Derek felt a slight thud against the back of his head, it was probably a terrible consequence of a night spent looking to the bottom of a bottle of rum as if it had all the answers he needed. He didn’t sleep much, instead he burnt the pastel walls of his rented apartment with whips of electricity as an outlet for his pent up rage. He hated leaving Katherine like that, he hated himself mostly and his dad but there was no way to tell the old bastard how he ruined his children’s lives unless he could dive into hell and drag the asshole back somewhere a fist might make a dent. Derek already had his stuff, the few things that belonged to him, all packed up in one simple, worn duffel by the side of the bed.
When morning came and went he opted for a quick shower and took the familiar route to the bar. There were still a few odds and ends he left there that night, hell, if the little pawed friend wanted to see the world he’d take the cat with but he thought it might be more of a hassle than he’d prefer. The sky overhead was clear but his mind didn’t reflect the serenity. Instead he still felt the subtle shake of frustration in his fingertips, the stain of a shattered heart in his chest and the thud of a stress induced headache against his skull. It all sucked about as much as the onslaught of daylight to his hungover gaze.
Derek took the back door, spared the bartender called Jimmy a quick nod and grabbed the few items strewn about that belonged to him including the ugly lighter he stole from a biker back in Los Angeles, a folded picture of his sister and his last night’s tips tucked under a heavy crate. The last thing he expected to see was the tall fellow stepping inside, luckily he was hidden by a half open door leading to storage. The stranger wore a long, dark coat and had contrasting pale hair with a nasty sneer. He knew the bastard from a run in nearly five months back in some dumb town with barely anything other than a church and a library. He didn’t stay long by default..
The man worked for a rich, lawyer asshole with his filthy paws deep in several criminal activities, one of which was a massive con earning both him and Derek’s dad a few million each. Of course his dad had to take more than his cut and ended up on the run for the rest of his short, miserable life. Derek ducked behind the door, he had to leave now, he didn’t have any other choice now. Before he darted back out the back he crouched down to pet the furry little fellow on the head a last time, tossed the little guy another handful of peanuts and disappeared back outside.
There was a single thought echoing in his mind like an endless loop of aesthetic music, Katherine. He would never forget her and he had no idea how to sever a connection he didn’t fully comprehend.

I feel like giving up
It isn’t in my blood
After that day that Derek left her in that parking lot Katherine didn’t know what to do with herself. It felt as if she wasn’t really there anymore. Derek would no longer be in her life… and he took her love with him whether he wanted it or not. Her chest hurt as she laid there on the bathroom floor just staring at the ceiling, a pill bottle in her hand. The contents of it still in tact as she debated with herself.
There was nothing left for her here in this world. Her fingers went to the tabs and unscrewed the top. She just wanted the pain to stop, she wanted Derek back, and she knew only one of those options was going to happen when she took these pills. She laid there looking at the bottle. That's when she heard a knock on the door.
“What?” Her voice was hoarse from her crying. “Honey, I have someone I want you to meet.” Her mother called. Always clinical and professional. No inkling of worry or concern. Giving a sigh she put the cap back on and opened the door. There stood two men in all white in front of her mother who worse a black pantsuit. Katherine stared in confusion at the men. Did her mom think she was mental?
“Katherine. I want you to go with Ian and James here. Get yourself some help.”
“Why do you care?” She simply asked. Her mother had never really shown an interest in her since the day she was born. She did her motherly duties taking care of her until she could afford a nanny who was more mother than her own flesh and blood. “Katherine. It’s for your own good.” Katherine scoffed and shut the door on her. Locking it she looked at herself in the mirror. Black circles laid under her eyes. Her skin even though it hadn’t been very long looked paler, sicklier. Her once vibrant chocolate eyes dull and dark.
“Katherine come out now!” The fake worry was in her voice as she knocked on the door harder. “Leave me alone! The one time I don’t want anyone to fucking bother me and you have to come barging in like you give a damn about me!” She yelled and grabbed the sleeping pills. She wasn’t just going to throw her life away, but without Derek… she didn’t feel complete. That void in her heart just tore into a black hole that would never be satisfied.
