Today was going to be the big day. The caterer had been picked out and much against Alyssa's request Gavin had succeeded in getting the catering to be done by Phill's hoagie shop. It was stupid, but in his travels across America with his malevolent circus, Gavin had never had a better sandwich anywhere in all of America. It was the whole reason they were having the wedding in Utah. For that one little sandwich shop.
It was freedom really. Neither one of them had any family to invite to such an event and the circus went wherever Gavin chose. The circus was all the family either of them had ever needed and over time even Alyssa had come to see the mutants at the circus as family regarded with love and affection which they returned to the queen of the circus. Gavin stood by himself in a little dressing room. It was an outdoor wedding.
He had on a black suit with a black tie. His hands were shaking nervously as one of the mutants from the circus; a fellow who went by the name Ragnrok; helped straighten Gavin's bow tie. "This is it Raggy. I'm taking the plunge. I'm marrying my soul mate. Right here and now." Ragnrok watched Gavin carefully with a loving smile on his face.
He looked at Gavin like a father and since Alyssa joined the circus and even had an act in the show herself....He had began to look at Alyssa like a mother. Ragnrok was a terribly ugly guy. He was quite monsterous really though that was because of his mutation and Gavin and Alyssa never judged him for it. The circus never treated him differently. They were family... And Happy. "I'm happy for you two." Ragnrok said with a deep bellowing voice. Gavin smiled. "Let's go get me married."
Alyssa looked into the mirror with a happy grin, her mind was swimming in the honesty of their reality and it was almost overwhelming. Today was her wedding, she had about three of those in all the years she lived because she knew whoever she chose to bond to would die before she did and as strong as she’d grown over the centuries, Alyssa was fiercely scared of losing people she loved. Her fingers reached up to the golden hair falling over her shoulders in light curls. Her mother’s hair, remembrance of the woman she loved dearly who was unable too visit her daughter’s third wedding and honestly most memorable day since existence. There was a young mutant waiting outside, she belonged the circus but Alyssa requested to finish on her own time, by herself.
She donned nearly no shades of make up on her porcelain skin, her only mark was the red tint to her soft lips. She couldn’t stop staring at her natural long lashes and hazel eyes wondering if this was truly the right decision to make. Alyssa didn’t care much for theatrics, not when she was doing an act of raw love in the brunt reality of a world engulfed in chaos. The dress hung over her shoulders in soft layers of lace, the same intricate patterns of lace running over her chest and dipping over her hips. Alyssa felt free in the soft flow of white slipping over the curves of her hips and dipping to the floor in a soft caress, her right leg dipped in and out of sight through a long, narrow slit to tease at the imagination.
She slipped a white ranunculus flower behind her ear in remembrance of her godly persona she birthed in to after her first death, Alyssa stepped outside and smiled at the young mutant. She had dark hair with defiant blue stripes dripping from the tips of her curly hair, Alyssa turned around with a kind request to fasten the ornate necklace Gavin offered her back in Greece and she did. soft hands clasped the beautiful necklace onto her slender neck and she turned to glance at the hive of activities, the one place she’d come to find true purpose in her most recent life.
“Go on, I’ll follow”, she didn’t have much worries for tradition, she didn’t don the almost iconic bouquet of flowers and instead relaxed into the bright flower nestled behind her ear, she didn’t war expensive shoes and instead braved the walk to destiny with bare feet and painted nails. Alyssa didn’t dip into the façade of beauty that most women preferred, she shone in her natural given perfection that hid the scars along her spine and the small healed wounds marking her travels through history.
Alyssa waited until she heard the soft melody before she slowly drifted into view, “It’s about fucking time”, she muttered the words softly finding Gavin’s face near the front of their unique family of sorts. It took her a split second to relax into a genuinely happy grin, something honest, raw and beautiful. Alyssa appreciated the soft perfection of an outdoor wedding, she was after all considered the goddess of nature and the hunt.
Alyssa slowly fell into a happy step as she closed the distance between her and Gavin. Alyssa smiled at the close knit family she gained since she found Gavin again, it was beautiful for her to share the flawless moment with the man she loved and the family she gained. “Miss me?”, she asked the words softly with a playful wink to the man who looked absolutely perfect donning the soft fabric of a suit.
