It was a sometime Later in the night when the two had passed out after much needed intimacy. However she woke up around 3 am to her phone vibrating on the night stand. Johnny was snoring in her ear completely knocked out so she slipping outta the bed. All she had on was one of his t-shirts and she pulled the phone to her ear. "Yeah this is her...." Lulu spoke quietly as she slipped outta their bed room.
"Wait what?...No I didn't know....I'm the only living relative...." She was in a bit of shock as she processed everything she was hearing. It was just so much to take in and when she hung up the phone she went and slipped on a pair of shorts. Pulling her hair up in a messy sort of bun she grabbed her car keys and headed out through the club. William stepped in front of the door and she gave him this dead serious glare.
"I will snap your neck if you dont get the fuck outta my way." The words out of her mouth were bitter and cold as William raised his hands and stepped outta the way. Though he did follow her out and get into his truck. Lulu didn't even bother to object as she took a drive further into the city. She found herself Parking in front of a house that she didn't think she would ever see again.
Honestly she was so zoned out she didnt pay attention to William parking near by. Walking towards the house she found herself moving up the stairs. There was police tape on the door but the seal was cut so she opened the door. More like cracked it open with all the force in her one hand. Stepping inside she flipped on the light switch and the seen took her back. The placed reeked of cigarettes and meth.
There was a dirty Playpen in the living room and some other scattered toys. On the table there were scattered needles and rubber tourniquets. A few empty baggies and it brought her back to the first time she caught her mom in a OD state. Lulu was only 6 at the time and harold was passed out drunk in the recliner. 'Mommy wake up!!! Mommy.....' The six year old version of herself cried.
Of course she woke Harold how back handed her and knocked her down. This sent the hysterical child running to the door and she was at the neighbors porch before Harold could come outside in his drunken state. All the memories were so vivid and she grabbed the coffee table and with alot of force it went sailing out the double window in the living room. A loud crash of glass and the sound of the wood breaking in the yard.
Moving into the kitchen her eyes fell on the kitchen table. It hadn't changed since she left the house as a teen. Another flashback was the first night Harold had taken away the innocence she had. She tried to fight and he slammed her head into the fridge repeatedly until she was to weak to stand. Then he put her over that table and Lulus eyes closed.
Tears stung her eyes and her hand grabbed the fridges and it flew straight through the wall into the living room. Outside William Pulled out his phone and Dialed Johnny. "Boss, You need to get over to Lu's old house. Like now... Its not good." He spoke in a serious tone and slid the phone into his pocket. He body had already turned metal and some neighbors came out of their houses. "Just some remodeling folks. Nothing to see. Move on or end up taking a dirt nap."
Johnny woke up close to 3:30 in the morning. His phone was buzzing and vibrating on the table, but mostly it was the light that woke him up. Half asleep he rolled over and fumbled for the phone. His face an expression of the confused as he sat up in the dark. His mind a distant foggy haze he felt for Lulu and found her missing. Suddenly he was much more awake. "Hello?!?" His throat was dry, harsh and scratchy.
He felt like he was in hell. His emotions were in a constant rollercoaster of panic and fear. All for her. He heard William's voice on the other end of the line. Saying that he had to get to Lulu's old house and fast. He remembered where it was. How could he forget? That was the fucking prison she was rotting in when he saved her. When he changed her life. Johnny rolled his feet out of bed and quickly got dressed. He threw on some jeans and a tank top and of course his jacket. The familiar leather riding his shoulders and bringing him comfort where little comfort was to be found anywhere these days.
It didn't take him long to get to the house. The ride was somehow eerily quiet. There was the background chatter of whatever the fuck was on sports talk radio, but his mind was elsewhere. "No Bobby I don't think you heard me. The issue at hand is...Is it right for mutants to be aloud to play professional sports? I don't think it is. You can't have one guy who can teleport to the other end of the field and score an instant touchdown. There's no way to regulat...." Johnny turned off the car as the guy was mid sentence in a heated debate.