Forcing her way through the bathroom door she pushed passed her mother and the two goons. She pulled out some new clothes putting on a hunter green shirt, some shorts, fingerless gloves and her combat boots. “Where do you think you’re going young lady?”
“Away from you. I should’ve left you so much sooner than now. Have fun living a fucking lie you old cunnty bitch.” She flipped off her mom, grabbed her duffel and fanny pack with her money and ran for it, dropping the pills on the ground. She had one more thing she wanted to tell Derek if he hadn’t left yet. She’d leave with him… if he’d want her to. It would keep both of them from hurting, but also keep her close so he wouldn’t have to worry about her safety. Two birds, one stone.
Katherine didn’t worry about her car as she ran down streets towards the more ghetto side of town. ‘Please let him still be there… please.’ She silently prayed. When she passed the opening for the bar he worked at she stopped for a moment, just thinking about what he said. Determination rose through her as she thought of what she was going to say to him. She’d get him to listen to reason, even if it was a selfish one.
Getting to the top of the stairs she took a deep breath and let it out slowly. She gently knocked on the door and waited for a response. I he didn’t do anything… then he had already left and she was going to just run wherever she felt like it. Her grip tightened on the straps of the duffle bag. If he was here, he’d have to hear her out before making a final decision.
“Katherine, you shouldn’t be here”, his voice was gruff as he tried refilling his lungs. She looked different, deadly sick almost. He could see the thick touch of dark circles beneath her eyes, the sweaty paleness to her skin and the lifeless gaze in her eyes. It was horrible, he hated every second of it. He’d do anything, give anything to see that lust for life and adventure in the midst of her beautiful gaze. Derek hated being the culprit inflicting that much pain on someone who didn’t deserve it.
“Just, get inside”, fiddling with the keys he opened the door in haste and pulled her inside. He didn’t see the pale bastard but that didn’t mean he wasn’t out there hunting his prey. Derek wasn’t scared or unequipped to fight back against them but he wouldn’t be able to focus if he had to keep Katherine safe too.
“What do I have to do to get you to stay away Katherine? I told you it wasn’t safe and right now there are bastards out there looking for me. You should leave before you’re caught in the crossfire”, he didn’t notice the duffel she carried or the determination practically radiating off her. Instead he focused on stuffing the last few laundry pieces into his own worn duffel.
Derek stopped for a brief second looking to the bland wall burnt with his ability in the rage of his intense worry for Katherine’s safety. He turned around, if he had to leave he’d leave tasting Katherine’s lips. Derek didn’t think f time when he grabbed her shoulders, pulled her close and slammed his lips on hers. The taste was addictive and exhilarating. He wanted nothing less for the moment to hold but the pale bastard was slowly inching closer and time was a fickle mistress out of his control.

It isn’t in my blood
Katherine gave a little smile as she eagerly walked inside. She followed him and placed the duffle on the ground. Her eyes went over the walls and her smile faltered a bit seeing the scorch marks. ‘Guess he can have tantrums too.’ She didn’t know why but she found it funny.
She leaned against the door frame, arms crossed over her chest. “Oh, I don’t know. Maybe hear me out?” She chuckled. Going without sleep for a whole 24 hours wasn’t a good look for her. But she watched as he stopped to look over the walls. An eyebrow raised as he turned to her, and the next thing she knew his lips were on hers. Sparks flew behind her eyelids, fireworks went off as her heart raced.
Her hands clung to his shirt to pull him even closer. Going on her tiptoes she wanted to make this kiss last for as long as it could. She felt the love, the desire as their lips melded with eachothers. Slowly Katherine’s hands slithered their way up to run her fingers through his hair. She never wanted this to end, but all too soon she knew it would.
Feeling his lips pull away was even more heartbreaking than his words. “I’m coming with you.” She said. The light in her eyes had returned some as she got the courage to go on. “If I’m with you, then neither of us have to hurt. We don’t have to go separate ways. They can’t get to you through me if you already have me.”
