Sure the normal person went to school and they stressed about grades. Everything at this age of new adulthood was about college and traveling the world to find yourself. It was what was expected besides frat parties and waking up in bushes after a wild party wearing a toga. That would've been her reality if she hadn't insisted on joining the fools when she turned 18. William was pissed at her but he would get over it because Nova always got her way. This choice was no different and she was slowly going through quite a few years worth of stuff she had gained in her stay at the school. Since she had been here from her twelth birthday everything seemed to be cluttered around the room.
Hell she even had a whole storage cube on the grounds of stuff she needs to sort through and it didnt help that she was procrastinating. After class she grabbed something to eat from the kitchen and headed out to her storage cube. After going through a few boxes she knew it would be hard than she thoug to get rid of her precious possessions. Everything was a gift from her parents and brothers. Mostly William who she was the closest to in her family but she was only gonna have so much room in the one bedroom apartment. Eventually she got frustrated trying to move something and kicked one of the boxes hearing something break.
Tossing her hands up on the air she showed her frustrations. "Ugh...." Was all she managed before she decided to head out to the ruins to take out her aggravation. It was the one place that she could just let loose and destroy stuff without the cops freaking out. The roar of her mustangs engine came to a stop after the decent length of a drive. Stepping out of the vehicle she pulled of her sunglasses and tossed them in the car seat. Heading towards one of the buildings there were swirls of orange and red energy flowing from her hands. They moved up her arms as they spread into a bubble that encases her. The heat off her body was starting to cause furniture in the old hotel lobby to catch on fire.
The wave of energy encircling her started to expand and the heat that radiated off her was close to a volcanos tempurature. Steadily rising until the bomb finely his the walls and a loud explosion could be heard. The ground shook and the building fell to ruins around her. The ruble smoltered and started to turn to dusty ash at her feet. The breeze picked it up and her energy wave swirld it around her like a living snow globe.

Joseph hadn’t been at the school for very long. He was still trying to get used to everything going on at the school with his change in life. He was thankful to Stephanie and her friends that helped to bring him here. Clara had also been a nice woman in helping him. Although his room was bare minimum with things that weren’t even his. All he had was his phone with his families voicemails begging him to go home. That they’d help keep him safe. Maybe he could call them and tell them he was safe.
But he couldn’t bring himself to do it. Putting his phone in his pocket he left his room to get to the bus stop. He didn’t really know anyone there to tell them where he was headed to, but he needed to get some frustration off his mind and he wanted to try and get some practice in with his powers. He wanted to see a bit of what he could do, even though he still hated his power.
He sat on the bus humming songs to himself as he just watched the world speed by. His head laid against the window as the bus picked up more people and dropped them off at their destinations. Soon it was his turn as the bus stopped a block from the ruins. From there he walked and smiled still humming to himself as he looked for a building to destroy.
However, he didn’t get that chance when an explosion went off. “Holy cow!” He said watching a building nearby fall to rubble. Running over there he crawled over some of the larger pieces of concrete. When he saw who was there though he paused in his movement. He didn’t understand it as his heart started thudding hard against his chest. His eyes couldn’t tear away from the beautiful girl standing among the ashes, having them swirl around her as if she commanded them by just her will. He could see the waves of heat radiating from her person and wondered if she was okay. “Hey!” He yelled as he waved his hands to get her attention.
“Are you okay? I heard the explosion, you’re not hurt are you?” Joseph moved closer and took in the look of her. He didn’t realize he was blushing as he stared at her. His dark eyes looking her over for any kind of injury she could’ve gotten. “Wow… I never expected to see such a pretty lady out here in the ruins.”
It was really nice to just let off some steam every now and then after being aggravated. The ruins of New York was a place where most people didn't. A fence was put up and it was basically swept under the rug as a haunted memory. That's what made it the perfect place to come out and blow up because the cops wouldn't even hassle you. There was a flicker of reddish orange in her eye when she heard a voice. The guy was climbing over rubble and finally waved his hand to get her attention.
"It's amazing I'm okay. I was just walking through the building and suddenly boom." There was a smirk on her lips as she played off this innocent victim skit. She could see the blush on his cheeks and she couldn't help but blush a bit herself when he called her pretty. Normally the guys she would go out and meet wanted one thing and they never used the term pretty. Hot, Fine, Sexy was how every one of them had described her and it was all meaningless hookups.
That was probably for the best because it was the only way Nova kept her powers in check was to keep emotions out of the bedroom. Looking over this guy he wasn't her normal type of one night stands. His skin was sorta pale and he had this cute baby face that made her wanna pinch it. "So do you always go walking through the ruins alone?" Carefully she moved across the rubble as the heat around her body had dropped and cooled. Getting a closer look she knew he had looked familiar.
Those ladies brought him to the school not long ago but she hadn't really talked to him. The kid was quiet and didn't really fit in with her social group. "I'm Nova. Whats your name cutie?" Stepping off a chunk of concrete she moved onto the sidewalk and turned to face hime.