Johnny stepped out of the car and saw a living room couch fly out the window. The house was on a hill overlooking a prettier, more incandescent part of the city. The couch went sailing down into the night only to come crashing down on the sleepy town below. From that height it could fucking kill somebody. Luckily it was almost four in the morning. Joe fucking nobody wasn't likely to be standing in it's trajectory.
Johnny saw William and nodded to him. He was standing by smoking a cigarette. Johnny took Will's cigarette and took a few puffs from it trying to mentally prepare himself for the shit he was about to walk into. Handing it back he wiped his feet on the concrete before walking up the stairs. He didn't want to track dirt into these precious memories. They were horrible and wrong and honestly he wouldn't give a fuck if this whole place burned down.
But still he wiped his feet more out of habit than anything else. Johnny was going to burn this place to the ground. If not for Lulu's sanity but for his own fucking satisfaction. Why it was still allowed to stand here as a monument of pain he had no fucking clue but he was going to change that. Walking up the stairs the door was already open. Johnny slowly and cautiously stepped inisde. "Lulu?" His voice was unsure, like he couldn't see her though she stood right in front of him. He held up his hands to show that he wasn't here to force her out, but only to talk.
Why would she come here? Why would she drudge up all these old painful fucking scars was beyond him. He didn't know the reasons he only knew that she was seriously about to loose it on someone and better him stepping inside with his invulnerability than some poor dumb asshole cop getting his neck broken in a fit of rage, responding to a B and E. "What are we doing here Lulu? Can't you leave the past as the fucking past? It's no good bringing this shit back into our lives. I know you're freaked about the baby but this isn't us babe. Our family isn't going to be this white trash trailor park shit! We don't have to repeat mistakes." Johnny said sure he understood the source of her pain but only swinging at empty targets in the dark.

It had been so many years since she had been in these haunted hallways. Since she was sixteen and that horrible last night with Harold. It was like scenes played out vividly in this building that was the prison in her mind. Coming home after a date with Johnny she was late much to Harold's dismay. Johnny had once again spent the night trying to convince her to move out but she didn't want to leave her junkie mother.
Her Mother was upstairs knocked out of something she had shot up and Harold had a few of his drunken bar buddies over. Apparently he had told them about his hot 16 year old 'Daughter' and they wanted to see her for themselves. Setting her purse down on of the guys had grabbed her from behind. There was a hand Over her mouth so she didn't have a chance to scream for Johnny who had walked her to the door.
When the sound of his car started to fade while he was driving away they drug her into the basement. Her body was bent over a washing machine as one of them used her liked Harold had before. Gripping the edges of the machine she was crying and angry that she couldn't stop this from happening. Something miraculous happened as her hands started to bend the metal causing it to groan under stress.
Jerking her arms form the men that had her held down she flung one of them into a support beam. His back snapped and he fell dead to the floor from the force. Suddenly she turned her rage on the other three men in the basement including Harold. All of them had snapped necks within moments and Harold had broken legs before she went upstairs and called Johnny a bit hysterical.
When Johnny came back two of the other fools had accompanied him to hell dispose of the body and Johnny finished Harold off. All the commotion had finally managed to wake her mother who was horrified at what had happened. Suddenly Lulu was the monster and that night she kicked Lulu out. She left with Johnny and had never been back or even spoken to her mother in all these years. Her breathing was heavy as she felt the stab in her gut from all these horrible memories.
The couch had been thrown out the window and the fridge was mangled laying in the living room floor. Johnny was talking behind her and she sniffled a bit from the angry and pain she felt. "My stupid junkie mother is dead. The hospital called to inform me since im still her emergency contact." Her voice spoke a bit flat and emotional. "I have a 6 year old sister and had a 5 month old brother. Never even knew they existed til tonight."
The words tasted bitter in her mouth as she finally turned to look at Johnny. "That stupid junkie whore Let my brother drown in the tub upstairs because she needed to overdose. My sister was reported walking outside alone about two days after it happened. Shes at the hospital, was dehydrated and hungry." Lulu was feeling a bit numb from all the emotional trauma she had felt tonight. Stepping closer to Johnny her face buried in his chest as her hands gripped the jacket.
