It was late. Past twelve O'clock in the morning. Adam sat as his desk rubbing his face and staring at a computer monitor. Blinking back at him was the obnoxiously bright screen showing a list of mutants. Adam sighed. He was tired. He wanted to go to bed, but the head office in Washington wanted this list gone over with a fine tooth comb. It was list of dangerous mutants with some truly horrible abilities. Some of the stuff on this list he couldn't even believe. There was a kid from De Moines who could create black holes with his hands. Another guy from Tallahassee could grab the fabric of reality and rip it in half. Literally too fabulous to wrap your mind around. A guy.... Who could grab a piece of what you see in front of your face, the horizon, the sky what have you and tear it in little pieces. How do you combat something like that? Reality shifting mutants who threatened the very freedom and life of safety that he intended for his son?
That one line of text fucking infuriated him. He was busting his ass trying to make this world safer for his son and there were liberty freedom fighters out there trying to fuck it all up. The transport carrying Wreckshop and a few other mutants had been hit. Four mutants were set free. McKenzie Montgomery was the daughter of a Presidential Canidate and you bet your ass Washington was all over that. Their puppet sitting in the seat of the election had a nasty little secret, and guess what. It just got out. This was far beyond his pay grade. And honestly what did he care? So what if some little bitch got a taste of freedom. She wasn't one of the ones Adam was worried about. As far as he was concerned bouncy girl could stay missing. Though Washington was all over his ass for him and his team to find and retrieve the girl. He had never seen her mutation in action, but she bounced like rubber. How bad could that be?
Adam stared at the screen with a lack of emotion. He leaned back in his chair and ran his tired fingers over his tired face. His wedding ring was polished and bright. He took very good care of it. 'How long as it been?' He wondered. Wondering quietly about how long his Madison had left them. Logan, his son never knew the whole story. Adam's wife was killed by a mutant trying to escape the clutches of G.A.D.E.M. Adam never intended to bring his work home with him. He was keeping America safe.
That's what mattered! He was shaping and changing the world in a safer image. For his family. One night one of the mutants on one of these fucking lists.... Much like the one he was staring at; tracked Adam to his house. Desperate, scared and not thinking straight he threatened Adam. Demanded he called off his G.A.D.E.M. dogs. Adam was trying to agree with him. He wanted him out of his house. The scared mutant had broke in in the middle of the night and started when Madison came in the room to see what was happening...... A knife lying on the counter of the kitchen shot into the room like a bullet and into the side of her temple. The mutant telepath let out a cry of startled surprise. He hadn't meant too. He was just scared.
Adam rushed to the side of his wife and craddled her body, but he knew she was gone. "Baby! Baby, no no no please god no. Ba.... FUCK CHRIST BABY NOOOO" Those haunting words echoed in his mind as he sat there staring at yet another list. He would check this list and another list would come in next week, and the week after that. It never ended. Adam didn't hate mutants, but he was afraid of them. People were always afraid of what they didn't understand. He looked down at his wedding ring and sighed again. Adjusting it on his finger he stared at it thoughtfully and turned off the computer monitor.
He was going to put together a search team tomorrow to look for Wreckshop. Washington gave that priority status over all other assignments. He was still somewhat lost in thought when he heard a creak. His hand reached for his gun, but he relaxed as he saw the family shadowy shape of his son's form standing in the doorway. His face was cast lightly in shadow as he stood just out of the reach of the light. "Hey sport. What are you doing up?" He said with a tired smile. "Couldn't sleep? Come in here. I want to show you something." Adam said reaching into the desk drawer fartherst from the door.
He came back out with a small notebook. He held it out to Logan. It was smallish with a red leather binding. There was a little red velvet rope that kept it closed. "Your mother's diary. She had hoped to give you this one day." He said extending his arm and placing it in his son's hands. He knew how much he liked to read. He honestly wished he could do better as a father. He was trying his best, but he felt like a part of him could be closer. "She kept a diary of her favorite moments with you. Like this one here see."
Juliy 2011,
Adam's at work. Again. I swear that man would work until they punched him out and forced him to go. He's a good man. He tries at least. Logan took his first steps today. Oh, Adam i wish you could have been there. Now when i say steps... I'm not just doting like a mother should. These were confident manly steps. i think he's going to be a big hit with the ladies. TIME WILL TELL. If he's anything like his father, the asnswer is no. I wanted to make a note of the day. July 11, 2011. My son took his first steps!!!!!! He's a Lithe alright. Boldly going out into the world to take what he wants. I think one day my son will read these passages. He will look back and see that even from the beginning he made mommy proud. I LOVE MY BOYS SO MUCH XOXOXO.