She hoped he couldn’t make an excuse to not do it. She was capable of fighting back. Hell as a girl in high school she took some self-defense classes just to keep herself safe from nutjobs trying to kill her to get to her mother. But the worry was still there in her features. “I know it’s selfish...I know I must sound like some love drunk idiot but...you’re the only person who makes me feel like I belong.”
Derek lived in that beautiful moment for an eternity before his mind drifted back to the pressing matters of a reality he hated. Every second under her touch left his skin warm as life coursed through him in an immeasurable excitement. His fingers felt raw and dead when he pulled back, every fiber of his being simply wanted to be with her. The physical attraction was nice and absolutely addicting but he wanted to preserve the beautiful life radiating off her gaze and greet that complex mind with his own because every single aspect that made her Katherine was a new taste of the drug he couldn’t get enough of. Love wasn’t a word he used freely, he loved his mother and his sister, hated his father, loved that little fucking kat, hated the guys his father pissed off and without a doubt absolutely loved Katherine for every second of life she breathed into his tired being.
“You have family and friends here Katherine, I can’t expect you to throw that all away for me. It’s not fair, I didn’t have a choice about where I went but you can still choose to stay and live a normal life. Being on the run isn’t always pretty”, his voice was gruff and his fingers curled around themselves in fear she’d take him up on the offer and stay behind. As much as he wanted her to for the pure safety thereof he wasn’t sure how long he’d last without laying his eyes on her.
Hearing the words from her lips were like drinking nectar from the gods. He wanted to hear it over and over again until it echoed in his mind as a reminder of her. Derek nodded at last, if she chose to follow he wouldn’t stop her. Not anymore. But he’d do everything in his power to keep her safe, if he had to fry a thousand bastards to do it he would.
Derek attributed the shiver down his spine to pure paranoia but when he saw the brief shadow move past the window he couldn’t help but feel the dread in the pit of his stomach. He planted a firm hand over her mouth and pressed a finger to his, a signal to stay quiet.
Derek picked up his duffel and hurried to the bedroom while someone pounded away at the door. He tossed the bag over his shoulder, opened the window and glanced at Katherine expectantly. “Stay quiet, stay low and head for the roof”, he knew someone would be waiting down in the alleyway where the fire escape led into an excellent trap. Derek mapped out every possible escape the night he took the place and he knew the jump to the adjacent building was easy enough to do without attracting the wrong attention. Derek stopped her for a second, grasped her cheek in his palm and set a passionate kiss to her lips before he ushered her outside. The door wouldn’t hold for much longer.

It isn’t in my blood
Katherine couldn’t hide the excitement from her eyes as she smiled brightly. Nothing would keep her from Derek, not even death. But seeing as he wanted to protect her, that he’s probably seen a lot of people he’s cared about lose their lives she’d live for him. She would do absolutely anything for him.
She watched him as he placed a hand over her mouth and her breathing stilled. She could hear the footsteps, smell the scent of someone not so pleasant outside. It wasn’t familiar, and she didn’t get a friendly vibe from it. Grabbing her own duffle she followed quickly behind Derek. “Can do.” She whispered with a nod of her head.
She felt spoiled as he stopped her for another kiss and she eagerly met his with her own passion. A soft vibration radiated from her chest up her throat but it was soft enough the only Derek could hear. They’d have to celebrate that later. Placing her hand on his cheek she gave him one last peck on the lips before going out the window. She then took his duffle to make sure he could get out without interruption.
On her tiptoes she moved a lot quicker on all fours up the stairs of the fire escape. Of course this gave Derek an even better view of her ass at the same time. Getting to the ladder she held onto the highest rung she could. With a little wiggle she launched herself up to the edge of the roof. She turned to see Derek and a smirk placed itself nicely on her face. Her attention went to the noise of the door being busted down just as Derek disappeared over the edge of the roof with her. “Guess you get everyone hot under the collar.” She joked hearing a frustrated yell.
