Johnny could pretend like nothing was wrong. He could smile and dance for the world and everything would look as if it was turning up aces for the kid. Johnny had always been good at putting on a show. The truth was though, he missed her. From the creaking and shaking of the bed frame when she was hot under the collar about something, to the simple way she always used to chew on her pen caps when she was really into whatever it was she was reading. He couldn't get the girl out of his head.
Johnny had tried foolishly to get her out of his head. Sparring down a few hood rats, for the company and nothing more. It never got past the front porch. The boys in the club saw Johnny leave night after night with a cute fresh face, but he said his goodbyes as he dropped them off. Still, putting on a show for everyone. Only the person he really wanted to convince that he was over Lulu was himself. Everytime he closed his eyes she was there. Not to mention they ended things with no warning.
What did she expect. Johnny was a criminal. He was used to getting what he wanted and not having much resistance in it either. There was a smug and arrogant charm about him, that she loved and had always loved, but Johnny Rome had created his own monster. He had indulged Lulu giving her everything she ever wanted until the things he could give her were no longer enough. She wanted more than just a life in the fools. Johnny was slowly realizing without Lulu, his place here didn't mean much of shit. Johnny slumped on his couch and lazily flipped through the channels on the tv. There was nothing on of much interest. His mind was in other places.
Johnny reached in his pocket and pulled out his cell phone. The smooth familiar edges felt strange in his hand. He hadn't picked up his phone in days. The truth was he was tired of pretending for everyone. Johnny hadn't left his house in days. He looked at the phone with a curious glance and sat it on the edge of the table.
There was a few missed calls from some of the boys on there and they were all kind of wondering what was up with the fearless leader. There was even one message on his phone about Carson coming back. Johnny hadn't gotten around to reading that bit of information yet either. He picked up his phone after a short staring contest and pulled up the text messages. He found Lulu's name and started to type.
New Message: 09:26pm Hey, It's me... Look, there's just some things I want to get off my chest. Meet me at Comerica Park. You should be able to walk right in. I have an in with the owner. See you in an hour.
Johnny put the phone down and sighed. He didn't have much time he decided to get a shower and get presentable. Right now he was just in a wife beater and some old silk basketball shorts. Comerica park was the home of the baseball team the Detroit Tigers. It was where Johnny ended up taking her for their first date and even though she didn't really care for baseball, johnny had always been a fan. She pretended to be interested that night at least. Johnny thought back about the first date and smiled. Shaking his head lightly he went to get ready. He felt good about this.

Being back in Detroit was the last thing she wanted to deal with honestly. It had taken some convincing but Keith let her go alone while he stayed home and watched her little sister. She didn't want to bring the little girl in to deal with retaliation and bullets. Hell the only reasons she was here was respect for Carson and to help plan. Lulu may have been a dolled up princess but her eye for carnage was one that not many could match. Maybe buster had the same but he was back in buffalo with William keeping that branch of the club going.[break][break]
Lulu wasn't staying at the clubhouse for this visit and she had booked a rather fancy hotel. Mostly she didn't want to be face to face with johnny and fall under that charm of his. Ending up in his bed without a fight because he knew just how to make her bend to his will. Hell right now she found herself in a silk bathrobe eating like a buffet of food because the baby just had to have Alfredo and chocolate cake.[break][break]
The familiar ringtone of her past went off and she just glanced down at her phone. It was Johnny and he wanted to meet her in the place of their first date. It was a bad idea but she found herself in a rush to get ready and be the dolled up version of herself that everyone knew. Had to keep up the appearance that she was fine and handling everything well. Sure Kieth was there to help her but she didn't love him the same way.[break][break]
it was a horrible truth but it was the way it was. Lulu made it to the stadium and had all these memories about their first date. She was a teenage girl who had zero interest in sports but she tried her best to fake her excitement. either way it had turned out to be one of her favorite memories. Walking down the rows of seats she found Johnny staring at the field. Pausing for a moment she gained her composure before walking towards him and tapping his shoulder. "What do you want Johnny?" were the only words she could find to muster out to him. Her guard was up as she kept a safe distance from him and her hand rested on the small bump forming in her stomach.
Johnny stood there among the quiet surroundings. The field was empty, the lush green grass almost sparkled with the outfield lights shining on it. The stadium was dead quiet though the sheer size of the place was something to marvel at. The field was a haunted ghost town.
Only earlier in the day this place was buzzing with life. There was a game against the New York Yankees. Funny how the club split like that. Half of them went off to New York and today's game was New York vs. Detroit. Life had a way of shoving signs in your face at every turn. Most were just too damn stupid to realize them.
Johnny licked his lips and puffed on his cigarette. The smoke drifted and rose around his head and left his figured baking in a swifty shroudy cloud of smoke. It was as much for his nerves as it was for the fact that he was just killing time. Honestly Johnny was a bundle of nerves. The last time he just wanted to talk to Lulu it didn't go so well.....