"I dont know how to be a mom...I didn't really have a stand up step ford mother as a kid. What if I end up like her? The life we live....How are we supposed to bring our baby into that or my sister? I've never been so afraid." After all the shit she had been through the idea of turning into her mother and disappointing her kid was the scariest thought she knew.
All this information came crashing down on his head like a ton of bricks. johnny licked at his lips. He didn't know what to say. The first bit of news that hit him was that her mother was dead. Johnny didn't care. He could see that she was hurting, but that woman was no mother. She never had been. Just because she spread her legs didn't give herself the right to call herself a mother. He knew a mother was someone who cared about their children.
Someone who honestly felt their child's pain and gave a shit enough to want to be there for them. It wasn't money and flashy cars and nice shit you could give them, it came from the heart. It came from inside. Johnny had never had that. The closest thing he had to family before the fools and Lulu was a kid named Roy Walker. They shared a foster home for several months when Johnny was just a kid himself. They had each other's backs. It was what attracted Johnny to the life of the fools in the first place. The thought of brotherhood that went that deep. It was the only time he had felt safe as a kid.
Growing up in a variety of abusive foster homes. He got tough and fast! Standing here now he wished that Lulu never had to have grown up tough. He wished that fairytale shit for her. He wished her childhood had been puffy clouds and shiny rainbows. It just wasn't in the cards. Taking a few steps foward he wrapped his arms around her. He didn't care if she broke his neck in anger he was going to be there for her. As he held her she let it slip that she had a dead brother and a little sister. Johnny said nothing. He only listened to her talk and sob as he stared out the window. If she had a sister.
They were going to go get her. That was all there was too it. As soon as she was able to leave the hospitle she was coming home and she already had so much family. Before she only had a cracked out junkie mother now she had the fools and Johnny and a sister to look out for her. Johnny wasn't so much thinking about the fools though as he was him and Lulu being there for the little girl. But if they ever got in trouble the fools would come running. They always did. They were just loyal like that.
"Come on. Let's go get your sister." Johnny finalyl said after a few long moments of silence. He waited until the tears stopped flowing and he could feel a wet spot in his tank top. wrapping his arm around Lulu he nodded to William outside the door. Though he would have loved to have the pleasure of doing it himself. Johnny needed this place to be nothing more than a stain on their memories. As he walked Lulu to the car he leaned over and whispered to William. His arm was still wrapped around Lulu.
"Tear this place down to the fucking rubble. Don't let it stand another night." He was sure the metal giant could wreck a house in record time. He had faith in William not to let him down. He opened the door for Lulu and helped her into the car. She was quiet. She might be in a bit of shock. Johnny frowned and took one last look at their haunted past before moving around to the driver's seat. "You're not your mother. You're better." He said. He wanted to say more, but it was 4 in the morning and his brain wasn't all there. He sighed and rubbed her leg lightly and allowed the silence to fill in the blanks. Shifting the car in drive they started off towards the hospitle. He had a niece? A kid sister? He wasn't sure how the fuck that worked but he already loved that kid and wanted to treat her like the little queen he knew she'd become.

Her body was shaking and it really wasn't definite whether it was her nerves of the fact that she was in a old t shirt and a pair of shorts. Her eyes were puffy from tears and her make up was long past gone. No one really got to see just the natural version of lulu but Johnny himself. She may have been a junkie's daughter but she could always hear the one thing her mother ever preached to her in her head. 'Doesnt matter how you feel, Only matters how you look.'
Lulu had always dolled up even before that day Johnny first came into her shitty dinner. That one guy that hit on her that she could never get to give up. The only guy who ever really saw her in this weak of a state. Going to get her sister was something that seemed so hard for her. Lulu hadn't even felt confident about being a mother to their un born child but now she would basically be taking on a child who lost her mother.