Derek couldn’t help but smirk proudly at the low vibration that made his knees go weak and his chest thump excitedly against the beating of his heart. He’d remember to be a smartass about it later, when he didn’t have these assholes barging down his door. He made sure to close the window softly behind him, turning he half expected her to beat him to the top but he was shockingly surprised at the odd view of her unique ascension of the fire escape. Derek smirked shaking his head at her almost proud, teasing smirk. He could be stuck under the spell of her gaze for as long as the world existed but the sudden bust of the door breaking down to his right was enough to rush him to the roof.
“It’s a gift”, he couldn’t help but chuckled smugly at the frustrated yell echoing from his place, nevertheless, they wouldn’t be safe until they were far enough from these assholes to begin with. Derek reached out, took both the duffels from her, tossed them the short distance from the roof he stood on to that of the adjacent building he faced. “Don’t fall sweetheart”, he started in a light jog before throwing the weight of his body to the second roof.
Derek turned smugly waiting for Katherine to join him, he held one hand open in paranoia that she’d miscalculate the jump and he’d end up catching her. Although, he was confident in her abilities to take care of the jump herself, for the most part. They didn’t have long now, eventually those slimy assholes would figure out the only way they had to go was up and he didn’t want to involve her in a dangerous confrontation with these men.
Derek waited until she was on his side before he allowed the stress in his shoulders to relax somewhat, sadly when he turned he saw the pale bastard bust through the worn door leading to the roof. Two more men followed behind him and Derek instinctively reached out to usher Katherine behind him where he could take the brunt of their onslaught.
“Derek Hale. You’re a hard man to find, all we want is the money your old man stole and both you and the girl can go on your merry way”, Derek saw the brief glance of the pale fellow drift beyond them. No doubt his friends were sneaking behind the couple for a useless ambush. Derek’s power burst to life in his veins and he felt the lightning in his touch drift to his brilliant eyes leaving them almost eerily bright.
he would never let them lay a finger on Kathrine and he knew they’d never stop, if they did get their money back they’d end up putting a bullet in his head and tossing his body into a ditch. “Stay behind me”, Derek allowed every vibrant inch of his lightning to reach out from his fingertips and tossed lightning strike after lightning strike at the men, they barely had time to pull out their guns and when he smelled the horrible stench of burning flesh he turned to those sneaking up from the building they’d let behind.
A series of lightning strikes burst forth from his skin as he turned to pull Katherine behind him again and he burned every single one of those bastards to ashes. He couldn’t let them get to Katherine, he could never let them get to Katherine.
“Let’s get out of here”, his voice was heavy laden and the weight of murder hung on his shoulders. He wasn’t particularly a good guy but he never enjoyed killing and he feared Katherine might prefer staying back now. He just couldn’t lose her and he’d do everything in his power to keep her safe. Walking past the tall, pale bastard he heard a painful groan but he left it be and allowed the bastard to wallow in the pain of the burns littering his skin.

Katherine followed close behind Derek as he jumped. “Oh honey, please. This is child’s play.” She said and backed up some before going into a full sprint before jumping at the last minute. Making the jump she gave him a high five just to be a bit of a smartass. But the fun ended as she heard the door open.
“Liar.” She scoffed out. She knew men like him. They had often threatened her life and her mother’s. Either because their family member was wrongly accused, or some sort of corrupt lawyer out for revenge for losing and in turn losing his job. But otherwise she stayed quiet she didn’t want to make more problems or Derek. Turning her head to the noise behind her she noticed two men flanking them and turned to Derek.
His eyes almost hypnotized her with their fierce beauty. ‘God he’s fucking sexy when he’s angry and powered up.’ She thought. Before she knew it all the men surrounding them had been burnt. The smell of burning flesh caught her nose and she had to cover her nose and mouth. God it was awful, but this is what she signed up for being with Derek. Nothing could change her mind on that.
“Yeah.” She simply said. She didn't know exactly what else to say. Her heart sank some hearing how much this weighed on him. Gently she touched his shoulder, and walked with him. Hearing the groan she just clicked her tongue at the guy. Until he reached for her foot. Pulling back she stomped him in the teeth earning another pained groan. “Asshole.”