Adam knew what was in those pages. He had read every entry a thousand times. 'Madison. I miss you.' He thought while he smiled at his son. He wrapped an arm around Logan and pulled him in close for a hug. He kissed him on the top of the head. "This world is scary son. I just want to make sure you're turning into the man your mother wanted you to be." Adam was trying not to show it, he didn't like his son seeing him in moments of weakness; but he was tearing up a little. Adam was so intent on being his son's superman. The guy he looked up too. He liked being made of steel in his son's eyes. He liked being a role model and he was hoping he was teaching him right. He was just a single dad trying to make the world a place his son could thrive.

"Together, we’re gonna rise with the morning light."
It was just another late night for Logan as he stared at the family picture on the desk in his room. A picture of his mom hugging him on the front steps of their home, his dad coming up behind them with a smile on his face. He didn’t remember this moment exactly, but he remembered the love and adoration. He missed his mom a lot. Logan’s finger tip lightly traced over the glass that protected the picture as tears pricked his eyes. He didn’t understand why she had to be taken from him and his dad. Had the world seen them as bad? He knew some kids didn’t like him because of were his dad worked.
He hadn’t told his dad though. He didn’t want him to worry over nothing. Logan knew how to defend himself, and if he got a little bruised it was okay. It’s where he got his nice little shiner on his chin today. Kids could be cruel, to adults and other kids. No filters, always truthful, if not rude. That was all he really worried about though, besides helping his dad out with chores. He never complained about it because he was understanding his dad has a job that takes up most of his time. He never felt resentment towards him, but maybe a little bit towards his dad’s boss. He wished he had more time to spend with him.
Looking at the clock he noticed how late it really was. Giving a sigh he knew he should get to sleep if he wanted to keep from being a crab bucket for school. He wouldn’t be any good in class if he wasn’t well rested. Getting up from his chair he decided to head out his door to the kitchen to get a drink. Passing by his dad’s office door he noticed the dim fluorescent light of his computer. He was still hard at work. But sometimes Logan just wanted him to himself. Okay, so maybe he did feel a little resentment towards his dad, and he didn’t want to be understanding, but his dad was his only family left. He couldn’t bring himself to really hate him. Just the job, and the people in charge.
‘I should remind him to go to sleep.’ He thought and slowly opened the door with a creak. Peeking in he tried to keep part of his face shadowed to keep the dark bruise from showing up. A smile turned his lips up as his dad noticed. When his dad guessed he just simply nodded. Logan always had trouble getting to sleep since his mom’s death. She had read to him every night since she had conceived him and he missed her voice. It was always a comfort to him, now he couldn’t hear it ever again.
“Yeah?” His curiosity peaked as he walked into the office. He hadn’t noticed his dad had turned off the monitor before he had stepped in but he was happy to have his attention. Leaning on the arm of his dad’s chair he watched as he pulled out a journal. The red cord matching with the red binding of it. Logan’s eye went from the journal to his dad as he spoke. “Mom’s… diary?” His blue eyes drifted back to the book as he took it into his hands. He felt the slightly worn leather, the breaking of the spine as it had been read more often than most would probably assume.
He let his dad open it up to a page and he read the passage there. His eyes pricked with tears as he read it word for word. Being pulled into a hug Logan wrapped his small arms around his dad tight. A single tear trickled down his cheek as he felt his heart clench at feeling the lose again. Logan knows everyday how much his dad loves him and wants to protect him. But he wanted his dad to know he was there for him too. Blue eyes peered up into his dad’s seeing the tears. “It’s okay dad…” He said softly, “If you need to cry you can.” Logan held to his dad tighter, wanting him to know he was there for him as much as Adam is there for him. Sure Logan liked seeing his dad being all intimidating and solid as a brick house, but he knew how much it devastated him over these four years being without Maddison, his mom.
Adam sat there and watched his son with a smile. He watched him read the diary. He could see his son moving his mouth to the words in the pages. The words that he had nearly memories. He spent so much time living in the past. He honestly did. Adam was the type of man who couldn't let things go. He brutalized himself for his failures and he had no bigger failure than allowing that to happen to Madison.