Johnny was lost in his thoughts staring out over third base when he heard the familiar voice. A chill ran down his spine. The little taste of goosebumps kissing along his forearms. Lulu was always good at making Johnny feel like a little kid all over again. Johnny was quiet at first. Something in the back of his throat seized his vocal cords. "You came." Johnny didn't mean for his voice to sound as surprised as he did.
"I remember when I brought you here. Tigers won 3-0. You had on a red dress. You were way over dressed, I could tell you were a little upset that we ended up here, but in the end i think you actually had fun." Johnny looked out over the field lost in his remembrances. Turning back to her Johnny's face was soft and quiet. For some reason he couldn't quite look her in the eye. Though he forced himself to man up and make eye contact.
"What are we doing here Lu? We just pretending this shit don't bother us? It's killing me! I want you back Lu." Johnny didn't wait another minute. he dropped to one knee and emerged from his pocket with a ring box. He opened it to reveal the biggest, shiniest rock she had ever seen. Off behind center filed the score board lit up with the words "SAY YES!" Johnny's smile wasn't soft and quiet anymore, it was scared and nervous.

This place was the beginning of many memories to come for the iconic couple. Still it was also something that left her feeling bittersweet. Standing in the first place, you had a date with the guy that was supposed to be your forever. When everything in that world had shattered and turned sideways. Now her mind was lost in memories of that day and all the time she spent getting ready. That red dress she bought had cost her half the pathetic savings she had managed to hide from Harold. After so much time of him trying to get her to go out and she figured it would be something fancy.[break][break]
Isn't that how dates normally went? Atleast according to the few female waitresses she considered friends had said. Instead she found herself as some stadium that didn't look nearly this nice. Apparently times were good for the owner because this place smelled new. She could see fresh coats of paint and smell the fumes on everything. One thing about being pregnant was that she didn't miss a damn thing. Hell, if you had food three rooms over then she was already on it and coming up with cravings.[break][break]
"Well I was expecting a little more than some baseball game. After all, when i girl spends hours to get ready and look pretty. She wants to be taken somewhere nice." She spoke looking at johnny who couldn't seem to make eye contact for a long amount of time. When he did finally meet her gaze she listened to him speak. Of course it all bothered her but she couldn't just fall apart when she had a business to run and her little sister who needed her. "Of course it bothers me but I have a little sister and baby who need me to be in one whole piece..." [break][break]
Lulu spoke before she watched him fall to one knee and pull a box out his pocket. When it opened there was a beautifully crafted ring with the biggest diamond she had seen in her life. The thing caught what seemed like every light in the building to shimmer. The scoreboard in the distance was lit up, urging her to just say yes to him. The beating of her heart raced to millions of beats as she looked down at him. It was what she wanted all this time and honestly she figured it would never happen.[break][break]
Maybe Johnny had grown up in their time apart and she could find some sort of partner she needed in this. Though she also felt the part of her heart that was starting to grow fond of keith. The man who had stepped in and be her rock in learning how to be a mother. The kids as well whom she had grown fond of. Still it wasn't enough to make her stop loving Johnny. "Yes baby, yes i'll marry you. Its all ive ever dreamed of since I first saw you in that booth of the diner."[break][break]
A few tears trickled down her cheek as she wiped them away. The ring made its way on her finger and she moved closer pressing her lips to his. her hands gripping his clothing and pulling him closer. Oh how she had missed him and the spark she felt when they kissed.
Johnny smiled at the tears. They were good tears. Finally some good fucking tears to shed. Things had been so crazy lately, with Bastina in the hospital and the club in pieces. The only thing Johnny Rome ever wanted was a sense of family. It was the reason he was so in love with his club and his loyalties. That strong sense of brotherhood and family that tied them all to the club.
Johnny didn't just accept being pulled into her arms and being kissed. His hands found their way to her hips and he lifted her in the air, pieroetting on his heel and spinning her so much that her dress skirted up and fluttered around the edges on the wind. Donald, the security guard at the park saw that they were celebrating and it was his cue to flip the switch.
Just over the center field wall was an impressive array of fireworks. Donald fired them off with his remoted from the skybox and gorgeous greens and rich blues popped off into the sky. Twinkling diamonds of explosions showered over the night sky. There were always fireworks involved with these two. Weather it was the heat of the moment, wrapped in the embrace of something passionful and beautiful, or Lulu ripping the place apart; things had been just as explosive sense day one.
Then again, Johnny always knew he was the one for her. Even back on that very first day he ever saw her he told himself quietly.... "I'm going to marry that girl some day." For Johnny it had been love at first sight. Not for any reason as shallow as her looks, though her looks could break even the coldest of hearts. Johnny set Lulu back down and pulled her closer.
A finger under her chin guided her face up to meet his. It was a soft tender moment and for the longest time he said nothing. He only gazed into her eyes with a single thought running through his head. His hand found it's way to her stomach and he placed it there lightly. Johnny Rome, who had grown up an orphan in an orphanage had never wanted anything more than a family. Weather it was the fools or Lulu he could leave the fools behind. He could leave everything if it was to start over with Lulu.