“You must have some really good luck then.” He didn’t realize she was just being a little sarcastic, playing up a little role. He genuinely thought she could’ve been hurt. He was glad to be proven wrong though. Scratching the back of his head he smiled and looked around the ruins. He didn't find it weird she was here alone. It didn’t even cross his mind that she could be there out of frustrations different than his own.
“No, I’m kinda new to these parts.” His southern tilt evident in his speech as she got closer. “I’m from Virginia, originally.” He said nervously. Joseph looked over her face, but he wasn’t the best with memory. He could’ve seen her with friends back at the school, but he was still so stressed out about the new surroundings he hadn’t really opened up to anyone. He slouched his shoulders some as he looked back to the rubble.
He picked up a piece as she ended up in front of him and his hand turned black. Purple veins sprouted from the contact and it turned to ash from where the veins started before bursting to a pile of ash. “I’m Joseph… It’s a pleasure to meet you Nova.” He smiled and looked back up at her. His dark eyes dancing with excitement. “But what about you? Why are you out here in the ruins?” He asked curiously.
Just by watching his facial cues, Nova knew this guy was different. Not to mention his actual relief that she wasn't actually hurt. Obviously he was oblivious to the idea of sarcasm which just made this all the better. "Hmm, Virginia? Isn't that the place that has crazy hillbilly cannibals that eat people?" There was a grin on her lips as she came out of the rubble to stand in front of him. He was kinda cute in a innocent lost puppy sorta way. "Nice to meet ya Joseph." She spoke as she watched him picked up a piece of rubble and make it disintegrate. "Thats a pretty wicked power."
Grabbing his hand and walking towards her car as her mind was already working out plans to make him one of her friends. Little did she know that he was gonna be the reason behind her newest heartache. "Well my family is from Texas but i was born in Detroit so no southern twang in my accent. I've been at the school just like my brothers since our powers developed. My parents wanted the best educations for all their talented children." sliding into the drivers seat she looked over at joseph. "Buckle up sweety, We need to stop at my place and then ima take you to grab a bite."
Switching gears the car sped off and they were in front of her building in no time. Tossing her keys to the valet she drug Joseph upstairs and several floors later she was pulling him into her apartment. Quickly she flipped on lights and headed to the living room. Glancing at Joseph she smiled. "Make yourself at home. I just need to change real quick." Nova spoke as she turned and headed down the hall. In the process she peeled her shirt off and tossed it over her shoulder. Hitting Joseph in the face with the scent of vanilla and peaches. In her bedroom the door was more than halfway open as she started to pull of clothing and change. Not even shy in the slightest.

Joseph hasn’t really been very privy to sarcasm or joking. Normally his sister had been the one to help him figuring that out. But he’d heard the redneck line so many times he knew by now people were joking about it. Though getting a compliment about his powers was something opposite of what he was used to. “If I keep a cool head at least.” He muttered under his breath.
Having someone grab his hand hadn’t happened in such a long time. It almost felt foreign for him. Looking at their hands, he felt his heart skip a beat as a blush took over his cheeks. Getting to the black and pink convertible Joseph got into the passenger seat. Pulling the buckle it clicked and his hands went up as she sped through the streets. He hadn’t had this much fun with someone is such a long time.
Pulling up to the large apartment complex New York had so many surprises. Joseph felt a little intimidated at the size of this building. He’d never been more than three stories off the ground. Getting back out his hand was enveloped again in hers and up the building they went. Getting into her apartment lights turned on as she walked through and Joseph looked around.
Joseph looked to Nova as she spoke and smiled. “Okay, take your tim-” His sentence fell short as he saw her pulling her shirt up and soon the soft fabric fell in his face. It caught in a way the it draped from his hair covering most of his face except for one brown eye. For a moment it was silent as he tried to think of what had just happened. He remembered the sex ed classes at school and the videos. But actually having the opportunity starting to present itself to him was not what he expected out of anyone. He felt his face heating up as he stood there in stunned silence, his virgin shyness taking over forming a lump in his throat as he tentatively took the tanktop off his head.