If it wasn't for Logan.... He shuttered at the thought of what he might have done. He hugged his son and scoffed when he asked him if he needed to cry. Though watching him read those memories did pull a few heart strings. "Me cry? Please. Did I ever tell you about the time a mutant terrorist with fire breathe tried to kill your old man? You think I cried then???" Adam said building up his toughness. He knew that his son was probably groaning internally and rolling his eyes. Adam liked to think of himself as the cool dad, though his stories were boring.
He had told them a thousand times over. "What are you doing up anyways? Don't you have school tomorrow?" He asked forgetting that it was Friday. Adam had been running himself into the ground. All this work with G.A.D.E.M. All this time away from his son. He was starting to question weather or not all of this was worth it. Still, it was money. Money they needed. They didn't live bad at all.
They lived in a nice 3 bedroom home with plenty of space for them to... Well, they had space. It wasn't important. What mattered was that his son was happy. "Did i ever tell you i had a belt made out of watches?" He smirked. "Nah, never mind it'd be a waist of time." He laughed a bit. And shivered. Rubbing his arms up and down his bisceps he paused. "It's cold in here kiddo. Here push your dad over into that corner...."
He waited for the quizzical look to wash over Logan's face. "I heard that corners were about 90 degrees." He leaned back and erupted with a loud belly laugh. The kind of laugh that was only reserved for the funniest of funnies. He obviously overestimated. It was all fun and games until he heard the creak inside the house. Adam froze. His eyes suddenly very serious. "Logan I want you to hide."
His voice was stern and harsh, unlike anything Logan had usuall ever seen. "Don't argue with me I said hide!" There was almost a venomous bite to his voice as he pushed his son aside and reached for a rifle hidden behind the desk. He snapped the scope down. Holographic sight. It cut through the dark with a red laser only he could see. Adam closed the door behind him leaving his son in his office, safe from the dangerous of the outside world. It wouldn't be the first time a G.A.D.E.M agent had been tracked to his home. He wasn't loosing the last bit of family he still had left in this world.
"Together, we’re gonna rise with the morning light."
Logan rolled his eyes at his dad’s jokes, but he also could stop the laughter either. He knew they were bad jokes, corny in the least. But with his dad’s laughter he just couldn’t help it. It was moments like these that Logan loved. But the moment was broken as his dad’s laughter stopped abruptly. He looked concerned until his dad told him to hide. “But-” Being cut off by his dad talking so harshly he frowned. Logan wanted to help, but what could a little eight year old really do but get in the way?
Looking around Logan took up to crouching down under his dad’s desk the wood up front would keep him hidden, some nice cover if whoever came in would possibly get passed his dad. ‘No… no one can get passed him. My dad’s too strong. He’ll win… he’ll-’ His thoughts were interrupted as he heard a yell of pain. Panic rose in Logan’s heart as he recognized the voice. He heard loud thudding, arguing, but the words where so muffled he could really make them out. He covered his ears until he heard the smoke alarm going off and then stop mid-blare as a gunshot sounded off, then another.
Tears spilled down his face as he covered his ears and fought against the urge to run out. But it didn’t hold as he bolted out from under the desk and slowly opened the door. Taking a deep breath he mustered up all the courage he could and walked down the hall, missing the creaking parts of the boards to keep quiet. He heard something that sounded like an explosion as his dad went fly past the archway of the hall into the wall opposite. He froze as he saw the man walking past.
Taking a moment he noticed the smoke rising from the man’s hand as he grabbed his dad by the shirt. Adam had given a good fight. Made the guy bleed some, but he was just adrenaline and rage. The man raised his fist, making it glow red a few cracks coming off it like firecrackers. This man was part of another group of mutants that GADEM had been hunting. He was pissed about them grabbing his little sister who did absolutely nothing. But before the man could punch him with an explosion again, Logan did the unthinkable and ran out, tackling into him. Although the man hadn’t fallen, he had let go of Adam and he slumped to the ground.
“LEAVE MY DAD ALONE!” He yelled out before getting smacked in the head. He didn’t let go and didn’t stop trying to push him away. “Let go damn it!” The man punched him in the head without his power, but Logan held even tighter and pushed harder. “NO!” He cried and tried looking for something that could help. Deep down he could feel a warmth inside of him as the lights in the street lamps flickered. He screamed out as the man punched him again heat exploding in his face. Logan cried as he held his face, but he glared up at the man as he stood in front of his dad protectively. His arms outstretched, as he wished he could do more, that he could fight against this guy.