She wanted to do more than just that, but Katherine knew they had to get moving. She'd follow Derek to the ends of the Earth if it meant staying with him...forever. She wished that she could help get these guys off his case though. He didn't deserve to be chased down like an animal and cornered every time he tried to walk outside. Following Derek she wondered where he’d take them. She knew far away, but just how far would that be?
Derek couldn’t help but smirk proudly at the well aimed kick against the asshole’s temple, hell, if it weren’t for the burnt flesh smell littering the air he’d have her in his arms. Instead he followed through the same door the men busted through with an almost happy smile. For a while they’d be safe and he had just the right place in mind for them to go to. He couldn’t be sure if the place was still there but he hoped he could share it with her.
Derek wasn’t exactly in touch with the feelings that littered his own mind but for once the doubt in his thoughts were dulled down by the touch of his hand reaching out to hers. It was a simple gesture he kept steady down the sets of stairs until he was outside. The air was thick and musty but he knew it was only because the town was getting to chaotic for him and he wanted out. Thankfully this time he didn’t have to go alone.
Running from place to place got hard but it would have been unbearable if he set his ass on that bike without the warm body of someone he loved at his back. Derek knew what he wanted and he finally had the balls to admit it. Derek turned to look at Katherine with a genuine smile coated in a glint of mischief, he wondered if she regretted following him yet but he sure as hell appreciated the stubbornness that led to that moment.
“If you’re not having second thoughts then I know some place you might like. Besides, it’s very private”, he leaned closer to her with a playful wink before swinging his legs over the cold seat of the bike. His gaze shifted to her for a second, he had to make sure that dedication to stay was still in the glint in her gaze.

Following Derek down the stairs she noticed his hand reaching back for hers. A soft smile found her lips as she reached out and held his hand in her own. She could feel the strength his hand held, but also the gentle touch. She might not have known him for very long, but she had fallen head over heels for this man and she didn’t regret a thing. That’s what would surprise most people about her. She could see both sides of the fence. And seeing this situation, hearing about what his dad did, leaving him to deal with the debt. It was unforgivable. She understood a little more of why Derek had tried pushing her away.
Katherine’s heart melted seeing that boyish grin again, that slight look of mischief shook her to her very core. This is the man she wanted to spend the rest of her life with. She never thought she’d ever say that about anyone. Derek was so different, and yet she felt she had known him her entire life. He just hadn’t been part of it before now. A smirk took up her face as a glint of devilish mischief showed in her own eyes as he spoke.
“Oh, now I’m more intrigued. Finally gonna turn those threats of a good time into a promise?” She asked as she got on the back of the bike. Getting her feet up she wrapped her arms tight around his chest. Biting her lip she tried to keep her more teasing thoughts just that. She didn’t want to distract him as he drove. However, she did let her hands slide down just a bit further. She wanted to tease him a little bit.
“Damn right I am”, Derek wasn’t sure if she could see the content grin on his lips but there was no doubt that this impulsive endeavor was the closest he felt to home in a very long time. Even with the wind digging into his face he couldn’t ignore the touch of her slender palms against his body. He nearly swerved the bike in front of an oncoming truck but dug it back into the correct lane with ease. Leaning back he hoped the wind would carry his voice to her ears, “Aren’t you a little overeager?”, even then a brief chuckle left his lips.
Eventually, when the road felt too long and the touch of the steel against his legs made his skin feel absolutely numb, the cabin came into view after the exhausting length of the dirt road. The trees around them reached to the sky in overbearing lengths and the sound of a river rippling downstream was as addictive to his senses as the warmth of Katherine’s body against his back.
He loved everything about this place, the intense heat in the summer and the absolute freezing touch of the river’s proximity in the winter. Derek turned close to the cabin’s back door and pulled the bike to a stop. By the look of things the place hadn’t been used in months. He turned to Katherine with a smile and gestured with his shrugged shoulder to the pale wood lining the cabin’s walls.
