being built. Feeling a bit tired, he sat back in his office chair and rubbed his face. Sliding his hands down to his neck, he looked at the picture of him and his young girlfriend Lyla. Reaching to it, he picked it up and slid his thumb up and down slowly over her as he smiled. With her schooling and with him busy, the two of them haven’t had real much time to spend together. When they did, it wasn’t for real long and was more of a celebration that they saw each other. Setting it back down, he wanted to have some time with his love. He was remembering how they first met in Central Park. It was something that had given him an idea. Smiling more, he pulled his laptop closer to him and began to look things up and was making special plans for Lyla. It took him about two hours to get some of the main fine points of his plans. Pushing a few numbers on his office, he spoke into the mic. “Mary, tell everyone I’ll be leaving early and to leave all notes and bills on my desk. I am not to be disturbed for the rest of today and tomorrow. And let Alfred know to bring the car around front.” Then he ended the call as he stood up and readjusted his black suit jacket. Sliding his phone into his pocket, he went around the desk and left his office.
Walking through the carnage of what was left of the dance floor to head for the exit, he moved out of the way of the workers as they were told that they had a strict deadline as to when their employer wanted to reopen his doors. Going up the spiral staircase to the surface, he took out his sunglasses and put them on. He would have taken the elevators, but sadly, they were smashed during the mass fight. Let’s just say, it’s not wise to have a Weregorilla and a rock shifting Mutants that is drunk in a small space with high egos. Stepping out into the light, he took in a deep breath of the air outside. The black Mercedes SUV was sitting out front as requested with his British Butler Alfred standing on the sidewalk with the passenger rear side door open. Getting in, Alfred shut the door behind Hades and went to the driver side where he then gotten in. “So sir, where shall it be?” The old butler of his asked. Hades looked at the old looking man and said. “Alfred, we are going to be a bit busy all day. I hope your up to it?” The old gentleman smiled and said in reply. “It’s an honor and a privilege sir.” The majority of the day they were running around to different stores getting what he wanted for his little surprise. The back of the SUV was filled with different items such as plates, silverware, food, two bottles of wine and champagne. This wasn’t even half of what he purchased. There was even a bit where he had to sneak into her bedroom to set a couple of things laid onto her bed. One being a black dress that would hug her body, a hand written letter from Hades and beside her dress, sat his helmet. It was rather easy to slip in through the darkness of the dress store and into her closet and back. Once back into the vehicle, he took his phone out and made a couple of calls. He was calling in his favors that a few cops owed him and within ten minutes of each call, he had tonight set perfectly.
It was getting late in the afternoon when he checked the time. Fixing his jacket, he said to his butler/driver. “Alfred, I think it’s coming time for the surprise to be sprung. Drop me off at the place we discussed earlier and go to her mother’s apartment where you will pick up my love.” Alfred nodded his head and took his employer to the location that will lead Lyla to later on. Getting out, Hades walked down the one path with a smile on his face. No one was around except for cops every few hundred feet, (groups of two each time) and he nodded his head as everything was getting set and prepared, especially the meals as requested. Once she finds the folded letter, it read as so.
”My darling Lyla,
You have made me the happiest man in the word, nor did I ever think I would have ever found such happiness that you have given me so far. I know I have been very busy as of late with my business and we haven’t had enough time for us to spend together. I hope to change all of that real soon my darling Siren. There hasn’t been a single moment in the day I’m not looking at your picture or that I’m not thinking of you my love. Outside, you will find Alfred waiting for you. As you have noticed, I placed on your bed my helmet. Take it with you to the place we first met. Put it on the ground and do what I told you to do that night when you helped me and that we shared a bed for the first time at the Palace. And in the darkness, I shall wait for you where only your light has pierced.
Love and always, Hades”
“You all are nothing but dust compared to a god, for a god is an idea and ideas...are...immortal!”
School had been in full swing with exams, quizzes, and evaluations for joining the X-team. But seeing as Lyla never had the kind of intentions to become part of the X-team she didn’t have to go through the evaluation. Though she always had a picture with her to remind her of someone dear to her heart. Someone she hadn’t thought she’d ever truly meet in eons. Just thinking of the picture of her by Hades’s side made a bright smile take over her lips. She was sad having to focus on her studies so much. The only time she’s had was a few hours the past day or two before having to go home and study more.
However, with more mutants missing all students had to take self-defense. Lyla walked out of the training room, her body sore and slightly bruised in places she didn’t even know she had. A heavy sigh left her lips as she went to the changing rooms. There she had showered, changed and the bus arrived for the students that had homes in the cities. Getting on she leaned her head against the window watching the world go by as she got closer to home.
Arriving home Lyla walked to her mom’s apartment and seeing as she wasn’t home, Lyla was going to have a relaxing day. Little did she know she how much of a relaxing night she would have. Dropping her bag by the door she kicked off her shoes and moved to her bedroom. Opening the door nothing was out of place until her eyes focused on a beautiful black dress, Hades helmet, and a letter. Opening the letter she read it with excitement.
Getting into the bathroom she applied some makeup, then changed. The black dress as she zipped it up fit her form perfectly. A light blush came to her face thinking Hades had memorized her body that well. It brought a tingle to the base of her skull skittering along her spine inciting a heat to spark. Then again since that first night it wasn’t that hard to get Lyla excited. Putting on some stilettos she’s worn only once before she picked up the helmet and back down to the ground floor she walked.
