New York, The City that Never Sleeps. That's what they call her. Sometimes, Brian wished she would sleep. Would make things easier. He stood there, peering out a window of an old Abandoned house. They had been here for a few weeks now. Luckily the Government had closed this section off after the Alien invasion years ago. The Avengers had swooped in and saved the day, but much of the city had been torn down. The Government came in after and looted the alien tech and left the city as it was. Some parts had been rebuilt, but not all of it, not this section.
He had been pulled from his thoughts by the window by the sound of laughter. It was pure laughter, not yet spoiled by the harshness that was being an adult. He turned to see the two children playing a game of tag. Running around the house and giggling. This kids hadn't done anything to hurt anyone, yet because of how they looked, they were deemed dangerous. Their powers weren't even all that dangerous. Billy, the boy with a blue and green skin tone was able to extent his tongue nearly four feet in length. And Sarah-Lee could breath under water, but because of her purple skin and darker purple spots, added by her pure white eyes, she too was considered too dangerous to be around 'normal' people. He watched them running around the lower level of the house from the balcony, leaning on the hand rail as he did. It wasn't fair. They deserved better. Hadn't the X-Men said that was what they were fighting for? Why had it never happened? And now they were gone. The X-Men, The Brotherhood, The Avengers, Fantastic four.... Everyone who was anyone fighting to make the world a better place was gone.... There was no one left. No group or organization trying to make things right again. Just C.A.D.E.M. Mutant hunters. And if they got you....
He shook his head, not wanting to think about what would happen if any of them were caught. For now, he was happy letting the kids be kids. But he would need to go out and get food for them all. After all, he was the only one who could walk among the normals and blend in. "Hey, Billy, Sarah-Lee... I'm going to go get us some food. You both be good. And remember what we talked about..." They two stopped running and looked up to Brian. "No going outside, no answering the door, and hide if anyone comes." They said.... He forced a smile and gave a nod. "That's right. Now go one, go play and have fun." No sooner had he said it than the kids were off again, continuing their game of tag. He chuckled and moved to head out, grabbing his leather jacket as he did. He didn't have a lot of money right now, and that meant he'd have to get more, but a life on the run didn't leave much time for a normal job... He hated that this is what his life had become, but after events in Arizona.... Well, he did what he had to do to keep the kids safe.

For the most part her life was busy except after she was done with her teacher duties and found herself bored. Olivia didn't stay in the mansion because it wasn't exactly proper teacher behavior to be rolling up a doobie in the house. So she had a tiny home that was near the back end of the property with plenty of privacy. this evening though she found herself out in a abandoned piece of property in the ruins from the alien attack years ago. This is were she kept her plants and she grew what would become her stash for the winter. Olivia wasn't some hardened drug dealer and as a matter of fact she only had two customers. Draven and that guy vince she had met when she destroyed his car in the middle of no where.[break][break]
The thing of it was, Olivia didn't take money in exchange for the green she gave Draven and Vince. They had offered but she really just enjoyed having someone to smoke with time to time. Olivia was more in tune with the earth then the other people on it so friends weren't something she had a lot of. After she made sure the plants had plenty of water in the irrigation system she moved out of the old abandoned place. Skipping through a hole in the chain link fencing her eyes were looking down at her phone when she ran into a guy. Really she had never seen anyone out here so she stepped back a bit and gave a embarrassed smile. "Um...Sorry about that." Shoving her phone in her pocket she felt the can of mace.[break][break]
She had this amazing power to manipulate the very ground people walked on. To levitate stones and build her own armor but here she was grabbing for pepper spray. Never knew with people in new York and some random guy out in the middle of no where. "Are you lost? Traveler from outta town maybe? If your looking for some missed souvenir from that fight, You came years to late. The government picked this place clean." Her voice was soft and she offered a shy smile as she looked over the man. He was super tan and just didn't strike her as a stone cold new yorker because most of these people spent more time indoors. All of them pale as vampires unless they were a different ethnicity. He should have been looking to where he was going, not where he was coming from, but then people often do things they shouldn't do... This world has never been nice to people who are different, you only need to look back in time to see that. Slavery, oppression, forced migration, mass murders, attempted genocide... And now? Mutant round ups... He should have been looking ahead, not back... He ran into a woman, it seemed she wasn't paying attention either, or had she been following him the whole time? Was she one of the ones hunting the kids he was with? Or had this been merely a coincident? "Yeah..." His hand moved to rub at the back of his neck. "Sorry, I wasn't paying attention to where I was going.... My bad."
"Yeah, that's it... I was coming here to see the ruins. I know the government took all the alien tech and all, but I still wanted to see the remains." That was believable, right? Yeah. Likely lots of people had come here to see the ruins. Like the twin towers... She asked if he was new to New York. "Yeah, just got here last night..." He nodded with his head towards the rubble. "This was the first place on my list of sights." He gave a nervous chuckle. "That's not morbid or anything, is it?" He was hoping to get the shift away from where he had come from, and towards where he was going. "I mean, it can't be too morbid, you're here after all." She had come here alone, so she was either hiding something, or getting something hid... unless she knew someone or people who died... "Unless... you didn't.... did you?"