Johnny's arm was around her and she quietly walked out of the old house with him. Her eyes found William outside waiting in silence and she gave him a nod. she always trust William to be there no matter what shit the world dealt them. He was one of the first fools she met and she loved him like a brother. Had spent many nights in one on one chats when he would ask advice. A few of the fools she had that bond with and then a few of them had turned and became loyal minions to Carson's spawn.
Sliding into the car her eyes were on the side mirror as it rolled away. Headlights from Williams truck aimed at the house and the sound of the building collapsing could be heard. All she saw standing afterwards was William gleaming in the light. Hearing Johnny's words of encouragement she just sat silently and stared at the window. In hear heart she wanted to believe she would be better and not make the same mistakes but as of a few months ago she was a major party girl with her hand on every drug in the book.
Eventually they made it to the hospital and were directed to the hospital wing. Lulu stepped away from johnny to speak to the social worker for a few moments and sign paper work to take custody of the girl. When she finally met Johnny again they headed to the children's wing and she stopped outside the room door. Her hand was on the knob but she was just frozen. "What if she doesnt like me..." Sounded like a stupid statement but she was just afraid of all the changes coming their way.
Johnny himself was in little more than a pair of silk black and gray basketball shorts and an old black tanktop. His tattoos covered the majority of his body. Even down his back and across his legs. He looked like a walking canvas for some drugged up junkie artist. Not exactly role model of the year and fitting of the word father, but still... Johnny cared. He had always been that way. He was brash and cocky and lived life dangerous. His ability to heal protected him from the worst of it but wounds of the heart were a different monster.
Johnny's heart bled red like everyone elses' He waited for Lulu to sign the paperwork at the hospital. He got all sorts of looks from the doctors and nurses. He didn't realize in being swept up on the moment that his leg was covered in blood. A small cut from broken glass of the couch flying out the window. It dripped all the way down his tattooed leg, though there was no wound. Johnny bit his nail on his thumb and looked around.
He smiled as Lulu came back. "Ready?" He asked almost as nervous as her. She paused to ask him the same question. What if she wasn't ready. He didn't reply. Johnny only opened the room to a little play area of pediatrics. The room was closed for the night. All the sick children were in bed, but this room was used as a sort of holding room for the girl until they had gotten there. Johnny was stunned a bit at first to see the light skinned color of her. Lulu's mom got down with the chocolate. It didn't matter. He smiled at her.
Johnny didn't even know her name, but he moved over to her with cautious caring steps. Crouching in front of her he held out his hand. "I'm Uncle Johnny." He said sweetly. There was a smile dancing on his lips. The social worker watched from the door. Lulu looked like an emotionally unstabble wreck and Johnny looked like a criminal, or a thug or both. She wasn't sure sending this girl home with these people was the best idea. Silver Shadow showed up at the door and stood back watching the exchange.
He got a text from William Johnny and Lulu went to the hospital and he rushed right over without even bothering to read the rest of the text. He almost rolled his eyes at the judgmental look on the social worker's face but he smiled when he saw her eyeing him up. Even with silver hair he had no problems pulling the ladies. He straigthened his jacket. "Everything okay in here?" He asked peering into the room.
Johnny looked back. "We're fine man." He was still smiling as he turned back to the girl. "Cool. cool. I'm uh... I'ma go grab some coffee from the cafeteria." Looking back at the social worker. "Can you show me where that is?" She started to stutter that she couldn't she had to look after the child but Shawn bat his eyes at her. "I bet you know where that is, come on let's take a walk." He said in a more than suggestive tone.
As if it wasn't a suggestion at all. He gave Johnny and Lulu some privcay with her sister as Shawn placed an arm around the woman's shoulder and led her out of the room. Johnny shook hands with the girl. "This nice lady here.... She's your sister Lulu. We're here to take you home sweetheart."
Johnny was great with kids. The girl even smiled a little at him. She looked over his many, many tattoos thinking how interesting they were. Kids were so easily distracted. Turning back to Lulu Johnny's eyes said that he was ready for father hood. This was a shitty situation for the kid, but they were going to make it okay for her. Why? Because they were family. And if there was one thing every fool knew how to do was take care of family. It was just that fucking simple.