Flashes of his mother’s face sped through his mind as the man raised both his fists. He wouldn’t let this man take his father. He was all he had left and if he was gone he had nothing. “YOU WON’T TAKE HIM FROM ME!” Logan screamed out putting both his hands together as they lit from within. Two spheres of light danced from his palms as he threw them with great force. “What the-” The man was caught so off guard he didn’t know what to do. Bringing both hands together they clasped and expanded as a larger ball of light was produced and his eyes glowed a brilliant yellow. He pushed it forward and all three hit the man slamming him back into the wall.
He coughed some as Logan stood there ready for more as a womanly figure was conjured to his side. At first she was nothing more than a figure of yellow light until features were added in and she came to life with color. If anything she looked like an angel as she had a yellow aura surrounding her figure. She stepped forward and placed a hand on Logan’s shoulder. “Alright darling. It’s time to calm down.” She said and smiled. But it disappeared as she poofed and appeared next to the intruder. “You young man owe my family an apology.” She said and grabbed him by the ear as any mother would a stubborn child. Logan couldn’t stop from crying, seeing his mother walking back over to him. “Mom?”
“Say you’re sorry, and never come back.” She said to the man and forced him to his knees. The man looked down at the ground, panicked at the turn of events happening. “I… I’m sorry, for intruding, and…”
“And?”
“And for hurting you both.” Quickly the man got up and ran out the back door that he had kicked down. He wouldn’t make it out there. He was losing blood quicker as he ran for his life. But that wasn’t Logan or Adam’s concern now. Logan looked at the woman as she came closer. Although she looked like his mother, she didn’t act like her very well because she was more a manifestation of his frustrations and fear. Her hand went to his cheek as she pulled him close. “Let’s help your dad to the bedroom.” She said softly but she dispersed as Logan’s fears had started to bubble up. He was the one that threw light… he was the one that made his mother… he used… powers. He was a mutant… someone that his dad hunted for a living. Slowly he turned and looked at his dad, terror was visible in his eyes and guilt was easy to see on his face. He felt like an utter disappointment. “Dad…”
Adam hadn't expected this. The worst of his nightmares came crashing into reality. He was forced to stand at the edge of his own fears and witness the thing that sent his heart plummeting. It was a mutant. A god damned filthy mutants. Adam was no bigot. He had no deep seated hatred for the likes of mutant kind. A mutant had stolen someone very precious too him. Now his son was in danger and anyone putting his son at risk reserved the right to be called the foulest names in the book. Adam stood in the kitchen in the dark.
His breath quiet and his finger sliding down the stock of his pistol. He hoped he didn't have occasion to use it. He hoped that it was just the neighbors dog again. She got out on occasion and rooted through the garbage around the side of the house. He cocked his head to the side and listened intently. The sound of nothing called back to his eager ear. That's what worried him the most. There was a rising bile twisting in the pit of his stomach as he took another step further into the dark abyss of the quiet house.
This quiet madness touched all around him, panic sped up his heart. Fear stole his breathe and paranoia pushed him forward into the unknowing reaches of the living room. Logan was a good boy. He hadn't followed him out. Adam was afraid he might. As much as he loved the kid, he had his mother's stubbornness sometimes. Suddenly he heard a creak. His head whipped around to the left to see a flaming fist coming at him. It crackled and popped and exploded on impact iwth his cheek. It left a horrible scorched burn on his face as the force from the blast threw him against the living room wall. Adam crashed into the wall shattering a picture frame.
Their trip to the zoo remained just a shattered memory lying among broken bits of glass in the carpet. Adam's body hit the wall and crashed into the couch. The soft landing didn't help when he rolled off it with velocity and slammed through the coffee table. More glass shattered. He landed on it with bits of glass digging into his wrist and hands. A warm trickle of blood reminded him he was very much human in a fight for his life. Was this the end? Adam had to swim back to conscious thought. His body wanted to give up and let it be over though his mind was on Logan. With his dying breathe he would protect his son.
Adam pushed himself up to one knee. The mutant known as 'Punchline'; and seriously what a stupid fucking code name, stood there breathing heavy. "YOU THINK YOU CAN TAKE FROM ME?!?!?" He growled. Adam had no idea what he was talking about. Yes, his men did take the guy's sister but orders were orders. If G.A.D.E.M. picked her up it was because she was a threat to national security. G.A.D.E.M. did the same thing any other branch of the government did. It protected the boarders of the United States from threats both foriegn and domestic. Nothing more, nothing less. Adam truly believed that his patriotic duty was the help fight this battle with what some in the media had been cutely referring to as bio-organic terrorists.