“We can stay here for as long as we like. Place went to my uncle when my parents died but he's a dick and it's just gathering dust out here”, Derek leaned down and picked up the heavy pot plant to the right of the back door and picked up the dusty, rusted key he stuffed there many years back. The door opened with a creek and he had to correct his earlier thought. This pace hadn’t been touched for years, dust littered the surfaces in a thick layer and although he preferred it’s solidarity he couldn’t deny the slight cringe to dusty environment.
Derek turned around with a soft smile, when his gaze met katherine’s he didn’t care about the dust or the musty air, all he knew was his love for the woman in front of him. He could always wipe away the dust and open a window but luck had everything to do with the breathtaking soul daring to spend her days with him on the run.
“You’re beautiful”, he stepped towards her with a grin atop his lips and curled his arm around her waist before pulling her to his chest. Derek would have kissed her without a second thought if a bird didn’t dark overhead and out of the cabin’s interior back to the touch of nature. “Not exactly how I imagined this going”, there was a joking tone to his voice as he looked down at her.

Katherine enjoyed the ride, resting her head on his back and keeping a tight hold. “Well, I mean, there’s this guy that’s been teasing me for days now. I only think he deserves a little bit of payback.” She yelled up at him before giggling. Her hand raised up feeling the firm muscles of his abdomen and she bit her lip. She didn’t want to wait but she also didn’t want to cause them to wreck and possibly die.
Her eyes closed for just a moment as she felt the sun on her face, the wind through her hair. She could definitely get used to this. It didn’t matter if they were always on the run. She knew where she belonged now, and that was at Derek’s side. A smile graced her lips as she breathed easy for what felt like the first time. No eggshells to walk on, no higher expectation than love and respect. It felt like total freedom to her.
Although she could completely do without those creepy debt bastards, but it was a small price to deal with. When the noise of other cars and noise pollution faded into the background and she heard more nature than machinery her eyes opened. Looking around she smiled a little wider loving the quiet and peace. Seeing the cabin coming into view she held on just a bit tighter. She was feeling anxious.
“Such a shame he doesn’t use it. This place is amazing.” She said getting off the bike and looking around. The trees were beautiful and tall. She’d love to climb them sometime. Following up the stairs she could already smell the stale air. Getting inside she looked around at the thick dust. Katherine turned her head to Derek and she smiled brightly. Her cheeks had a light pink tint as he called her beautiful.
Butterflies filled her stomach as he pulled her closer and she felt his arm around her waist. Peering into those beautiful blue eyes she felt so lucky. Wrapping her arms around his neck she lifted up onto her tiptoes ready for a kiss until a bird flew over their heads. Katherine couldn’t help but to laugh. “Really? Well then…” Katherine leaned up to his ear before taking a nibble on his ear lobe. “Why don’t you show me how you thought this would go?” She whispered seductively into his ear. Her lips trailed along his jaw to his neck before placing a kiss to the pulse in his neck.
Derek felt a genuine smile shift over his features, it spread from his lips to the happy glint in his gaze and the affectionate touch of his calloused palm to her cheek. He wasn’t always a sentimental person but the only thing he needed was an everlasting photo to preserve the carefree spirit he’d grown so severely fond of if it would mean he’d get to keep her close to him as a glossy reminder of an extraordinary woman in his worn wallet. Everything about her tasted like the true meaning of life, as if he belonged in that singular, absolutely beautiful moment in history so he’d stumble onto her bloodied form and learn what it meant to care about someone who truly mattered.
“I just don’t want to end up breaking you in two”, his voice was doused in a humorous tone but the light in his eyes slowly changed to a beautiful seriousness he rarely showed anyone. Time felt as if it died down into an eternity of everlasting seconds that he adored with each and every fiber of his being. He reached down, cupped her cheeks in his palms and pressed his lips gently against hers. It felt as if the sky inside his mind erupted into a beautiful ecstasy that seemed impossible and absolutely perfect all at once.
He reached down, cupped his large palms under her thighs and pulled her slim figure to him. he didn’t spare the world around him a second of his attention, every step he took was etched into his memory as he slowly carried her to the first bedroom on his right. The room was clouded in a beautiful red hue from the thin curtains and made the dust barely visible against the dark sheets. Any other day he’d be rough about what he wanted but those emotions were rooted to lust, what this was, was known and foreign to him.