A bright smile came to Lyla’s lips as Alfred stood there opening the car door for her. “Good evening Ms. Lyla.” Stepping in Alfred lightly closed the door and got into the driver’s seat. Lyla sat in excited silence as Alfred drove. She knew exactly where they were going. It was just the waiting that took longer than the actual drive.
Getting to Central Park Alfred parked and helped Lyla from the seat of the SUV. Signing to him her thanks she smiled and waved as he drove a distance away. Taking a deep breath the air had a little chill to it as the sun was starting to dip lower in the sky. The bright orange, pinks, and purples catching her eyes as she looked up. ‘How did I get so lucky?’ She thought. Just months ago she had been the one girl hardly any guy wanted to know, and now she’s with a man that treats her like a queen. Worries seemed to drift off her shoulders as she began to walk the pathway to where they had first met. The memory played itself as she walked the stone pathway.
Even though her legs burned, and the soles of her feet hurt she wasn’t going to stop for any length of time. Placing the helmet on the ground she took a deep breath. 'Hades...Hades...Hades.' She thought, her eyes closing with a smile on her glossy lips.
With his eyes closed, he was seen in this endless darkness, laying with his hands crossed behind his head. Hades was in between his realm and the realm of the living where the shadows were more sensitive. A semi-circular metal object was placed on the ground in the real world. His eyes slowly opened as he could see the ripples of the shadows as if it was all water that floated above him. Turning himself upright in the endless void, his mind heard that beautiful voice of her’s calling out for him. She was where she was instructed to be at in Central Park. Slowly, he rose through his darkness and was heading towards the realm his lover was in. With the helmets opening facing towards Lyla, she would see blackness like tar pouring out of the helmet and something round had filled the empty space of the ancient helm that belonged to her just as ancient lover. A mass began to rise from the pool of darkness and the helmet rose up with it. While it stood to Hades full height, other features such as arms and legs took form from the fluid like shadows.
The darkness that had spewed across the ground began to be sucked into the figure until it was just the black figure. Oozing into his body, Hades was now seen standing before her with a smile on his face. He was seen wearing a black suit that somewhat hugged his figure in areas like his chest, his thighs and his shoulders. Stepping forth from his spot, he walked over to her. His eyes looking her up and down admiring how the dress fit her like a glove. Wrapping his arms around the small of her back, he pulled her against himself. Her auroma was alluring as he smelled her hair. The strength he had made it easy for him to lift her up and off her feet. Pressing his lips against her’s, drinking up her warmth that her body produced. Able to feel each other’s heartbeats beating together. As he kissed her, he gently spun her around and then set her down onto her feet again. Breaking the kiss, he rested his forehead against hers and looked into her eyes. “I’ve missed you my Siren, and how that dress looks ever so beautiful on you.” With one arm still around her the small of her back, he stepped so that he stood beside Lyla. Hades hand rested on the top portion of her hip as the two of them moved along the trail. He was taking them to the spot where Hades had intervened with the help of a certain three headed dog. With each of their steps getting closer to the spot, the scents of different foods being cooked was starting to get thicker and thicker. “Since we haven’t been able to spend as much time like we have lately, I figured I’d make this time more...special.” Hades said, explaining.
With his helmet on, she was allowed to use her voice since the helmet negated the affects of her abilities. He loved to listen to her talk and to give them hands a break from signing or from writing on her chalkboard that she had usually carried around with her. Drawing near, the sight of a table for two was now seen with a bottle of red wine on ice, Two lit candles and silverware and plates that looked expensive. Leading her to the table, he pulled a chair out for her and slowly pushed it in for her when she seated herself. Going half way around the table, he picked up the bottle of wine that has been breathing for a couple of hours, he poured some of the exotic liquid into a wine glass in front of her, then poured the same amount into his own glass. Setting it back into the silver bucket, he went and sat in his own chair. The white table cloth around the table hung off almost touching the ground. Further down the path was the darkened tunnel where three sets of eye shines could be seen now looking at them both. There was no hiding the fact it was Cerberus since he took up the whole tunnel walk way to cause no light to enter from either side of the tunnel. The massive dog crawled out from it’s spot and stood up fully on all four legs. His massive tail was swinging back and forth as he walked over to them and laid down by the table.
It’s one head laid next to Lyla where as it’s one eye looked at her as all three heads painted to themselves. Cerberus was happy to see her again. Hades slid his helmet off and placed it on the table. Lifting his wine glass, he tilted it slightly to her as he said, “A toast my love..to happiness of two era’s in one location.” Once they were to touch both glasses together, he sipped from his glass and set it back down. His eyes looked upon Lyla and never hindered from it. Smiling more, two waiters came walking towards them with trays covered with what looked like silver bowls. They had placed them down in front of both Lyla and Hades and withdrew the bowls to show them their meals. Lyla’s was a Chicken carbonara with Penne noodles, Parmesan and Mozzarella cheese topped it along with a red sauce. His meal was Chicken Parmesan with a small bowl of noodles of spaghetti with white clam sauce. “Our meals look good.” Thinking to himself in his mind, ‘much like she does. Ever so elegant and beautiful...such a divine person.’