And the truth was there were some bad mutants out there, but no more than the bad humans roaming around. It wasn't for him to decide. He had a job to do. Adam spit on the floor as he pushed himself up with an assist from teh couch. Bits of broken glass hung from his flesh, wedged deep caushing dozens of drips of blood running down his forearms. Staining the biege carpet. Adam hadn't personally picked up this guy's sister. He had never met the man or seen a photo of him in one of his mission folders. He was stunned.
"You have....Two seconds. To get the fuck out of here. 1,2" Adam said. Counting a little faster that one would expect. He raised his pistol and fired three rounds. They missed. The man turned into a vapor mist and the bullets past right through him. And Alpha? Oh this is not good. As the man momentarily turned to smoke he set off the smoke detector. Moving towards Adam at a brisk pace another punch sent Adam exploding all teh way to the end of the hallway. He crashed through the drywall leaving an Adam sized dent.
Darkness came for him. The land of willful thought slipped through his fingers. Everything blurred and his eyes became heavier. No! No! DAMIT! He opened his eyes in time to see his son standing firmly in front of him. His tiny arms extended and he was proclaiming that the mutant shall not pass. Like a tiny Gandolph the grey in the mines or moria. "Lo....gan." His voice was weak and cracking. The second punch hit him in the throat. His vocal cords up and quit on him. The taste of blood lined his throat.
A thick coating of coppery tasting self disappointment. "Run....." He croaked weakly. His fingers stretched out towards Logan in a desperate effort. Not again. He can't watch this happen again. Adam tried to push himself to his feet but his muscles were spasming. His head weighed 90,000 pounds. He couldn't move. He didn't realize the heavy bookshelf was pinningh is ankle down. Fallen over in the crash. Adam's eyes closed again. He swore only for a second. When they opened again there was a bright light. Was this heaven? No it can't be. He saw the dusty familiar tidings of his own home. Though now there stood the ghostly visage of his former wife. She glowed like an angel. Adam was convinced she was their guardian angel sent back to protect them. He watched with great wonder and his eyes only transfixed on her for a second. Selfishly he stared at her. "Madison..." He cried out weakly.
Adam's head turned and he saw his son manipulating balls of light. Just like his uncle. Adam gasped. On no. This can't be happening. Adam gasped and struggled and pulled at his ankle until it was free. Adam scurried back. Away from his son. His back pressed against the firmness of the unforgiving wall behind him. He was ashamed later that, that was his first reaction. Later he would wish he could take it back but for now he was horrified. The thing that he was hunting was right in his own house this whole time.
Adam's heart was breaking. He felt like a monster. He felt like his whole set of worldy ideals came crashing down around his feet. He stood in the wake of his own morality picked up the broken pieces of his fractured integrity. His hand slipped over his mouth as he clinched his fist and bit down on the knuckle. "Dad?" Adam held out a hand. His gun was somewhere in the living room. He didn't have to wield it against his son to inflict damage. "Stay back! Just sta.s.s.s...tay there okay.... Daddy needs to think."
His eyes were streaming tears now. His face was red. His skin hot ans sweaty. The mutant that started all this was long gone. He left them alone with their new realizations. Adam's eyes needed time to adjust that's all. It was a trick of the light. He didn't see what he thought he saw. He banged his head against the wall a few times. But he had! He saw Madison. He wanted to convince himself that was just his mind pulling back from the grasp of an unconscious dream but even he didn't believe that. After a few moments of silent thinking. He held his arms out. "Come here Logan." He said finally. He wanted a hug. No.
He needed one. In the wake of all this chaos he needed to know that the one person he still had in the world was really here. He didn't know what to belive anymore. Logan didn't need a gun to inflict damge either apparently. He hesitated. He knew what his dad did for a living an now he didn't trust him. Adam's heart broke but he reached over and pulled his son by the back of the neck with a firm but loving embrace. He wrapped his arms around his back and the back of his neck. His hand swimming up and cradling the back of Logan's head as he sobbed into Logan's pajama top. "I love you Logan. Don't ever think that's not true. I don't care if you're a mutant! I LOVE YOU SON!" He said as he continued to sob.