He didn’t even know her all that long but the word driving in his mind resembled something of love, he wanted to appreciate every inch of her skin and every taste of her lips because it meant she’d be engraved in his mind by something deeper than lust and desire. Derek gently set her down onto the plush matrass and hovered over her with a cocky smirk dancing on his lips for even just a second.
“You’re sure this is what you want?”, the words were gentle, albeit heavy with intense meaning and pure affection.

“Mm, I’m pretty damn flexible. So you’d have to try really hard at that one.” Katherine claimed. She nuzzled into his touch the same chest deep purring rumbling through her at how content she felt. Her arms tightened around his neck as she kissed him back. Her legs wrapping around his waist as her fingers drifted up and into his hair. This was the moment she never wanted to lose.
She giggled some as she was placed on the bed. Even as dust particles danced through the air she could only focus on Derek’s face as he hovered above her. For the first time ever she felt so shy, doubting if she’d really be good enough for him. When he asked if she was sure, the doubt erased itself as she sat up, touching her forehead to his.
Her nose nuzzled against his for a moment before she pulled back. Taking hold of one of his hands and placing it on her heart. It beat so quickly she wasn’t sure if it could be contained in her ribs for much longer. “For the longest time… men have been in and out of my life because… it’s all I’ve known. My mother had told me countless times that love was just a fleeting dream. But with you, it’s so different.” Tears built in her eyes.
“I want to fight for this, for us. For the first time I want to fight for what I want. And what I want is you. Everything you are, is everything I’ve been waiting for.” A single tear slipped down her cheek, then another as she held his hand a little tighter. “No matter what. This is what I want. And I will never change that decision.”
Derek felt the smile linger at the corners of his mouth, she had him trapped in a hope of love and life that made him eager to explore every future with a single soul as vibrant and beautiful as hers. He could see the touch of tears against her lively gaze, her confirmation to share the passion brewing in his own mind and being was enough to force his lips to hers. His hands roamed the beauty of her skin gently, as if she’d break if he was too rough. He felt the moment burn into his mind as he shook the clothes from his back, relieved her of hers and delved into a memory that would haunt him with grace and hope in a way he could never forget.
Every touch against her skin left his fingers warm and his body flushing with heat, he wanted to taste every adventure she had to offer, including the one they delved into among the throngs of passion and love. Every shift of his body to hers left his mind clouded in a haze of ecstasy with no comparison. Nothing could feel as good as the warmth of her skin, the taste of her lips and the tug of his palm against hers. The pleasure that racked his body lasted longer than he ever thought possible, he pressed his broad chest to hers and moaned against the confines of her soft lips.
When the ultimate high passed over him he wrapped his arms around her shoulders, playfully pulled her on top of him and trailed kisses over the soft skin of her neck and collarbone. “Goddamnit, I think I love you”, a playful smile tugged at his lips and a wink clutched his gaze, “besides, A woman that purrs, now that’s a sight for sore eyes”. Derek would have laid there for an eternity if he could but when thirst begged for a taste of water he couldn’t resist the tug to rise to his feet.
Derek slipped into his pants, stopped for another second to kiss the woman he’d fallen helplessly in love with and left for the kitchen. “Want anything?”, he hung in the doorway in wait for her answer when he felt the red hot touch of a flame against his side. A harsh force sent him sprawling into the hallway and his eyes grew wide glancing at the culprit facing him.
He knew her, he knew the lively green glint in her gaze, the red touch to her hair, he even knew about the healed cut touching her shoulder from a day he accidentally shoved her out of the branches of a sturdy oak. “Andi? Is that how you greet your big brother?”
“You mean the big brother who left me on my own. I needed a place to stay, you could have been a robber for all I knew, it was only self defense”, he saw her circle just outside the door to the bedroom, “bring your bimbos here often big brother?”, the tone in her voice was the same snarky touch to his. He hadn’t seen her in so long, he never expected to find her here. Besides, he wasn’t sure how Katherine would react to his persistent family drama, at least he wasn’t still naked.