"Together, we’re gonna rise with the morning light."
Hearing his dad yell at him to stay back as he stood there cut Logan deeper than any other wound could. He knew it, he was a monster. He was a disappointment already and tears spilled down his cheeks as he cried. He didn’t want to lose his dad’s love. He was the only person he had left in life and now it was shattering right before him. He tried taking a step forward but he stopped himself. He wanted a hug but would his dad feel disgusted? Would he push him away?
He heard Adam call for him, but he hesitated. He didn’t know if this was real, or if he would be taken to that facility. He wouldn’t fight, but he didn’t want to be separated from his dad. He was still terrified from fighting and this new development of powers. When his dad pulled him in Logan held on tight. His head buried itself in his shoulder as he cried.
Hearing his dad say he still loved him made Logan’s heart both soar with relief and hurt at the same time. He said he didn’t care if he was a mutant then why had he freaked out so badly? He wanted to believe his dad with all his heart, but the doubt was there. It would eat him up as he grew, but Logan would put on a brave face and hide it away. He didn’t want to hurt his dad in any way, but it was a vicious cycle.
Doubt could eat at the most confident person even if they denied it. Everyone had doubts and insecurities. Logan’s biggest fear though had surfaced and he didn’t know how to rectify it. “I’m sorry dad…” He whispered. He was apologizing for being different, for not coming to him when he called out. He cried and his tears started to soak his dad’s battered shirt. So many what ifs and how woulds kept popping up into his mind.
“I’m so sorry dad…” He couldn’t stop apologizing. His fingers gripped the fabric of his dad’s shirt tightly. His breath hitched as he tried to catch his breath in between sobs. His whole body shook with the force of them as the bright light reappeared. “Adam,” The melodic tone of his mother’s voice rang out. Her smile was gentle as she kneeled down and placed a hand on his cheek. It wasn’t warm but cold as this was nothing but pure light and it had no temperature really. Though if Logan really thought about it he could make her feel like how he remembered. But this was more subconscious than anything.
Adam hugged his son like he had never hugged him before. He hugged Logan as if he was afraid that at any moment someone was going to rip him from his arms violently. That wasn't going to happen. Not ever. Not while he had anything to say about it. G.A.D.E.M. be dammed he had no intention of turning his son over to a company he knew would experiment on him. A touch of guilt surged through him for what he had done to his brother, but that was different.
This was Logan! Adam knew that Logan didn't really know what happened to Uncle Kyle...At least he thought he didn't . Adam had never told him. He didn't have the heart to tell him how merciless his father could be. No, Adam prefered that his son look at him as one of the good guys. He cried into his sons shirt and he didn't care that his own shirt was now filled with tears and snot. It wasn't the point. Adam couldn't love his son anymore even if he wasn't a mutant. His entire life view changed in a revlationary blink of an eye. But that was what being a parent was all about. Protecting your children no matter the cost.
No matter the sarcifice. He had to call in to his superiors.... If he didn't they would worry. Even though he was technically off the clock... HIs position was never fully off the clock. They would send someone to check if he didnt. Adam pulled his phone out and sent a mesage saying the reports were sent and he would check in tomorrow. He also saw a text from a new agent in his command. Felix Russell. He sent a text to him as well letting him know to meet him in the park tomorrow morning. It wasn't great timing but things had to appear business as usual. Adam dropped his phone completely when he heard the soft voice of his wife Madsion.
He snapped his head in her direction and saw her briefly. She was a bit of burning, fading light dying away as Logan's sobs grew softer. Adam didn't know what to make of it. What kind of abilities did his son have? Is this the same thing his brother could do? He wasn't sure he had never seen anything like this from his brother. His brother could only bend and bounce balls of light. They didn't even hurt when they touched you. It was like the efemeral touch of a ghost passing through you....
Adam had his scientist studying night and day for a cure for Kyle. HE believed him sick. He wanted his brother back, but not at the cost of accepting him as a mutant. Now..... He could never subject Logan to that. He refused! Adam cried as the soft mirage of his wife disappated. He looked Logan in the face. "I need you to get to bed kiddo. Dad has to make a few phone calls okay? I love you." It was all rather mysterious. But he didn't want his son to hear the things he was about to say and besides it was late. It brokes his heart that things had gotten to this point, but it had and now he knew that he had to try and set things in motion that would guarentee his son's freedom. It was his only choice.
